  1. Hey Debi,

I read a post from you that said you had your surgery done in Cancun. I am looking into Cancun for the same reason: my family is worried about me going to a border town. Could you please tell me who did your surgery, the price and your experience? Any help would be great.

    Abby

  2. Congrats and good luck! I'm so jealous, I won't be banded until next month... if I'm lucky! I just thought I'd write a little note 'cause you seem young like me and we both have the same "highest weights."

  3. Congrats nancy! I'm so happy that things went well for you. Get your rest and let us all know how you're doing when you feel up to it!

  4. Do you have a restriction on carbs too or just calories? If not, then I'd be eating sugar-free popsicles until the cows came home! Walmart sells ones that are 35 cal each and 8 grams of carbs. My doc allows a few carbs on this diet, so I am sneaking 'em in. Did you take up the advice on getting gum? That might really help you at work. Last night I made jell-o and froze some crystal light so I could feel like I was "eating" something today.

  5. Great! Do you have to do a pre-op diet, or is your doctor happy with the diet you've been doing? I bet your surgery is going to go very well because of all the weight you've lost and the exercise you've been doing. You'll be my inspiration today when I get on the treadmill!

  6. Great! Do you have to do a pre-op diet?

  7. Great! I saw that you updated your blog. How is recovery going? Are you starving yet?

  8. Haven't seen you on the boards. How's it going?

  9. Haven't talked to you in forever it seems! I just wanted to congratulate you on your extraordinary weight loss! Congrats girl!

  10. Hey Colleen! I'm having my surgery done at Harper on Aug. 12th, just wanted to let you know if you have any questions!

  11. Hey I tried to comment on your blog but I guess my browser wouldn't let me or something. Anyway, your hospital stay sounded just like mine! Hilarious about the morphine... ha ha Glad to hear you surgery went so smoothly.

  12. Hey Nancy! Oh well, our dates are still very close together! So it's great to meet a new friend who can relate. I haven't started my pre-op diet, only need to start it a week before the surgery. How are you handling it? I'm a bit worried I won't stick to it.

  13. Hey you're getting banded two days before me! Congrats!

  14. Hey, I know it's getting closer to your surgery. Just letting you know that Harper is an excellent hospital and you're in good hands!

  15. Hey, I'm just about to have my surgery with Dr. Webber. Can you tell me who you went to in the Chicagoland area? I live just north of IL, and don't really want to keep traveling to Detroit either.

  16. Hey, I'm not too nervous about the surgery. I'm just nervous that I will screw up on the pre-op diet! I think I can do it, though. I was able to quit smoking for this!

  17. Hey! I just wanted to say that I read your posts about your weight-loss journey so far and you are truly an inspiration! Keep up the good work, and I hope everything goes smoothly for you and you get your band next month! You deserve it!

  18. Hey! I'm getting banded on the 12th too! I think you're about my size and close in age, so let's be friends and go through this together!

  19. Hey! We're both being banded on the same day, thought we could become friends and watch each other progress!

  20. How did your surgery go? My first day post-op was rough, but I am doing remarkably well today. Let me know how you're doing!

  21. I am doing pretty good. The first day pre-op was absolutely miserable for me. It wasn't just because I was in pain, but also because I was just REALLY uncomfortable. I also had a six hour car-ride so that was fun... Sorry to hear about your gas pains. I have been lucky enough to not have much problems with gas, but I did have a fever scare the other night! Everything is ok, though. I'm glad to hear from you and that your surgery went so well.

  22. I have to be on the pre-op diet for 7 days, but I am basically going to be on it for 9 because I am trying to kickstart my weight loss. No, it's not all liquid. Here's what I'm doing: 800 calories a day, Atkins Advantage shake for breakfast and lunch, small dinner of protein and vegetables. Obsess all you want, I think that we will do better if we are really focused. I haven't decided what protein to get post-op, and suggestions?

  23. I just wanted to say that you are such a sweet woman and I'm so happy that your surgery went so well!

  24. I saw that you wrote on Nancy's page about problems with your veins. I feel your pain, when I was a teenager I had to get my blood drawn a lot and I would always end up getting a butterfly needle in my hand after a bunch of botched sticks. I actually went to donate blood one time and they phlebotomist refused to even attempt to draw my blood! Fortunately for me I've got a vein in my right arm that has been working for the last few years. Let me know how it goes!

  25. I started to struggle towards the end of the night yesterday, but I made it! For dinner I had a piece of broiled cod with a very plain salad... not that exciting, but it did the trick.
