  1. Hi patton Check out this video: YouTube - dasajam's Channel She talks about these fears and what she got to help her with after surgery care for higher BMI individuals. In later videos she said it worked perfect. Her whole series is a must watch.
  2. I love these posts. They keep me up when I feel like I am not losing fast enough or just generally being a screw up. Thanks so much for sharing.
  3. Just as a quick note so no one feels left out if they can't eat tuna, neither can I. Tuna and I don't mix right now. We used to be friends before surgery but I have been informed by my stomach we will not be eating tuna fish any longer. I will try again in 3 months or so. I can eat other fish like salmon and mahi though so don't give up on all fish if one does not agree with you. Oh I ate some baby food but I just pureed everything in my bullet. That was easier and I knew what was in it.
  4. As for coffee. I used to drink decaff. I kicked the caffine habit and did not want it back. I have given it up now. The acid is too much for my stomach. That is just me. As for eating: I drink breakfast because I am still not meeting Protein goals. So drinking it helps. When I eat I am full for 4-6 hours. This does not help with meeting protein goals. I have never had a bad stuck issue. Only when I eat too fast. Never had the band so I don't know if it is the same or not. I do now it does not vary one day to the next. Bread will not work today just like it did not work yesterday.
  5. I have one on my left butt cheek kind of high, like right next to the top of the crack (sorry don't know how else to describe it. I got it when I was about the weight I am now. It stretched and didn't look bad as I gained. It looks like the day I got it now. I wonder too what it will look like when I get to my goal weight.
  6. That is great Jeff. You know the pissy moods are a part of giving up an addiction. It will get better I promise. Don't take it out on poor mom!
  7. Yeah its called "I want to look good for the holidays!"
  8. I am glad you are ok. That could have been worse had it flipped up through the windshield. I am glad it didn't and you were not in a short car. I love wild animals but not dodging them. I rolled a 4-Runner I owned on it's side years ago dodging a moose. I sort of rolled over into a snow puff so it didn't damage my car at all, just my nerves.
  9. I don't think I am more social but I like not feeling like I am the fattest person in the room or that everyone is staring at me. I never thought this surgery would effect me in so many ways and never dreamed it would change the dynamics in my marriage. It has though. We are kind of going through a sudden rough patch. The reasons are many but it all relates in someway back to surgery. It is one of the reasons i have not been around much. Anway I am not going to air it on the board but it does have far reaching impacts even a careful planner didn't see coming. It is all good though. I love the new me. I wouldn't trade her for anything.
  10. Tiffy you were a knockout before surgery. John is going to be continuing to beat them off with a stick. In fact he might need to buy a bigger one.
  11. I don't have an iphone either but I do have an iTouch. I use a program called Lose It. Simple, quick, will track Protein easily. I love it.
  12. I was thinking about Netty on Sunday. Wondering how she was. I think it is hard for people with complications to come sometimes because everyone else is doing good. They feel alone. :drool5:
  13. I am jealous Susan. I can't eat bread in any form and banana's........lets just they are known to clog up the works so I steer way clear. 10/19 Breakfast: Homemade shake made with Protein powder and 6oz non fat milk. Took me two hours to drink it but 30 grams protein. Lunch: Refried Beans mixed with blackbeans, with some melted cheese and a dollop of sour cream. 4 or 5 oz I ate it over an hour. Beans and I are becoming fast friends. Dinner: Fighting with husband for 4th day in a row so I was upset. I just drank a protein shot for 23 grams protein and went to bed.
  14. HA Vegas. I thought I was being sly! Yes my dog chewed the toy. It was a cute mini build a bear dog cheerleader. She had a cheer outfit you could put on. She was left on the coffee table and attracted interest from my dog sometime during the night. Her ear was torn off, her tail was torn off, and half her cheer out fit was gone, the other half had little teeth holes. That is ok. My dog didn't know she had a vet appointment today to get caught up on shots. I made sure she attended :001_tt2:.
