My Fitness Pal Food Nutrition Tracker
I use MyFitness Pal too. I started using it about a month ago. I don't know if you have noticed how to changed the percentages but I adjusted mine to suit my body. Everyone is different. I require a lot more protein according to my surgeon and less carbs to lose. So I currently have it set at 40% carbs 50% protein and 10% fat. I have my calories set at 1400 but rarely do I get that many. Keep in mind too that when you log your exercise it will add available calories for that day. I hope you like it as much as I do. It has really helped me focus on what I am eating and how much I am exercising.:smile2:

Amazing Drop in Blood Pressure
I believe it does happen alot faster for some people. I had surgery 12/09/09 and I was officially off all of my insulin 6 weeks later. Still haven't had any issues. Congrats on your lower blood pressure, that is awesome!

Anyone never gotten stuck?
I was banded 12/09/09 and so far nothing stuck. I do get uncomfortable if I eat too fast though. I have 5.2cc in a 10cc band with really good restriction right now.

2nd fill yesterday
So I got my 2nd fill yesterday bringing me to 5.2cc in a 10cc band. My first fill was only 4 cc. WOW, what a difference a small amount can make. I went home to the normal 24 hours of liquids my doctor advises and had a glass of milk. I drank it just like I had been and soon discovered that isn't going to work anymore. I had to, I know gross, PB some of it. I had never had that happen with anything before. Never PB'd before at all. So lesson learned here, I must drink much slower and I am betting that when I am back to solid food, I won't be eating as fast either. Amazing the little lessons we learn along the way. I am currently sipping my coffee! lol

Everything is Down hill
At the time I thought the 6 months diet was crazy too but looking back I realize now that one of the reasons they do it is to see how serious you are about making a commitment to getting the band. It actually took me over 2 years, long story, but once I did the everything and had my surgery, I can tell you this side of the fence is the best place in the world. I WAS a severe diabetic 7 weeks ago. Now I am off one insulin and most likely coming off the other soon. I feel 10 years younger and in control. Believe me when I tell you that it will pass quicker than you think and you too will join me over here where life is good and healthy. I will keep you in my prayers!

How long did you stay off work?
I had surgery on Wednesday and was back at my desk full time on the following Monday. However, I was exhausted most everyday when I got home that week.

My wife is scheduled for surgery...concerned
First of all you are already doing the most important thing you could do and getting prepared and being supportive now. I personally could not have done this without my family. I personally told my family and my brother who I am extremely close to was very upset about me having it. Now I am 3 weeks out and doing so well, he finally sees that it wasn't a horrible thing and that I am happy and on my way to being healthy. If your wife doesn't want to tell anyone, that is her decision and you should support it. This is a personal decision and should only be shared with those you choose to share it with. It is inspiring to see a husband who is so supportive. Good luck to your wife!

Protein post surgery??
I found the 6 pack of 8 oz bottles of Isopure Alpine Punch and Grape at CVS. They run about $10. The punch is my favorite and has 15 g of protein per bottle.

December Bandsters 2009
Hello everyone! This board was so helpful to me so I thought I would drop in and offer some experience to those still pre-op. I am 7 days post-op and feel awesome! Surgery went great, recovery so far is wonderful. My biggest complaint has been the gas pain but like those before me walking, Gas X strips and a heating pad seem to do the trick. I am so excited for all of you to join me on the other side, so Merry Christmas and best wishes on your banding!!!!
