  1. So my band has been too tight for awhile now apparently... I of course thought it was something I was doing wrong not the band... My doc did a chest xray and my band is not aligned properly. I have what he called "a little slip". He's going in to fix it today, fingers crossed that I wake up from surgery still with a band. I feel so guilty, like i've abused my child. :frown: I should have known, I should have listened, I should have gone in right away instead of being hardheaded and trying to "handle" it on my own. Please please please learn from my mistake, don't assume anything and pester your doctor if needed. It's what they are there for. :smile2:

4 days from my surgiversary & my band slipped

So I'm home now. It wasn't nearly as painful as the first surgery. My doctor ended up backing off a little from the whole "it's your fault for leaving it too tight for a month" theory. He told my family that yes being so tight probably contributed but that me losing so much so fast probably helped it slip as well. So i don't feel quite as guilty as I did. We will definitely be staying on the loose side from now on...
  3. Well I have been having some issues this past week... I ate a few grapes and my stomach turned.. I got sick but didn't throw up.. my rt side started hurting.. then 2 days later I ate about 3 doritos ( I know! Shameful! lol) and about an hour later my side was KILLING me! then the next day I had some tomato based cabbage Soup same thing... that night i got some burning in my throat, some coughing... Then the next morning I had my Protein shake and instant rt side pain, nausea and after about 2 hours of this accompanied by shaking, difficulty breathing and panicking, I lost said Protein Shake. the nausea got better but my side continued to hurt for the rest of the day... Needless to say I called my surgeon, they said it sounded like classic gallbladder symptoms.. (I have lost 85lbs in 6 months) and ordered a gallbladder ultrasound and HIDA scan. Both of which came back normal... Well now I'm having more issues with burning in my throat and side pain... My surgeon said if it were my band I would be hurting in the center of my chest and stomach not on my rt side.. Of course I keep worrying about a slip or being too tight but that doesn't explain my side pain.. Has anyone else experienced this? Gallbladder symptoms with normal test results.... ? Sorry so long but I'm wigging out just a bit... oh and I have had dizziness and lightheaded spells off and on since this started.. blah!

    Whoo hoo!!

Yay! Today is my 8 week surgi-versary. I got my first fill on 5/14/09, since then I've lost 7 more lbs. With the 12lbs lost during the 2 week pre-op diet, I have lost 29 lbs since my surgery on 4/3/09 for a total of 41 lbs lost!! I don't know if this is typical, above average, below average... I'm just excited, My clothes are starting to get big... I shall have to go buy new bras soon. All in all... a great day I think! Good luck to everyone out there have a lovely banded day!

    First Fill

I had my first fill too! Thursday 5/14/09... it was interesting... I could actually feel the band getting tighter. It was very similar to the feeling I had the first few days after surgery.. I can totally tell a difference now... I stay full longer... I was really just hanging in there by sheer willpower for the last week and a half.
  8. Ok this is my first post... I've been lurking awhile though... I'm 1 week and 4 days post op, on pureed stage... I am having the hardest time making my food last an hour... It's is so hard to slow down, I've always been a gobbler but so far the only thing that has helped is to get up, do something else, come back eat a bite, do something else, eat a bite... etc... does anyone have any other suggestions?

How do I strech 3-4 oz of food to an hour?

ooooookay... ya'll are awesome...I went back and reread my manual "again" for the hundredth time... its 3-4 ozs per hour not over an hour... ok so I'm not messing my band up... geez I was really worried... the best I could do was 45 mins and that was hard! ok no more bonehead moments...