  15. Your not dumb at all. Check this out: http://verticalsleevetalk.com/vertical-sleeve-talk-forum-assistance-suggestions/267-vst-tickerfactory-ticker-tutorial-pictures.html Can't wait to see your ticker.
  16. I drank a small amount of a flat diet coke the other day. Ugh. My stomach was not happy about all that acid and it tasted terrible.
  17. Yeah and don't they leave some of small intestine just kind of hanging out there? I seem to remember that bacteria could leak into the abdomen and cause problems because of this.
  18. People are noticing now. I don't just mean people I know. The people I know could not believe how I looked after two weeks of not seeing me. I lost a lot in the first two weeks. I say people I don't know notice now because guys look. I had some dude walk past me as I was coming out of Starbucks and he was like "Hey baby you looking good, what is your name?" I turned around because I wanted to see the hottie he must be talking to and it was me! :tongue2: I didn't know what to say so I just turned around and walked to my car. My husband I had a good laugh about it.
  19. Isn't it wonderful when that scale moves again. Ugh!!
  20. 10/16 Breakfast: 18 grams Protein....... Lunch: 4 oz lowfat cottage cheese and snack pack unsweetened applesauce. It took me an hour eat them both kind of using the applesauce as a topping. If I eat applesauce straight my tummy is not so sure about it. Dinner: Patty from a McDonald's cheeseburger (with cheese on it) and 4 french fries. I got the happy meal so I could get the toy. I gave the fries to my step-son. I gave my dogs the bun. I played with the mini build a bear toy and then my dog chewed it up last night. Oh well.
  21. WOW Angela. You are a trooper for waiting 4 years for surgery. My hat is off to you. I almost had a fit waiting 4.5 months. Welcome. Be sure to put your surgery on the calendar and let us know how you are doing leading up.
  22. Yep my surgery was right in middle of my period. They gave me the stretchy panty and a giant pad to wear to the O.R. Like magic the panties were gone after the surgery and I had the same pad under me like Tiffy did. After surgery in my room I got into a bad position and had a little trouble breathing. It was no big deal it was just my position was causing me to try and breath deep because I was not moving enough air. Breathing deep hurt a little first couple hours. So when I would breath deep my diaphram would react to the pain and jump up kinda causing a rush of air out of my lungs that panicked my lungs and me. Anyway a change in position with the help of some nice burly CNA guys got me fixed right up. My point that story? That pad got moved and I didn't realize it so I made a mess in the bed but the CNA's had no problem changing the sheets and getting a new pad. I was not embarrased. Probably the pain meds made me not care. So just make sure the pad stays in place if you move around. Don't worry about it at all. It is not the first period the O.R. or hospital team as seen I promise!
  23. How is everyone doing? 10/15 Breakfast: We won't talk about it 200 cals and 18 grams Protein. Lunch: 3 oz pinto Beans mashed and 2 tbls mixed cheese Dinner: Uhhh......Chit. I forgot to eat! I didn't realize that until now. I had a piece of peperoni off my husband pizza and meant to make something for myself and just forgot. I drank a lot of Water though. Ooops.
  24. Thanks Tiffy! They did tell me to apply heat and massage but not as detailed as that. Now I know. Yep Orchid. It is a scar that may turn into an adhesion later. That is why when I use my abs it feels like slight tearing and hurts. You can feel like little pebbles under the scar. This was the clue to them it was a heavy scar forming. My single site operation increased the tissue trauma in that area. Meh. I can deal with it. I was just worried because it should have been getting better. Now that I know it is not some huge problem I am not worried. It is all good.
  25. It is most definitely not left in the body. If it did not have blood flow it would become necrotic and cause sepsis. If it did have blood flow it would continue to produce acid with no way to drain or it would leak into the abdominal cavity. I believe earlier (like 70's) stomach "stapling" left the stomach in and it was just stapled through the middle kind of. Yes it caused problems. VSG is not this surgery in any way. The staples can be seen on an x-ray but no problems with an MRI or metal detectors. In less than 6 months your body will surround the staples with scar tissue and the staples will not be able to be seen if someone was looking inside your abdomen. Just like Vegas said!
