    about 20lbs lighter here

Girl you are hot as is, you're gonna be smokin hot after surgery!
  4. Glad things went well and you're ready to go! Girl you'll be so focused on food and when you can eat after recovery, you won't even think about smoking lol

  5. Just based on the EGDs that I've witnessed, most of the time a biopsy is taken routinely. Since the doc is down there anyway, may as well do it.
  6. Your body naturally fluctuates 2-3 pounds a day. If you weigh yourself at night, you'll be heavier because of all the food and drink you've taken in that day. When you weigh yourself in the morning, you will be lighter because for the past 8 hours or so you've just been sleeping and your body has been getting rid of stuff from the day before. This is why it's important to weigh yourself at the same time each day - preferably in the morning after you've gone to the bathroom and before you've at anything, wearing close to no clothing. And really only weigh yourself once a day if you have to do it daily. Otherwise you'll drive yourself craves with the natural pounds your body gains/loses throughout the day. Sounds like you are doing everything else by the book. Good luck!
  7. Whenever I get the look or a comment I always say very suggestively "what I put in my mouth is none of your concern. Do you want to talk about what goes in your mouth?" and that usually shuts them up lol This reason is why I only told a handful of people about my surgery. Of course everyone at work knows even though I didn't tell them because they heard it through the grapevine. But in my personal life, I don't want the added pressure and negativity of other people. Good luck!

    How long?

I'm not at goal, but am curious where you got this information from. If I were you I wouldn't listen to it. You've lost 47 so far and that's amazing. Everyone's bodies are different - some people are fast losers and have lots 100+ pounds in as little as 6 months. Some people are slow losers and have done 30 pounds in a year. To me that's still an accomplishment because I wouldn't be able to lose that and keep it off if I didn't have the band. As far as your own weight loss - are you doing your job so the band can do its job? Continue to make healthy food choices, correct portion sizes, and exercise regularly.
  9. haha so are you ready for surgery?

    Freedom Fighters Weekly Weigh In

Hey! I'm 1.2 more pounds away from ONEderland than you are. I've had a hard time being patient with these last 5.6 pounds. Well I guess 5.7 to put me under 200. I've been losing very steadily, but now that I see how close I am I can't help but try to race to the finish line lol are you having the same problem?

    Best Birthday Yet

Happy Birthday Erin! Congrats on being banded. It was a mind-opening experience for me.
  14. I agree with Cordelia. This isn't about starving ourselves. It kills me to read posts where people know they are way too tight and can only take a few bites, and they're okay with that just for the sake of impatience and being able to lose those pounds a little sooner. You're putting your own health and the life of your band at risk by doing that. I'm glad to hear you followed your teams' advice and had it removed. Hopefully it goes well and you start to see that scale moving!! Good luck!
  15. Keep me updated because I'm curious as to what happens! I have an 11cc realize band-c as well
  16. Wow regardless of whether you had restriction or not I can't believe he put 9.5cc in the first fill! By no restriction, you mean 1/2cup - 1 cup of food doesn't keep you full for 3-5 hours? What type of food do you normally eat? How much? How long do you go in between meals? I've got no answers for you. I hope you get some resolution.
  17. I'm excited too! I don't really have a trick for eating chicken. I try to make sure it's moist just because I've read so much on here about making sure it's moist, but honestly I've ate a few bites of not-that-moist chicken too. I had my fill on a monday, and per Dr. C's orders was allowed to start to a regular diet that Thursday, and had chicken that day.Knock on wood, but I've been very fortunate enough that I haven't had any food intolerances - I've been able to eat bread, rice, pasta, and all the other things that you read some people can't tolerate. I know after each fill there is a chance that I won't be able to tolerate them, but so far so good.

    How are you doing?

    Greek Yogurt?

I can find the Fage Total 0% plain greek yogurt at the big grocery store by my house. Make sure you get the nonfat or lowfat version. Also I'd suggest getting the plain (nonflavored) version because the vanilla flavored or the ones that have add-ins like honey or fruits have lots and lots of sugars/carbs. It's better to buy it plain and then mix in your own stuff.

    Reflux

sometimes reflux can be a sign that your band is too tight. You should speak with your doctor about this.

    Greek Yogurt?

For me, the big win is that it has a thicker, creamier texture that I enjoy more. Greek yogurt has a little more protein in it as well. Overall though plain nonfat greek yogurt and plain nonfat yogurt kinda are pretty similar.

    Be Honest....

haha I'm cracking up because I'm an RN, and was reading through this posting thinking wow there are a lot of us on here. Anywho as others have said, I'm qualified to access mediports and what not. I would hope in a situation like that, that I would be able to find help somewhere. Even though I know the technique and would be able to do it if necessary, I would probably go to the ER and have to walk them through the procedure. Just in case there were any legal/insurance ramifications if something were to go wrong....always have someone else to blame it on Plus I'm one of those better safe than sorry people because it seems like if something CAN happen, it always happens to me. If I were in a third world country where this were not possible, and I literally couldn't keep myself hydrated or swallow my own saliva, then yea I would. If it was just a matter of not being able to eat the foods I want but still be able to eat sliders, I'd suck it up and stick it out.

    Need HELP!!!

sounds like you know where the problem is...if you aren't making the best food choices, the band isn't going to do all the work for you. It's a partnership - you need to make sure you are doing your job, so the band can do it's job. You've lost 60 pounds and that is AMAZING! Get back to eating healthier foods, making good portion choices, and get to exercising to really kick start your metabolism. Also, if you don't feel enough restriction it may be time for a fill again. Feeling like a failure is only going to make things worse. Just acknowledge it for what it is and move on. You can do it - you've already lost an amazing amount of weight. Good luck!

    Grease, Guilt and Failure

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so guilty. Sometimes I think we are too hard on ourselves. Think of what you WOULD have ate before you were banded if you went to LJS? I know I would have got a couple of orders of the shrimp and ate ALL of them with the batter and extra greasey goodness on the side. Try to focus on the little accomplishments like this, and the fact that you've lost an amazing 59 pounds. For me personally, when I feel guilty over things like this, I feel defeated - when I feel defeated, I just want to give up and then I REALLY eat bad. Take it for what it is, and keep on moving. You can do it!

    2nd fill no restriction- ugh

Like coloradobanding, I also chose not to tell everyone for that exact reason. I just don't want to deal with the added pressure. It takes a couple fills to kick in. Everyone really is different. I've only had 1 fill and I think I'm only less than 0.5cc away from my sweet spot. Some people it takes multiple multiple times before you hit it. Try not to get discouraged. You also need to be doing your job too, even if the band isn't doing it's job. You better start chewing things up well because if you aren't used to doing that by the time you get restriction, you're going to end up getting stuck. For now, just try using that will power to make healthy food choices and try to limit your portions as much as possible. In the mean tim e with no restriction the best thing you can do is focus on healthy food choices, and really get some good exercises in. Try to be patient! Hang in there, you can do it!
