Hello, and questions about Foam and Acid!
Malaika replied to PhotoSteve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's GREAT hopefully it will eliminate your acid reflux issues - having had surgery and then having to have that on top of it is horrible. Here's to feeling better soon! -
What do you want to do that you couldn't do before the sleeve?
Malaika replied to *susan*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Welcome Lachelle and thanks for the words of encouragement -- you definitely have to have a positive attitude - good out - good in is what I always say. I can't wait to lose all my weight and achieve new goals and buy a size 10 ... heck I'd be happy with a 12~ Thanks for sharing and keep on posting - we look forward to your words of wisdom and suggestions! -
Hi Linda - Glad you are home too. Sorry you're in so much pain. I was sore where the drain bag was; however it was more like sore muscles from working out - certainly not anything that I needed to take pain medication for. Hope you get ot feeling better soon. Try sucking on ice cubes when you're tired of drinking - and SF popsicles - it's a good way to get your fluids in. Dr. Aceves said 2 oz. every 15 minutes for the first 3 days only, after that, sip, sip, sip all day long. I found the popsicles and the ice cubes really help to get in more liquid.

No I am sure it is not; however, most of us arent running a triathalon and don't need to know all of things that Mac wants to know -- I would be happy to know weight, water weight and body fat and that is what the scale Ruthi go at JC's does for you. It's also $50-$100 vs. $300 so of course it's not going to be anywhere near the quality of the one Mac wants.

It's when you eat too much (or sometimes too fast) and your body produces more saliva to help digest the food - there isn't room for the food and the extra saliva so it backs up into your mouth and you slime or foam ... it's quite unpleasant. -
I'm in the same boat as you Jenn -- my clothes are looser and fit differently; however with the exception of my capri jeans, they aren't too big yet, just loose.

You hit the nail on the head Mac (and Ruthi too) -
Everyone's body is different and takes time to adjust to the surgery you've been through -- give it time and once your body adjusts your weight loss will probably pickup.

I wouldn't say that I'm depressed -- I think Mac put it best -- I'm PISSY ... and as KayKay said experiencing "remorse" because of the issues I have with the spasming of my esophogus ... and I don't want it to take 6 months like Dr. Aceves said it might ... so maybe depressed was not the proper word. I have been in depression before and don't EVER EVER want to go there again-- thanks for the concern SoCal, I greatly appreciate it And KayKay thank you for the prayers -- I will take all that you wish to offer for I know prayer definitely works! Thank you.

Just do the best you can - there's no way I got in all my liquids and proteins the first 2-3 weeks following surgery -- just be sure you always have a bottle of water or liquid with you and sip, sip, sip whenever and as often as you can. I also suck on alot of ice cubes, especially at work. The nervousness/excitement/doubt/fear, etc. is normal and everyone goes through it. You'll both be fine!

EAS vanilla and chocolate are very good, too, (at least before my surgery -now there' too sweet for me) and they aren't costly either - you can get them at Target, Wal-Mart and at Sam's Club. Bearded also really likes Pure Protein's Cookies & Cream Protein drinks (got them at Target). Don't buy too much because what you like before surgery you may not be able to tolerate after surgery - your tastes may change - mine definitely did.

Caffeine Withdrawal
Malaika replied to attitudefree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you're doing it the right way - weaning yourself off instead of stopping cold turkey. Just continue to decrease the caffeine. Mt. Dew is horrible for caffeine - way worse than coffee. Good for you on quitting smoking too -- I'm sure that was difficult. Think how healty you're going to be though! -
Starting My VSG Journey. Surgery Aug. 11
Malaika replied to Jenn Shelton's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drugs - and lots of them -- NO NO NO - ONLY KIDDING!!!! What you are experiencing is very normal as far as the jitters and everyone has gone through the same thing. Keep in mind that people can live without their stomach if necessary - and do - i.e., cancer. You are not losing your entire stomach, only a portion of it - so it's not really altering your anatomy that much - just making it smaller. What if you had to have a kidney removed? You'd still be able to live a normal life -- same as with the sleeve. Jitters are normal. -
Haven't lost any more weight since the initial 1 week post-op
Malaika replied to susimar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine stalled for about 2 weeks and now it's moving again -- nothing has changed as far as my food or exercise regime, so not sure what's going on, but not complaining that the scale is moving (downward) again. -
how do you keep your vitamins down?
Malaika replied to ash's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was thinking the exact same thing - on both counts - so I second your thoughts to both Brandi and Ash. -
Guess I'll be making a trip to the deli :001_smile: Strange that I am craving red meat, as I am not a big red meat person - I do love my filet mignon; however that is about the extent of my red meat eating ... roast beef just sounds really good for some reason.

Malaika replied to Bornagainbabe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think they do if it involves the word SEX :lol0: Of course, Bearded hasn't heard that word recently as we're both too damn tired to exert that much energy ... how sad is that?:001_smile: (sorry if that's TMI) -
Hopefully we'll hear something from someone today - I don't think she was the only one going to be down there for surgery - so hopefully someone else who is down there and on the site will let us know something soon. Wondering about BobBay too - his surgery was Monday --
