5 weeks out....exercise now the new goal

I'm ready to get out and kill it however my doctor cautioned me against doing a heavy duty work out for at least two months. I have been getting in 4 miles of walking/running every 3 days. I feel like I'm not losing enough with all of this being done and eating properly, but now that I've looked at a lot of my January buddies, we are all around the same mark for weight loss so I guess my 35 lbs isn't that bad! Best wishes on your work out and keep up the good work! I need to find some more motivation so I can burn off more weight.

6 week roll call! Sleeved 1/20/15

I am and it's driving me nuts. I stalled at week three and then week five I dropped ten. Now I'm on week seven and I feel like I'm stalling again. I'm losing a pound here or there. Maybe my expectations are off! I know I don't want to lose it too fast. All together from pre surgery to after surgery I've lost 35 which is amazing...I know! I can tolerate any food also, but I'm doing really good to not introduce bad stuff back into my new stomach and life! I'm getting in 4 miles of walking at least three times a week. I want to get a trainer again and join a gym, so more to come!

    January Sleevers ❄️

I've been MIA, but finally five weeks out and the stall has broke this week! YAY! I was getting so depressed and tired of seeing no movement and then all of a sudden 5 more lbs fall off. This proceudre is truly teaching me patience, self control, and endurance! I hope all of you have been well and are hanging in there! Much success to everyone!

    January Sleevers ❄️

I'm at three weeks and I can't break out of the 230's and it's irritating my nerves! I need to up my game on working out. I am hoping it kicks back into gear next week! I'm going back to work on Monday so things are going to be a little different!

@ downsizingdiva I added a bit of chicken broth and teryakii sauce and it was moist enough to go down.

    January Sleevers ❄️

Today was my first day on pureed food and I was in heaven I had 1/4 of cream of wheat and a soft scrambled egg. I couldn't even eat it all, but it felt good to feel a little normal and not have a shake or smoothie, or soup! Dinner was a pureed chicken leg which wasn't bad at all. If I can make it past these two weeks, then I can do anything! Lawd help me!

    January Sleevers ❄️

I'm down a total of 26lbs since I started my pre-op diet and that makes 12 lbs loss since surgery on 1/12. I am definitely ready for the next phase. It's been tough holding on to eating liquids only and water. I've had my fill of protein shakes and would like to get to pureed sooner than later! LOL! I have been trying to mix things up and try a variety of soups and that has helped but a girl is ready to actually chew on something of substance. So Monday is my big day and I've already started planning in my mind all the healthy things I can puree, or get in that are soft!!! YAY! I hope you guys are doing well and healing well! SM

    January Sleevers ❄️

I'm post op four days now and I'm starting to feel hunger pains despite being on a liquid diet still. I've been told I have two more weeks of this and then I can go on to puree once I have my follow up visit. This is driving me insane because I feel if I eat something I'll feel better in the tummy. SIGH!!!!!

    Post op pain

OMG....this is me. It's the worst. My hospital stay and after surgery experience was pleasant, no vomitting, or fever...nothing. But when it comes to drinking or swallowing I keep having this same pain Jamie mentioned right in between my rib cage. I am hoping that this dies down soon, so I can get into the swing of things. I just got home yesterday, and slept pretty good throughout the night. It ranges from the feeling of hunger to constriction of liquids. I am miserable with this.

    Ahhh, pre-surgery jitters!

Ladies I completely understand. I truly had to keep myself busy during the two week liquid diet. I painted several rooms, cleaned carpets, changed bedrooms, organized cabinets, and anything else to keep me from focusing on eating. I lost a total of 15lbs during this time and I have to be honest there were a few days that I didn't succeed and managed to eat a small salad. I didn't go nuts, but I couldn't resist the need to eat something. (i know, bad me) Surgery was on Monday and went well. I'm extremely tired from the anesthesia, and morphine prescribed, but I'm slowly but surely coming around. Having gas was the worse part of surgery and learning not to swallow more than I should is a new experience. Other than that, I'm looking forward to this new lifestyle. I'm on high Protein diet now to help with healing, and I"m hoping that goes well also.
  12. Lots of new things going on for me in this new year. Started my 2 week (starvation) liquid diet on 12/29, not as bad as I thought it would be. I do see food EVERYWHERE and it isn't easy cooking for my husband and 7 year old. They try not to tempt me, but it doesn't take much to do so. My two older ones are helping mom out by doing the liquid fast with me, which is so cool. We keep each other in line! Now if I could just get this next week over and get to surgery I'll really be doing something! Oh yes....So I had my EGD today. I totally psyched myself up that this was going to be an awful experience, and that it was just a pre-cursor to my sleeve experience being the same. However, much to my surprise it was pleasant, easy, and I didn't have any issues at all. Anesthesia didn't cause any problems and I woke right up. I'm now ready to conquer my fears and get this surgery out the way so I can discover my new body. There are so many things I could be nervous about, but I'm trying my best to be positive and optimistic about my not so far off future. I guess I'm still just a mixed bag of emotions!

    Tick, tick, tick,tick.....almost time 1/12/15

It went well. I've got to get over being gassy before I can go home, other than that it went well. I've been trying to walk to get over it, but it's not working.
  14. Ready_For_Me_13

Hi, Jan 12 is my date!

