  1. Hey there- I would call your insurance company and just ask if they cover weight loss surgery...if so, what are the criteria you have to meet. They should tell you- possibly give you a website where you can download information. I would also find out what your BMI is (you can find BMI calculators online). Usually, your BMI has to be 38 and have some co-morbidities or a BMI of 40 with some other stipulations.

I have just recently done all of this in hopes of getting the surgery. I have started my 3 month dr. supervised diet that my insurance requires.

I wish you the best of luck in your decision!!! I know it's an important one. Let me know if I can help with any other questions.

You will definitely find this site/blog to be very helpful and the people to be very supportive.

    Talk to you soon!!

  2. Congratulations to all of you!!!! I haven't had the surgery yet...hoping for October. I will be so excited to post some "best compliments"- reading all of yours was and is an inspiration!!!!!

Keep up the good work ladies and gentlemen

  3. hey there!! im fairly new too....going to start the 3 month supervised diet my insurance company requires. i have found this site to be extremely helpful, informational and the people are so supportive. I too look forward to my new healthier life.....and being able to support others that are going through the same things.

  4. Hi all....im new too. I went to a seminar early in may and have my dietician appt. this Thursday to start my 3 month supervised diet. I too am excited about this process and while I am not married- i have very supportive friends and family. Hopefully we all now have a internet family to support one another through as well. I wish all of you the best of luck and hope to talk with all of you again soon.

  5. Hello ladies...

I have not had surgery yet. I am hoping it will be in Oct. I just wanted to say how encouraging you all are. I commend you for all your hard work. I would like to continue to chat with you all, as i believe that the more support you have the better. My primary care doctor just took me off my birthcontrol pills today to see if it would help lower my blood pressure. I have my first meeting with the dietician on thursday. I am looking forward to the surgery and the new life change it will bring, but I am definitely scared of gaining weight back. my highest weight is 250, I am at 242 right now....would love to be 135....here's to goals and support!

Thanks again for all your words. Hope to talk with you all again soon.

  6. I agree with the others.....FIND ANOTHER SURGEON!!!!!!

There is nothing more important than your health and you deserve a surgeon that has experience and a multidisciplanary team that works with him to provide you with a complete program and follow up care. Where do you live? do some more research on more experienced surgeons. good luck- I hope you find someone soon and that they will work with you and take into account all the work you have already done. You also shouldn't have to pay all those fees with your insurance!!!
