Hi All, DH & I are being banded on 1/27/2010. We finally have our date after going through six months of insurance hoops!

My Hubby & I hope to be banded in January. We should have surgery dates shortly. We have been going through the 6 month nutrition counseling & all the pre-op testing. My BMI is 38 with 2 co-morbidities. Hubby's is 43. We are both 45 and have been married for 21 years. It only makes sense that we do this together. We are not going to be banded on the same day - but hopefully within a few weeks of each other. I look forward to staying in touch with all of you!:thumbup:

Hi Sharon! Welcome to the board! I am from Kenhorst. Dr. Ceppa will be doing my surgery and my hubby's hopefully in January. Hey Boo- 51 lbs. down - Way to go girl!!!! DH & I have 2 more months to go. The Nut told us everything is right on track for January surgeries. She told us to start trying Protein supplements. Can you recommend any? Take care, Dawn

I am not yet banded. I had my psych consult on Friday and on e of the issues the Doc told me to be mindful of is that it takes a while for your mind to catch up to your body and that the loss will not register right away. This sounds like the issue that many of you are going through.

I have this book. the recipes are simple. It also tells you which stage (ie: mushies) the recipe can be used for.

I have never had Soy Milk. Does it have a good taste? I don't know why I am a little hesitant to try it:sad:. I love milk - I normally drink 1%, but would like to give Soy milk a try, as I see many bandsters use it. Thanks, Dawn

Thanks everyone for your feedback. DH & I are having the surgery together, so we have a built in support system. 78% divorce rate is HUGE! We too are on a 6 mos. diet. 3 more visits to go!:thumbup:

Hi there, I completed 3 months of my 6 mo. supervised "diet". I have not lost a pound -;(. The nutritionist told me I will be ok as long as I do not gain. My BMI is 38 - so that may be why she told me that? I have Highmark PPO Blue for my insurance.

I was tested on 9/3/09. I have mild sleep apnea. I went back on 9/19/09 to repeat the test with a CPAP machine. I meet with a Pulmonologist on 10/22/09 to review everything & I guess get a CPAP. I'm irritated that they could not get me in sooner to review everything & get the ball rolling.

Why Lap Band vs. RNY?:tt1: I have until January to decide and my surgeon said he would perform either one. I need to lose about 85 lbs. I am second guessing my lap band decision. It seems like the weight comes off so much easier with RNY. My issue with head hunger is also a concern for me. Thanks for your input Dawn