Wonderful! Glad to hear all went okay. If I can get this gas to pass I will be discharged today.
  15. Ready_For_Me_13

Hi, Jan 12 is my date!

Well, I'm settled in after surgery but full of gas! If that could subside I'd be into something. I've been trying to walk every hour for a few minutes. How did you make out?
  16. So it's finally here! Sleeve day! I've got all that I can in order. My kids are taken care of, house cleaned, dinner cooked for the week for them, and my bag packed. I may have to take a Benadryl to sleep tonight because my nerves are on edge. I am really excited and know this is the last half of my life going in the best direction possible. Best wishes to those who are also going in this week and I'll say a prayer for good health for us all.

Best wishes on surgery tomorrow. I'm headed in also!!!

    Ahhh, pre-surgery jitters!

Well....I have five days to go and I am starting to feel the jitters and pressure. It doesn't help that my meralgia pasthetica (pain in the thigh) is starting to flare up. I am really looking forward to getting it over with and starting on the path to better eating and habits. I haven't been able to work out much in a formal workout, but I have been super busy like everyone else trying to re-organize things, painting, changing my room around, etc. Not sure who else has 1/12 as their date, but I will be sure to post how I make out on Monday once I'm stabelized in my room. Best wishes again to everyone and I'm looking forward to all the pictures and updates on your success!
  19. I think this is going to be the hardest part of the process for me. How am I going to survive on broth and Protein shakes for two weeks while my family indulges on normal food?! They promised to try and do some days on liquid with me but that's easier said that done! It's the end result that will make this worth it, so let me stop complaining! This time next year I will be a new person!!!! C'mon 1/12/15 so we can get this party started! (surgery date)
  20. Ready_For_Me_13

Starting my 2 week diet on the 29.

I've gone through the same thing! I really thought doing the liquid diet was going to be tough, but after day 3 it seems that my body has gotten accustomed to not eating as much. I kind of taught myself to ignore the desire to eat by keeping extremely busy! My surgery is on 1/12 and I don't want any drama so I'm trying to do exactly as they have told me. Bread is my weakness so I purposely stay away from it while on this diet!! LOL! Best wishes to you. Keep me posted on your progress. I see you go in one day after me! I'll be sure to keep my laptop with me in the hospital to check in.
  21. Ready_For_Me_13

    Ahhh, pre-surgery jitters!

Awwww...I'm sorry you are going through this alone, but you will be fine and kicking butt at this weight loss thing before you know it. I am extremely nervous as well, and only have a little over a week left 1/12/15. I have thought a few times about changing my mind, but I keep telling myself I've come too far to turn back now and that I'll be in a much better place with 100+ lbs off of me. I had my EGD completed today and it was something I was also scared about, but to my surprise it was a piece of cake! Before I knew it, I was awake and ready to go home. So....I know my VSG won't be that simple, I'm mentally telling myself it won't be that bad in order to push on. I wish you much success! Keep calm, take a few deep breaths, and buckle up for the new and fantabulous you that is coming!!!!
  22. So.....I got my approval for surgery after 3 days submission from my physician! Pretty awesome right?! Well now I'm getting nervous and excited all at the same time because this is becoming more "real" to me, and 1/12/15 will be here in no time. All of that nutritional counseling, and talks have went out the door because I am panicking! YIKES! What should I order to make sure my protein is in stock for after surgery? I've heard the Unjury is good and have some samples I'll be trying, but how much of it do I realistically need? I have to do a liquid diet for two weeks and was told I can use regular broth, and of course the unjury, but I'm worried I'll get tired of it quickly. Any other suggestions? I swear someone needs to make a bariatric sugery book from their experience with all kinds of recipies for the post surgery process! If there is one then please feel free to direct my attention to it. One can only drink so many shakes and we need to get in 75+ grams of protein! One last concern....the V word! VITAMINS, some folks say Flintstone vitamins twice a day are okay and satisfy your multivitamin need. Is this true? What kind of calcium vitamins should I try, what about B-12 vitamins or shots? Help this newbie out please!

    Forever and Always

Congratulations on making a decision! It was tough for me to decide also, however I'm going down on 1/12 and very much looking forward to it. Best wishes and I hope all works out for you!
  24. Ready_For_Me_13

Hi, Jan 12 is my date!

Hey there.....I'm going to have mine on the 12th as well. We'll have to keep up with each other for encouragement. I'm starting my liquid diet tomorrow and I wasn't told I could eat anything other than liquid, so you're lucky in that fact. I'm told the first three days are the worse and then it gets easier so I'm looking forward to keeping myself busy on those first three days so that I don't have time to concentrate on how hungry I am or think that I am!!! LOL! Best wishes!
  25. Ready_For_Me_13

Almost time for that two week liquid diet! :-(

Well tomorrow is the real deal for me! I start my all liquid diet tomorrow and then there is no turning back because surgery is two weeks later. I am scheduled for an EGD on Friday, so hopefully it won't make me too sick since I'm not eating much during the week. I think I'm psychologically ready, but hope my tummy is on the same page. This is the first step to the new me for next year and I'm so grateful I have so many of you to go on this journey with! Best wishes to all of you and keep me posted on your progress!!!!
