Thank you all for your valuable input! Sounds like most of you would do it separately. I hope to hear from a few bandsters who have done it together and get their story.

It's great to meet you, too!
I really like Dr. Ceppa. He took a lot of time with us at our initial consult. He said the lapdabd would be perfect for both Hubby & me, but he did warn me that DH will lose alot faster than I will - story of my life :blushing:
I like how the office takes care of everything too. I see a pulmonologist today - I must get tested for sleep apnea.
I wish you the best of luck on 9/16. Please let me know how everything is going.
Are you local? We are from Kenhorst, so the hospital is not far at all.
Take care,

Hubby and I are getting banded by Dr. Ceppa. We are 2 month into our required 6 month diet. How are things going for you?

For those of you who have done this-
Would you do it this way again - now that you know what you were in for?
What pros & cons did you experience as a result of having surgery together?
Do you have young children - if so how did you manage with them? We have a 9yo DD.
Hubby and I are trying to decide if we should have the surgery on the same day. Our surgeon said he would do this if we wanted.
TIA for your input.

My hubby & I are doing this together - hopefully we will be banded by the beginning of 2010.
Never again will I be too tired to make love.
Never again will our stomachs get in the way when we make love.
Never again will I tell my daughter I am too tired to play with her.
Never again will I tell my hubby "No" when he asks me to play golf with him because I am too out of shape. I intend to learn the game and wear those cute little skort outfits that the pros wear

My husband and I are doing this together. He is telling everyone about his planned surgery. I, on the other hand, have told my immediate family & my best friend - that's it. I am not embarresed, I am just very private. I also do not want to feel pressure & feel like I have to constantly focus on my diet & amount of weight loss. I want this to become a natural way of living for me - I need to take the focus away from constantly thinking about food, dieting & OMG am I losing fast enough. I hope that make sense. Good luck to all of you.

Thanks everyone.

Sorry for your ordeal! I am questioning the post op pain - gas & incisions.

I am sorry to hear about your ordeal. I hope you are doing better. I am talking about the post op pain and the gas.
Thanks!

I have a pretty high tolerance for pain & I have endured very serious pain - almost lost 3 fingers on left hand, ectopic pregnancy - tube burst & natural childbirth twice. With that said, I want to be prepared. I know everyone is different, but really, how bad was it?
Thanks!

:thumbup:Hi All,
My name is Dawn and I am from PA. I am a 44yo mother of two beautiful girls aged 19 & 9. I have been dieting & overweight all my life. So here I am. My hubby is 44 also & started gaining weight after he gave up active sports.
Hubby & I will visit our surgeon next Thursday for our initial consult. We have Highmark PPO Blue & they require 6 mos of dieting. My BMI is 37 & I have Hypertension. Hubby's BMI is 40; he has sleep apnea & hypertension.
This site is a wealth of info & I will be here often. Thanks to all of you for your help & congrats to those of you who have been successful!

The fatty liver was diagnosed through a blood test. I have blood tests annually to monitor my Liver Enzymes. When the fatty liver was first discovered I had a liver biopsy to rule out cirhosis & hepatitis.

Hi All,
I am just beginning the process. I have a question. I have a fatty liver (diagnosed years ago). Will this prevent me from having the surgery?
Thanks,
Dawn

Hi All,
Hubby & I went to a WLS seminar at the Reading Hospital. We are both planning on getting banded. His BMI is 40 & mine is 35. I have high blood pressure & high cholesterol. Hubby has those plus sleep apnea & pre-diabetes. We must wait to start the process until July 1st when we can switch our health insurance over to BCBS PPO. We currently have Keystone HMO Central & we were told they do not pay for any bariatric surgery. We both hope to be banded by January. It seems like there is a great group of people here on the boards. TIA for your support & answering any questions I have in the coming months.

Hey Boo,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Dr. Ceppa said he does not have a band preference. He said we can pick one or he will chose.
Anyway, I just wanted to wish you luck - 2 days to go - yeah for you! Please let me know how you made out.
Take care,
Dawn
