  1. Hi I am using a local bariatric nutritionist (got sleeved in Mexico) and am going to have the blood tests she recommended before I go see her. I was curious if the doctors order the same things tested. Here are the tests she recommended: 1. CMP 2. CBC 3. Serum Ferritin 4. B12/Folic Acid - Specimen must be protected from light 5. Magnesium (RBC) 6. B1 Plasma - Freeze specimen 7. 25 Hydroxy/Vitamin D 8. B6 9. Serum Retinol (vitamin A) - Protect specimen from light 10. Serum Copper (not a standard lab, but I would check) 11. Pre-albumin
  2. Sorry, just saw this! I have been quite weak until the last day or two. It made it hard to concentrate on getting in the protein and water, and then got weaker, and on we go. I seem to have caught it! Finally. I am in classes, dealing with the two boys and a difficult hubby (understatement) -- So far I have lost 20 lbs I think.

  3. Does anyone know the medical justification for the clear liquid stage, which seems to exist for some docs and not others? I ask because, like many others, I really cannot stand any of the clear protein drinks. I think Isopure tastes like someone put melted plastic or soap in it. Additionally, when I was travelling yesterday and really out of it I bought and drank half an odwalla soy milk super protein drink and had no reaction whatsover. Today, I ended up having two mix in water protein drinks -- the very light, high quality brand. Again no issue. Now, I am willing to follow the diet if it has a reason, but I really have to know it! THanks:confused1:

I am so happy with my surgery

Hi Lolita I live downtown in Georgetown! I got my sleeve on June 30th and am in my second week of recovery. Sounds like you are doing great! Just thought I'd give you a local "hi!"
  5. Thank you for the link - you have such interesting resourcces!
  6. I am day 4 from surgery and have an enormous, hard, hot, red swatch across the left side of my stomach. It is ITCHY and has little tiny blisters on it. The skin is quite swollen -- it reminds me of when I had a reaction to a vaccine -- like a shield of hard, red swollen tissue. Now it is spreading from just around the site where the liquid came out (brain not working - can't remember the name) to the other incisions. I have a call to a derm and have put cortisone and vitamin D on it but it still looks like a lobster and bothers me!!!
  7. She didn't call back...I will take some Benedryl though. Thanks for the suggestion.
  8. I didnt mean to scare you! After all, it's just four days out and most likely this will pass. I think perhaps it is going to be an improvement. I am noticing artificial food, as MacMadame says. I am really noticing smells and tastes and not interested in eating things that taste bad. I think, before surgery, my palate was perhaps too non-discriminating. Now I am noticing spices and subtle flavors. Perhaps this operation turns you into a real foodie-- appreciating subtle and complex flavoring and noticing when things taste badly. That's not such a bad thing really. And, my experience only of course, I am not feeling the need for antacids or anything and I did before the sleeve. But, it is good to be realistic. There will be changes and challenges. Best to know what they are and be prepared.
  9. YES!:tongue_smilie: And smell. It is almost like being pregnant in terms of smell. I had surgery this past Sunday, so this is day 4. I went home on the plane yesterday and in the airport I could smell all of the food (no interest though). I am having trouble my first day home finding anything palatable to eat. I had organic low sodium chicken broth and it tastes like dish water. I had ordered the isopure blue rasberry drink and it tastes to me like somewhat dumped some dishwashing liquid in it. I love the chicken broth at the hospital, but it was real food not canned --you could just tell. I am trying to drink water with a propel mix in it now and am finding it gross. It's actually kind of posing a problem.
