  1. I'm so proud of everyone banded on the 7th (postponed until the 21st due to my lame insurance), As I'm supposed to be on here making my suggestions as well!, BUT I'm about to start the pre-op liquid diet tomorrow. I've worked my way down all week to mush, and as of 6 am, I dust off the blender.

I am taking notes, and glad to see my homegirls spidey mom & halleluja girl are doing good..... wish me luck. Also, My doc says No cream Soups and no red liquids, do to vomiting (they have to be able if your vomiting blood) soo hmmmm???

  2. I'm due to start mine saturday. I had already started it when I got the phone call that my date was rescheduled (from 5/7 to 5/21) It also bought me time to properly stock up on liquids and babyfoods for post op, and I strated gradually working my way down to liquids, figured instead of jumping head first into it. SO now, 3 days doing that, I'm down to basically 1 solid meal a day (dinner) and it's working. so by saturday I should be down to 2 liquid meals and a semi-solid dinner. My neutritionist said it's easier that way because you don't starve.

  3. Dr. Piotr Gorecki at Methodist in Brooklyn, I have Health Plus w/medicaid, and I have to see him in the Surgical clinic. He takes both, but I'm waiting for my approval right now since I am the first patient w/ health plus that he has ever seen.. I should know by this week considering my surgery date was moved from 5/7 to 5/21, and his assistant faxed over 26 pages of notes including 3 doctors letters for my co-morbidities htt://www.Drgorecki.com

  4. They changed my date to May 21st, on monday morning, I'm still really aggrivated about that, because I was mentally and physically prepared for it, spent all day monday hysterical and had to see my pcp at 6 am yesterday and got the only attitude from him, and they changed my date BECAUSE OF HIM. he didn't properly write the letter to my insurance. so it has to be re-done. BUT it also buys me time b/c I had a sleep study done last week to confirm my sleep apnea so the full report will be in by the time I'm on the table.

Spideymom, I wish you the best of luck tomorrow, and look forward to hearing more positive things from you, and Richie & John- THANK YOU.

NYU doesn't take my insurance. I wanted to see dr. ren, but Dr. Gorecki at methodist is the only one who I can see, he's a nice guy and I trust him... So Thank you everyone!!!!

  5. Don't feel bad, I got re-scheduled at 7:30am this morning, and I was supposed to have it done on thursday (5/7/09) I'm pushed back to may 21st now all because of my PCP's office and he didn't word his letter right. AND, His office wouldn't let me reshedule my april 24th appointment (which I showed up for ON TIME but the office was closed- without a phone call) so now there is a gap in my 6 months worth of notes. I'm LIVID:cursing: right now. But like the person a few posts said, thank god we're still getting banded. It just sucks they pushed you back until july.

P.S- What a wonderful way to wake up eh? the phone ringing telling you it's not going to happen, after watching your entire family eat a good dinner while your sipping on chicken broth- starving!

  6. If you really feel the need to tell them a medical reason tell them you had your gall bladder removed or appendix. That will explain the soreness but wont garner a lot of questions. But really you should not have to explain, I dont want to tell coworkers because I dont want the food police watching everything I do and dont do. And I dont want the gossip that is sure to happen as people just dont have enough of their own business to mind, they have to talk about everyone else. Maybe once I clear bandster hell and start dropping I will feel different but for now just my immediate family, husband and 1 friend knows (who also has done this).

I told my bosses and co-workers (including the other receptionist that is covering for me) that I'm having an ovarian cyst removed (would explain lower abdomin sutchers- as per my sister & girlfriends who actually had that done) So far, it's working, we'll see next monday when I go back to work (surgery is thursday (5/7)

  7. I'm 4'11 and 205, and also had to go through thte 6 months... I believe my insurence approved me, all my paper work is being submitted tomorrow by the surgeon and my insurence gave me the referrals to see him.... I too had to do sleep studies (b/c my arthritis wasn't enough of a factor) and come to find out friday that my pre-op testing proved that I have increased hemoglobin levels so my surgery should be a breeze.... 4 days and counting!

  8. First let me introduce myself, My Name Is SarahBellzz, I'm from brooklyn n.y, I'm being banded by dr. Piotr Gorecki @ ny methodist hospital. weight is 203.5 height 4'11, co-morbidities are: sleep apnea, High cholesterol, and Severe hip arthritis (that doesn't qualify for the replacement it needs b/c of my age and weight) I'm Nervous. to be completely honest terrified. I'm just looking for other people who are on the same path as me, and that understand exactly what it is I am going through (b/c I've always been the fat kid in the corner) I just wanted to say hello, and so far reading everyones posts has helped me mellow out just a bit. I'm trying to use this to find other people in the NYC area that have been banded by my surgeon as well. Talk to me!!!!

  9. Hello gonnaride! Good luck with your surgery, Mine is scheduled for thursday (5/7/09) and your lucky. My surgeon Dr. Piotr Gorecki here in Brooklyn N.Y seemed very optomistic with me this past friday, and got all excited that my cholesterol levels were up b/c that means I'm 100% qualified for the surgery, due to the really crappy insurence I have. I wish you all the best and good luck, and we are now on this path together
