  2. Just Banded,

I am sorry you had to go thru that with your mother in law. That is why I am SO glad ONLY my husband knows I was banded. I would love to tell everyone, but I can't handle having to defend my choice right now. I have to focus on changing how I think, feel, and react to food. I have to work on fixing my obession with food and not others ignorance toward the band and people that are banded. I was having problems with my stomache and people at work knew I was having surgery, because of those issue. I did not and would never tell them about the band. I don't need to watched or lectured. So at this point think the most important person that needed to know knows. As well as my BANDSTER BUDDIES. Oh, BTW did I say I LOVE THIS SITE!!

  3. My husband and i were talking yesturday and he said that i should do a reward program for my self. For every so many lbs that i lose i reward my self with something. Like every 20lbs or what ever i set up for my self. And he said that it should be something good not something i would buy anyway even if i didn't loose the weight, something i normally wouldn't do. Like that pricey purse i didn't want to spend the money on or go to the spa for the day. Things like that. Do you think this is a good idea? I would love to hear what you would reward yourself with and how often.

This is an awesome idea! My DH came up with a similar system. For every 25lbs I lose I will be rewarded with a gold charm for my charm braclet.:scared2:

  4. Wow! I am newly banded also. I am so sorry about your band slippage. I didn't know the band could slip the first day. If you researched your options and discussed things with your husband and you are ok with the VSG I think you should go for it. I have read a lot of good stuff about the VSG. There is a blogger, Wasabubblebutt, who knows ALOT about this stuff. She is always posting. Maybe you could look her up and talk to her. Once again, I am sorry about your slippage.

  5. I am watching it too! I was just banded a week ago. I got to start mushies today so I think I over did it on the mashed potatoes and am feeling horrible. I was just so excited to have something besides liquids. These guys look great. I couldn't do it with out the band and I am praying that I can with! Keep your head up and keep up the good work!

OMG.... you are so lucky. I was also band on May 5th and I can not have soft foods until May 26th. I can only drink Protein Drinks and Water until then. Man, did I say your were lucky!

  6. Totally agree, Bek! And in these days of Spanx or other supportive undergarments, it's not like anyone will even be able to tell! But they can sure tell how overweight and unhealthy I am now...

Bring on the loose skin! I'm ready to be HEALTHY again!

Oh and I'm also taking Biotin, and am going to make sure I get enough Protein, lots of Water, and exercise both cardio and strength-training. I've heard that all helps. AND I will buy a few great push-up bras.

    What is Biotin?

  7. Has anybody tried ways to speed up their weight loss such as diet pills, Water pills, particular types of diets etc? if so were you successful? If you were successful how did you do it? I'm tired of the SLOW PACE. :)

I am new to all of this, but my personal mantra is Slow and Steady wins the race. Remember the Tortise and the Hare. I was banded so I could lose weight in a healthy manner. I know this is going to be a long process, but I got stick wth it and stay the course. It's HELL now, but a year from now you are going to have Rocking Body! Hang in there you can do it!

  8. Hi all!

I just wanted to introduce myself. I was banded on May 4th and have been doing great since. I struggle a little with the liquid but my surgical follow up visit is this coming Thursday and I'm hoping to be stepped up a notch to creamer Soups. It's really not so bad with the clear, just wanting a little variety.

This looks like a great forum, very active, etc!! I've been around to others and a part of other groups but the information here seems more tailored to the band and more organized too!

I'm not sure what else to say but thanks for listening. See you around!

    Hello Deminia:

I was banded on 5-5-09. Tomorrow 5-12 will be my second week of Proteins. They were o.k. last week. This week i can barely drink them. I HATE Protein DRINKS! You're lucky you can have broth on your post-op, because I can not. I can only have Protein and Water. This is a great forum and you will read a lot of great information here. Well Good Luck and Welcome!:)

  9. I had a piece of birthday cake about a 1.5 inch piece maybe 2 inch piece...... and a couple spoons of blueberry clobber but figured hey it's my birthday....

that's the least of my issues not sure if the sugar caused it but I've been hungry since I got home from work...trying to maintain but made chillie for dinner did ok then had a pudding up and a fudgecicle all SF but still....

    Joe:

It is your birthday! So if you're going to cheat today is a perfect day to do it. You will get back on track tomorrow. I was just banded on 5-5-09 and boy do I wish I could have a pretzel, fish, ANYTHING right now. I am SO hungry and it is so hard for me to get my Protein in. I HATE THESE Protein DRINKS! I AM IN BANDSTERS HELL AND I AM LOSING MY MIND!! SORRY FOR RANTING!:)

  10. moonbeam:

I am a new bandster. I have a lot of weight to lose. I know this is not going to be an easy journey, but I have to believe I can do it or I will fail myself before I even give myself a chance. This is going to be the hardest thing I have ever had to do, because I must have willpower and self control to make this work. The band is a tool just like an oxygen tank. If you have emphysema you would not continue to smoke and then declare the oxygen tank doesn't work. Same with the band. We can not eat whatever we want and then expect to drop weight and keep it off. We have to work hard and want it more than any other dieter. We are not perfect, so we will mess up, but we have to be able to move on and make better choices our next go around. YOU CAN DO THIS! YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE YOU CAN DO IT! I set mini goals for myself. Each time a lose 20 lbs. I am going to reward myself with a charm. This will serve as a remainder of my journey. If you want we could help each by checking in once a week and discussing our SUCCESSES as well as slip ups.

  11. Thanks Amy for banding! I have had my band for four days. I am definately in Bandster HELL! I am not only hungry, but I am having hunger pangs today. I can only have Protein Drinks and Water, Vitamin water or Decaf tea for three weeks. I have so much gas I feel like I am going to explode. Sometimes the gas will come out and other times it will just stay there. It really hurts when it is stuck. I notice when I sleep on my side even though it may hurt a bit the gas comes out. Please tell me how you made it through Bandster HELL? What did you do when you really got hungry? I've nursed my hunger pangs with Protein drinks, but that is not hitting the spot. Please advise! Thanks! :glare:

  12. DaChanginQueen,

Congrats on your 5-06 band date! My doctor told me I will be on clear liquids the first 24 hours only. After that I will be on full liquids. I can have juice Plus shakes, sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast, Boost High Protein, Ensure High Protein, whey or Soy Protein, Glucerna or Choice DM, or Isopure 60 cc every hour. Along with Water, Crystal Light, Unsweetened decaffeinated tea, Fruit20, and/or Propel Fitness Water. I was also told absolutely NO Carbonated drinks, caffeinated drinks, gum, or straws. If it is not on the list I can't have it. I have to find out about the Vitamins, because he did say I would need some gummies. But I was in Walmart yesterday picking up things I would need and I came across a One A Day Women Mix In. I compared it to the One A Day Vitamin bottle and they were the same, so I am going to ask if I could try that in lieu of the Gummies.
