  2. Happy 51st Birthday BettyBoo9137!

  3. 5 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 5th Anniversary BettyBoo9137!

  4. Betsyjane, did your doctor tell you to have a liquid diet? Mushies, or what? I am curious becuase I was banded 2 days after you and I am on liquids and Jello, etc....and I am feeling full. When my band was placed it wasnt filled, I'm just swollen. But, I do feel like I want to stuff a medium well steak and smothered baked potato in my blender!

    November Bandsters!

I want to be added to the November bandsters too! I was banded on November 15th in Las Vegas by Dr. Atkinson. Woo-Who!!!! I didnt have to stay on liquids before surgery but after. 14 to 21 glorious days of nothing larger than a straw! So far so good! Loosing weight. Can someone tell me how to get a ticker on my profile? Thanks, Boo
  6. I am not sure if this will inspire you or help you but I do want you to hear something. I was banded on November 15, 2006, 3 days before my 45th birthday. My parents are deceased and I am an only child. I am a single mother with two kids. I have a very supportive friend who puts up with me, but you have to do this for yourself. Sometimes I feel so alone, yet I know I made the right decision to get healthy for the first time in my life. I have dieted and failed, just like everyone else, but I know deep in my heart that this is the only thing that can save my life right now. Support on the back end is important but you have to make this decision for you. There are many places to get support and talk through issues. One of the best it rite at your fingertips here are Lap Band Talk. You can attend a local support group in your area. Where I live the surgery center will let you attend their support group even if your surgery was in Mexico. Each center is different you just need to check. Try and not let your family make you feel guilty for doing someting to improve and save your life! This will save your life! Its not a miracle cure, you will have to change your eating habits, but try not to fell guilty for doing the right thing! I suggest leaving reading material around where your family can see it. Let them see the success stories. Let them know how many people are getting healthy with this wonderfull tool. Maybe after they do some checking they will change their minds! Take Care:) Boo

    Post-Op instructions

Betsyjane, I like your analogy, Well said! I am getting banded in November, I'm so excited. What I dont get is why so many doctors recommend so many different things? I have been looking at posts all around and it seems the diets pre op are different and post op, kinda sort of consistant. It just seems funny to me. Dont you agree?

Any Las Vegas people out there?

Finally got approved for my Lap Band! Getting banded November 15! There is an insurance god out there!
  9. Hang in there! It wont be long before your first fill and then you will have the restriction. It is difficult to try and eat nutritionally and stay away form the way we are used to eating, do you best and the rest will follow.

    Pre-op diet

I am scheduled to be banded on November 15, 2006. My doctor said no liquid diet pre-op, but post op 15 to 20 days liquids, soups then I can try to eat mushed up foods. High protein, then veggies, then fruit. I think every doctor is different. Good Luck to you!

    Insurance

Hello everyone! I have a questions about authorization for insurance. I have been approved for the evaluation from the surgery center, has anyone been denied the surgery after getting this far in the process?

Hey Koala! Welcome to the site. I guess the Nevada Thread isnt as active as the rest, but we can change that! I am not banded, I am still in the insurance approval stage. Hoping and praying that I will be approved. Without it, I cant have the surgery. Mother of two, single....My friend Hootiebelle had the surgery in early June. She was banded by Dr. Ortiz and she loved the facility, it wasnt a dive place, it was nice, clean and she is doing great! I think shes lost about 25 lbs now..She even liked Dr. Ortiz! If I get a windfall, the first thing I am doing is having the surgery in Mexico. Are you all set up for fills? I know someone who knows someone who is going to be offering fills. Shes a licensed practicioner (spelled wrong I know). Anyway, welcome to the site.....Betty Boo!

I appreciate the information. There is allot of talk about people who go to Mexico and I am weighing the advantages to having it done here vs Mexico. My greatest fear is if something goes wrong in Mexico and my insurance wont cover it here. Dr. Fisher is the prefered provider for my current insurance carrier. I just cant get approved fast enough.

Hey Sue....Good for you! How was Dr. Fishers office? On the fills how often have you had them and how many? Did you go to any of their aftercare stuff like the support meetings? I'm curious about their program.
