  1. Not normal at all to throw up. As a matter of fact it can lead to problems, such as a slip.

When going in for a fill does your dr have you drink to make sure you aren't too tight? If your doc does not do fills under scope, and barium swallow, maybe you want to take a Protein Shake with you so he can put some fill in, then you take a drink, if it goes down easy your good, if it backs up and won't go down, you will know it, and he can take a little out.

If you can not keep anything down, I would go in for a slight unfill.

  2. I have a pair of my oldest daughters 13/14's that she was going to get rid of, and I put them on today, one more inch and I will be able to wear them. We only see each other every couple of weeks, and she is now trying to lose also, because she is into 15's and not too happy. AND she was asked to be Maid of Honor at her best friends wedding in September.

  3. Like I said earlier in this thread, I still do 2 or 3 Protein Shakes a day, 2 of them are 4 oz and one is 16 oz. There are some great flavors out there, and if you get a little creative they are even better. My favorite at this time is Summer Melon mixed with sugar free Watermelon/Kiwi Koolaid. I purchase the Summer Melon at Bariatric Eating. That is my afternoon drink, it is a mixture of flavors of Watermelon, HoneyDew and Cantalope.

I also have 2 mocha latte's a day just a simple scoop of vanilla powder, or sometimes chocolate, a mazel coffee packet and 4 oz Water, sometimes I will add a shot of sugar free caramel Syrup.

I have an Atkins shake when I wake up in the morning, and then the others are if I get to want a snack during the day, I bypass the Snacks and grab the Protein, sometimes I will grab a cheese stick, or a babybell round but normally a drink.

  4. Oh I can chime in here, I hit Onederland TODAY!!! 199 officially and I am so psyched as this was my goal since Christmas.

I was banded on 6/9/09 and had a starting weight of 265, surgery weight of 248 and am now 199. I have gone from a 22/24 to a solid 14. I was a 16 at Christmas. Last weekend Mike and I went to Busch Gardens and this weekend I am supposed to go to Disney World. LOTS of walking. My shirts have gone from a 2x to a L and I am so happy. I have not been 199 since 1991, when my youngest daughter was born. And at the time I wore a 16. I haven't worn a 14 since the day I got married in 1987 to my ex. Somewhere I have the jeans I bought for my honeymoon, I will have to look for them, and see how they fit now. They were giving away t-shirts at the fair last week, and of course they were all size L, well I took one for Mike and he grabbed one for me, I didn't realize it until we got home. I told him I guess you have 2 now, he said why it will fit you. I was laughing and said yeah, nice thought. IT FIT. I was so happy. Last weekend while in Tampa and it was raining we went shopping, I did the new bra and underwear dance there. from a 44 to a 38, yes I am happy with the new bra size, and now my panties are an L instead of a 11. WHOO HOOO

  5. The nutritionist at my docs office said no bread, Pasta, rice or the like until I have lost 75% of the goal to lose. Well guess what, I am 25 lbs from that, and I don't really miss it. I have noticed they have the thin Bagels at the store now, only because i was shopping with my daughter for her dorm and she bought them, but I do not miss them.

When I make Spaghetti for Mike i have the sauce over Ricotta and Cottage cheese for myself. If we go to Olive Garden for dinner when visiting my daughter at college, I just order a side of meatball or Soup, and have a salad, instead of pasta.

When I was a couple months post op, I did have a week or so where i was eating grilled cheese, until I had my 3rd fill, and I ended up so ill, i thought I was going to die. This was my first stuck episode, and I do not want to relive that ever again. I swore off bread that day, and have not touched it since.

  6. When we go out to eat, I now order a to go box when I order my meal. Depending on where we go, I may order a kids meal. Beef O'Brady's where we really frequent, I order the kids grilled chicken wrap, just chicken and cheese, and hold the wrap. sometimes I order the chicken ceasar wrap, hold the wrap. I get cottage cheese as the side, and I am done. If it is a day that I am hungry, and in the mood, I order the chicken nachos I specify only 6 chips. And I ask them to put everything seperate, not on top of the chips. I eat the chicken first, dipping it in the queso and shredded cheese. If I am still hungry when I am done with the chicken I have the lettuce and Tomato with the queso as the dressing. That is when I eat the chips, if I eat them.

I do not miss food so much, as I still eat, I just eat sensibly now. I know that french fries are a thing of the past. As soon as I eat one my meal is immediately over. I loved smothered cheese fries with bacon and ranch, no more. give me the cheese and bacon on my salad.

I am always the last one finished eating now, but I don't get stuck either.

  7. From GNC I get their brand in banana Creme and Cookies and Cream. From Bariatriceating.com I get the summer melon, the Peanut Butter cookie and the chocolate peanut butter fudge. I also get regular old Chocolate and Vanilla from Walmart. I also drink an Atkins Mocha Latte every morning when I first wake up, I actually put it on my nightstand the night before, so I wake up, shake up and start drinking.

