Welcome Fencepost and thank you for sharing your journey to WLS ... It reminds us that God never leaves us although we may wander from Him He is always there waiting for us to return. I'm glad it all worked out for you and will look forward to hearing about your success.

Well, we belong to a nudist group and no one cares anything about any of that stuff -- I was self-conscious at first, but not anymore -- great group of people and they don't judge - at least not another's body...we're going to a posse party today as a matter of fact ... something about swimming nude that is so freeing ... just have to be sure to use sunscreen! LOL.. What tats do you have Norma? I have only 1 and Bearded has 5 now.

Headaches the first week ?
Malaika replied to kaykay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If sinus related, try liquid benadryl (it's allowed following surgery) and liquid tylenol (which didn't help my headaches, but they were more TMJ/muscular related it turns out). The leiquid benadryl definitely dried up all the excess mucus I was producing following surgery and helped me sleep through the night. Good luck to you - headaches suck. -
Dr. Aceves doesn't use any catheters thank goodness.

Yes, I was talking about a different point in time when I had the EGD; not the sleeve surgery.
-
Well, in that case, I strongly suggest you avoid drinking anything acidic for about 1 week ... unless of course you want to know all of the locations from which they took the biopsies and don't mind a burn for a while afterwards.

Operation VSG was a success!
Malaika replied to jilljesalyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fluids in, fluids out .. it will subside and if it's too bad, take some Immodium. -
What's your name on FB? I will "make friends" with you...however, the agreement with those on VSG and friends on FB is that we don't ever mention our surgeries -- I have too many family members on there and they have no idea I've had the surgery and I'd like to keep it that way if you know what I mean.

Wow - so sorry you are having to go through this (and your husband too) ... I hope you are able to get back on them once you get home from the hospital.
-
Thanks! I'll check it out and see if I can figure it out!

I had one years ago and I was put under for it -- the only after effect I had was the next morning when I drank orange juice and I could feel every spot from which they took biopsies - since you won't be having that done, you probably won't have any problems at all.

Headaches the first week ?
Malaika replied to kaykay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a horrible severe headache the day after surgery that lasted until Tuesday when I got home and was able to get in to see my chiropractor. I suffer from TMJ and he was able to realign my jaw. My neck was also out. Once he got me all realigned, the headache went away. Tylenol did absolutely nothing to help the headache pain btw. -
Well, you might have to have shortened school days and the school year may have to be extended with not so many vacation days once you get up to feeling 100% on your energy level ... you're the boss, you get to call the shots!

How painful did you find VSG to be?
Malaika replied to kaykay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear he's home and doing better and hope his pain level has decreased significantly as well. -
Between here and Facebook, I don't have time for anything else.

It's probably from that chocolate that you ate:ohmy: Just kidding ... I haven't experienced any itching palms, so I am not of any help with this one ... I'd suggest trying another shower gel and see if it goes away ... I would think if it was your shower gel, however, other areas of your body would be itching as well. I'd take some benadryl or an antihistamine of some sort and see if that helps. Several years ago I went through a period where only my ankles and tops of my feet itched and I had to constantly use benadryl spray to keep from scratching them raw. It eventually went away and I chalked it up to stress.

Reflections from a Fat Chick
Malaika replied to roseyandmusic's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It wasn't that bad - chalky, but not bad - I had to drink several ounces and what they told me was that where I am having my pain and "stuck" feeling is that when I drink it spasms ... I could see it all on the fluroscope and yes, I will do it again in 3 months -- it wasn't that bad that I wouldn't do it again and I want to see if the spasms have gotten better. We're going on a cruise 9/6 through 9/13, other than that, we're pretty flexible so if the 19th works for you and the others, let us know.
