    Calling all June sleevers

Just got my date.... June 22!

    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Hello Ladies, I've missed you all! I'm happy to report that I FINALLY HAVE A SURGERY DATE!!! After 2 years, 2 hospitals, 2 surgeons.... I'll be getting sleeved on June 22 by Dr Alami at SSF and I couldn't be happier. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to the walk (we're going to a wedding that morning). I do hope to get together with everyone soon.
  4. I finally got my surgery date! June 22 is the day for me, I'll see you at Kaiser, Babysista! I'm so excited to finally have my date, and I'll be getting rid of my stinking gallbladder at the same time. (Do you think they'll let my play with my organs after surgery? I'd just like to say goodbye, and I'd like to punch my gallbladder. Now that I have the date, this just got real! It's time to prepare. I have tiny tupperware containers to buy, recliners to rearrange, a house to de-clutter. I'm stoked!
  5. I just had a phone appt today with Kirk, and now I have an appt with Dr Alami next week. I could have had one tomorrow morning, but I just didn't have enough notice to get the time off work. Dang! I'm hoping to know my surgery date next week! Yippie!
  6. Happy to hear everyone is doing well and reaching overweight! I'm 1.1 lbs from scheduling surgery! I'm nervous and excited, I've been waiting so long and things are finally going to be moving forward. Yikes! Hope you're all doing well. I can't wait to post that I actually have a surgery date!
  7. Does your program only do band? I started 2 years ago, wanting the band. My surgeon wanted me to lose 85 lbs before surgery. I lost 50, and he wasn't satisfied and wouldn't schedule surgery. In that time I've changed my mind and my mind is made up, I'm getting sleeved! I switched surgeons and I was asked to lose 30 lbs before surgery. I had to do all my pre-op tests, labs and psych consults etc all over again. If you can get a personal trainer, I highly recommend it. Having a trainer really makes a difference, way more than just having a gym membership.

    "Fad Surgery"

My grandfather had a partial gastrectomy in the 1950's to resolve his ulcers. He had about 80% of his stomach removed, and lived 45+ years without complication.

    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

I'd love to see you ladies! It's been way too long. Hopefully once this rain goes away we can plan a walk or something?

    Weight Loss before surgery

My first surgeon (when I wanted the band) wanted me to lose 85 lbs before surgery. I started at 335, and lost 50 lbs, and he still didn't want to schedule surgery. I got discouraged and gained about 30 lbs back over the course of 18 months. I got a new surgeon who only wants me to lose 20-25 lbs before surgery. Unfortunately it's so much harder to lose weight this time around. I'll get there soon though!

    Gallbladder and Sleeve

My program said they DO NOT do both at the same time and I'd have to do the gallbaldder first, then 6 weeks later I could have the sleeve. BUT when I talked with my actual surgeon, he said it would be no problem to do both at the same time and he'd like to do a single incision through the belly-button.
  12. Woohoo! Way to go Ashley! 100 lbs is awesome. We need to celebrate!
  13. Hi everyone! I'm finally seeing the scale move again. I got the stomach flu a week ago and lost 7 lbs in 2 days. I've been able to maintain the loss and I'm now 10 lbs from scheduling surgery. I've also started a program at my gym, small group training with a personal trainer for 6 weeks. We had our first workout on Saturday and I can hardly move! (I love the feeling though, it reminds me that I really did good work). If everything goes as planned, I'll meet you guys on the post-op side in June! Did any of you have the single-incision surgery? Dr Alami said he might do that for me and take my gallbaldder at the same time.
  14. Way to go Amber, I see from your ticker you're more than half-way to goal! That's awesome!
  15. Yeah.... they aren't so friendly at Richmond. And they definately won't do aftercare if you didn't have surgery with them. I'm not a fan of Richmond either.

    Premier Protien Shake

I thought it was thicker than it used to be! They also have a vanilla flavor, I don't know if it's new or just new to me. I can't decide if I like it or not.
  17. Wow Amber, That's amazing! 40 lbs in 6-ish weeks is amazing! Good for you!
  18. I finally met with Dr Alami at SSF on Thursday. It went really well. I left feeling confident and hopeful again. It's nice to feel this way! I felt so good that I didn't mind that it took over an hour to get to the bay bridge! (But I'll stop taking 3 pm appointments if I can avoid them!) Dr Alami thinks we could probably have my gallbladder taken out at the same time as my sleeve (yay yay yay!) and possibly even do the single incision. He did suggest I wait until after my vacation in May, so it looks like I should be getting sleeved in June! He did say they'd stick with the original weight loss goal of 85 lbs that Dr Fisher had given me, but he was only joking. (That was my biggest fear!) So now I've only got to lose 30 lbs from my orientation weight. I'm on my way!
  19. I hate when this site has issues! I posted something a few days ago... and it's gone!

How long til cleared for travel?

I just talked to a fellow sleeveie about this yesterday who suggested if you're going on a cruise after surgery, wait at least 2-3 months after. The effects of motion-sickness on a newly sleeved tummy didn't even occur to me (I'm not prone to motion sickness and didn't have a problem on my last cruise over 10 years ago). I'm cruising the last week of May, so I'm hoping for a miracle and a surgery date in March, or I'll have mine done in June.

    Exercising with the WII

EA Active is the best. I haven't tried the new Active 2 yet, I'm getting that soon. Even without the wii fit board, the Active game is a real workout!

How long til cleared for travel?

I'm in the same boat (ship? lol) I'm going on a cruise at the end of May and figure I might get scheduled for surgery in April... perhaps I'll have to delay it until I return, I'd hate to have zero energy on a trip I've been planing for over a year.

  24. Hi Sherri! It's good to see you again. I was also on the lbt board, I still read a little over there but I know some people didn't like the lap band thread having a billion posts about the sleeve. I'm still pre-op but I have a surgeon consult on 2/3 with Dr Alami in SSF.
  25. Have you tried the Gas-X strips? I've heard they work wonders.