Then once I am moving around I make a mocha latte using 1 scoop of Vanilla Protein and a sleeve of Mazel, with 4 oz of Water. Later during the day I have a scoop of summer melon mixed with 4 oz of sugar free Watermelon/cherry or Watermelon/Kiwi Koolaid. At night before bed I have a protein smoothie made with 1/2 cup Greek Yogurt, a scoop of a flavor usually banana, 1/3 cup of frozen banana/strawberry slices and 1 cup almond milk.

During the day I also have protein in my 2 meals I actually eat.

  8. My daughter works at an athletic shoe store, and said to me that there are a couple of her customers that have purchased them and LOVE them. One lady bought one pair, came back a couple of weeks later and bought a couple more pair, and over the last 3 months has bought 10 pair, all different colors and styles.

Since she gets a discount at the store, she is buying a pair for me on Friday, so we will see how I like them. I have heal spurs so I hope they help me.

  9. If you take smaller bites, like I did mention, it wont hurt you to eat. It is completely normal to have a period of adjustment after each fill and you will notice the bites have to be smaller. Like I said, I like my band tighter. The reason being, I don't want to feel hunger. This is what the band is for! I am not some stupid person who is gonna wear my band so tight that it erodes. Besides, my doctor checks my band under fluoro every time I go in to make sure there is no slippage or erosion. Duh!

I was speaking to the ORIGINAL poster, not you on this. Not need to be so sarcastic, and I don't remember anyone saying you were a stupid person either.

  10. Something you said got me, and I didn't see anyone else address it....

Nickle size bites is too big. Heck dime size is too big. Cut your chicken or whatever in eraser size "TINY" so that it will not get stuck. My daughter tells me all the time it takes me longer to cut my food than it does to eat it, BUT, I do not get stuck anymore. Heck I even cut kidney Beans in half. I eat chili almost daily, and the meat is grown up so much that there is no way it can get stuck.

I was too full after my 3rd fill, and had to have a small bit removed, lost 6 lbs in 10 days, but was miserable every step of the way. Being too full could cause problems with your band so please take it easy.

  13. Since my last fill in October, I can not eat toast of any type any longer, and Peanut Butter has to be small amounts at a time, make sure it is down, then take another small bite. I can do crackers but not even grilled cheese. For some reason though, cracker barrels biscuits go down fine, in small bites. I limit myself to 1/2 a biscuit at a meal, which is not that often anyway, except now that we have been traveling for a week I have had it twice, and will have it at least once more before we get home.

What helps me when stuck is hot tea, and if it is really stuck, i will stand up and bend over, whatever it is comes up pretty quick, and then life is good again. Only had that happen a few times since October, but it is my own fault.

  14. With my NSV yesterday, I get to hopefully have another soon. My sil gave me some clothes today that she doesn't think she will ever be able to wear. Most are from Chico I think the store was, and they were sized different. 1.5, 2, 2.5, not sure how they translate, but right now they are still too small. I will take them home from me when we go next weekend, and hopefully by my next goal which is a 14 by Valentines day, they will fit.

Tomorrow should be real interesting day for me, I have not seen my best friend from high school since 2003, now that we are in TN and only 1 1/2 hours away from her, my 18yo and I are going tomorrow to stay with her for the night. Last picture I have of us together is from 2003 and wow was I big, but we were the same size. I know she is the same size as back then, and having health issues. She works for a dr office, and I am praying that she takes the step, if she is ready, to get the band and let it work for her also.

  15. On Thanksgiving our family drew names for which adult was going to buy a gift for which adult. We had to make a list of 3 things we would like.

At that time I was fitting into my 18Ws only with my Spanx, and was praying to be able to wear a 16W by Valentines, so I did put a pair of 16W jeans and size L tops on my list.

Today I opened my gift, and there they were, 16W jeans and 2 size L tank tops. I waited until we got back to the house to try them on, just so I could see how much more I am going to have to lose to wear them. OMG... I put them on, zipped them up, and have a little bit of room. And that was without the spanx. I am so excited. I have not been a 16W in 18 years, since my youngest daughter was born.

I can't wait to get to TN in the morning, we are driving up now, and my sil can see that they do fit me. She is thinking about having the band and she hasn't seen me since August.

I started this venture with surgery in June wearing a 22/24, now i am a comfortable 16. And to top it all off, I am 6 lbs from my New Years Goal, so we will see what happens. YAHOO!!! 199 here I come.

  16. I am going to be signing up with Fill Centers in January, doing the annual plan in the St. Petersburg office, as that is the only one in FL that does the fill with Flouroscope automatically.

I found out today that my health insurance has been cancelled due to my job change, and COBRA is way too expensive.

The annual plan is $1400, to go to my surgeon one fill is $900, under flouro.

Yes, St Petersburg is a 3 hour drive for me, but that is ok, we will get an annual pass for Busch Gardens and have fun while up there.
