Mmmm, "Ice Cream"
In fear I might strangle my husband for eating ice cream in front of me EACH night, I came up with this and I wanted to share. I take 1/3 cup of Non Fat Dry Milk (8g of Protein) 2 to 3 ounces of Boost Chocolate High Protein Mix it together and freeze in little plastic Ziploc bowls The dry milk adds more protein and makes it creamy, and the best part is, I feel like I am eating ice cream too!! Yum-O!! Anyone else have any fun "treats" they would like to share?

why such secrecy?
Only my husband knows. Jukebox, I would consider you very lucky to have a supportive family/friends. Not all of us are that fortunate.

Day Two Post Op - Help?
I didn't experience those symptoms, so I would call your doctor's office and see what s/he says.

Should I keep this a secret?
I agree with the others. Just do what you feel is right for you. The only person that I told was my husband-that works for me, but might not be the right things for someone else to do

My doctor took mine off 3 days after surgery because I was having an allergic reaction to either the tape or the glue. I broke out in a million little blisters..it itched...it leaked...it was nasty!

Incision questions
Just curious... how many incisions do you have? I have 6 and that seems like a lot. Also, I was banded on 3/27 and it seems like my incisions are healing rather bumpy. Does that mean that I am making a lot of scar tissue or is it normal and they will eventually flatten out?

Itching question, and mushy food...
Ditto to what Realizein CT said. I too was allergic to the glue and strips that they put on me. I ended up getting a bunch of little blisters all around the incision area. My incisions have all healed nicely, but the area that had the blisters still looks a little funky. I was banded on 3/27. I'd check with your doctor because he can tell you for sure. Good luck!

lifting restriction after surgery
I was told the same thing as you Rabbitt. However, I have twin 2 year olds that are potty training, so I have been lifting them from the moment I got home from the hospital. I am not saying it is good advice, but it just wasn't possible to *not* lift them.

news i didn't pay much attention to until my doctor told me today

IS anybody itchy?
I was banded on 3/27 and JUST now the itchiness has started to subside around my incisions. Another problem I had, was apparently I am allergic to the surgical tape/glue that they used to put me back together with. Therefore, I broke out with tiny itchy blisters everywhere there was tape. Basically, I've been one itchy disaster!

How do I strech 3-4 oz of food to an hour?
I use child-sized silverware when I eat (you know like what you would use to feed a toddler who is just learning to eat). I also do the take-a-bite-and-come-back thing too. That seems to help. I dish up a small portion of one kind of food at the counter and leave the extra food on the counter or put it away in the fridge so I have to make myself get up to get more food. Hope that helps!! I was told to make meals last 30 minutes.

words that have stuck with me...
That is good advice! Thanks for sharing your story

First couple of bites
Billoh that is great about the blood pressure meds and that your sleep apnea will be gone! Way to go! I had a hard time remembering small bites and small amounts of Water too. I was banded on 3/27. I really made an effort to only pour a small amount of water in my glass to start with, or put a small portion on my plate. That helped me at first. Also, I made an effort to take a bite, then get up from the table, walk away, and do something else. Those 2 things have really slowed me down. However, I am newly banded, so maybe others can suggest more. keep up the good work!!

Pre-Op Diet
I had my surgery on 3/27 and my doctor had me on liquids only the day before also. I have not had any problems thus far. I would guess that every doctor does it differently. Best of luck to you with your surgery!!

How long were you out of work for Post op?
I am a stay at home mom, so I had no time off. I came home form the hospital and took care of my twin 2 year old daughters, and haven't stopped since.

can anyone tolerate chicken?
I too cook it in the crock pot and I am able to eat it without a problem.
