Almost there..........
Malaika replied to GreenBayGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't know anything about the other surgeons you mentioned - have you checked out WASa's sticky on how to reserach surgeons? Not sure if it will help; however Dr. Acves is reducing his rates for July to $8950. Good luck on your search. I hope you find what you need and are able to get the surgery and not wait another year. -
How long for superannuation release

Well you will be the first and a trendsetter for other Aussies ...and you'll know all the ins and outs and all the answers to questions others may have! SOMEONE has to be the first! -
Let's discuss "the foamies" and "sliming"
Malaika replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you eat too much of anything, and you are still swollen or you eat too much, you're going to have a problem with the extra saliva. Any food can cause the problem. You just need to eat small bites and chew really well (if you're on solids) and learn to listen to your body when it tells you you are full. I am 3 weeks post-op and still have a difficult time with the "stuck" feeling, although each day is better. -
Headache & Migrain post op
Malaika replied to dange25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks post-op and can still only take small sips; however, I take them all day long and have been able to stay hydrated and have not had any headaches (to which I am very susceptible). I think if you are able to drink all day long, you will be fine. I had trouble sleeping the first week after the surgery; however, thank God, that went away and now I sleep really sound. -
AND ... see ... YOU did make it through the liquid stage ... I know you weren't sure you were going too - I felt the same way - but YOU did it!

Band removal and sleeve done at same time?
Malaika replied to june2010's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know it is possible, as there are several members on this forum that have had it done. I am sure it depends on many factors. However, yes, it is possible. -
I'm in San Diego...Surgery tomorrow!
Malaika replied to kauser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How exciting for you -- you are in great hands and you will come through with flying colors. I will say a prayer for you. Keep us posted as soon as you can as to how things went .. and ask any and all questions you may have! -
That is absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Congratulations and keep up the good work. You give all of us hope!:thumbup:

Welcome to VST and congratulations on making your decision to have the sleeve and what a plus that your insurance will pay for it. There is lots of information on this forum and if you have a question and don't see a thread about it already, post away -- you'll receive lots of information. Happy 4th of July!

Thanks, great idea Norma -- I will definitely check it out.

Oh Rosey -- you're so mean... but I love it! Might make him feel like 6 weeks isn't all that long eh?

And I am so HAPPY he's quit smoking ... now he doesn't have to shower just to kiss me and I can't smell him from across the room. :biggrin0:

It's not too bad if you're being picked up in Calexico -- the hospital is very near the border so you're really not in the van very long -- and the trip from the hospital to the resort is only 2 miles. Now, can't speak of the trip from San Diego, as we were picked up at the AA Parking lot in Caleixco. Parking was only $3/day and it is gated with a guard 24/7 which was a comfort.

That is absolutely fantastic. Congrats! That has to feel so good -- I can't wait until I can Celebrate that goal too. I'll be dancing in the aisles :sad0: I am so looking forward to not having to shop in the plus section or the Wide section as my friends says -- she won't believe me that W stands for women's ... she swears it stands for wide ... Either way - I don't want to shop in that department anymore.

WELCOME to VST .... Glad to hear you've made the decision for the sleeve ... one step out of the way ... now the next step ... the surgeon ... I am sure you will make the best decision for you and your wants and needs and I agree with you that decision should never be made due to $$$. -
Glad I've been helpful to you -- any questions, just ask away. And yes, I only use Puffs Plus, but any tissues -- they don't have them at the hospital and I found the toilet tissue to be too rough on my nose. I also took babywipes to wipe after urinating as I tend to have a reaction to tissues that have any perfumes in them -- I don't think the one used at the hospital did; however, I am always careful. Good luck on getting your surgery date - you'll be thrilled with your choice of Dr. Aceves.
-
Oh you are correct -- WASa said that if you had paperwork to show you had applied that that would be sufficient. Good for you.
-
Did you start the process for your passport or passport card? You'll need it to get out of Mexicali after your surgery.
-
Thanks Mac -- interesting article.
-
That's absolutely FANTASTIC Tiff --- have a great visit with your brother and best friend and I am sure you will smother Caysen with your kisses. I'm so happy for you! HUGS, Susan

So have some saltines and see if it cures your craving - can't be that many carbs in a few crackers.
-
Well wasn't that a pleasant surprise ... I don't know if even the smell of eggs and bacon would have been enough to get either of my boys out of bed!
-
I'm still waiting for my delivery of my Nectar samples ... hope they get here soon... we have a BBQ tomorrow and i want to be able to drink something with protein while everyone else is eating all the yummy food.

I don't think so, but anything is possible. I'm just so happy it only lasted about a week and that I only had to take liquid benadryl 2 nights to help dry up the excessive mucus. I sleep like the dead now and I'm so glad for it.
