  1. Oh boy. What a wild ride the last few days have been! Ignore my spelling. I can't be bothered with it. I had to wait hours all dressed up in my butt showing gown. They wheeled me back around 11:30 or so. They put the mask on and told me too breath deep and thats it. I remember waking up in the anesthia recovery room begging for someone to help me. I was holding on to somebody in the room and wouldn't let go. I think I was in pain and scared. The next thing I remember was waking up in my room with my wonderful, loving, awesome husband by my side. I had a morphine pain pump. It worked for the most part. I am not one to lie though. I don't want to scare anyone reading this later away but I was not one of the ones who found it to not be very painful. August 26th was one of the most painful days of my life. HOWEVER I would do it all again and you can make it though! I was supposed to be up and walking but only walked once. I just hurt too much. Second day: The spasms in my stomach started when I took my first drink of Water. I knew from this site to make it tiny and it was about 1/16th to 1/8 of an ounce so it was not too big. My stomach was just upset with me on the second day and let me know. I found holding my breath for just a few seconds helped when the spasm started. The nurses don't want you doing that but if your diaphram is moving your stomach is too. Don't hold too long though. I can only describe the spasms like a pill the size of a dinner plate went down wrong and is now stuck in my throat and then starts moving through my stomach. The third day I had had it it with the spasms and complained to anyone who would listen. Finaly I got some valium for them and that really helped! Ask for some if you need it. They crushed it up and I drank the mix by the sips. They did not go away completly but they came less often. You simply can't drink anything when you spasm for 20 mins after and stay sane. Ask for help! Spent the night at home last night. My doctor is stingy and I don't have much loritab. Maybe 6 doses so I am just dealing with discomfort. I can do it. I will try some liquid tylenol later today. I slept on my side for the first time last night and it was blissful. No regrets so far.
  2. Welcome! I am three days post op and I had dreams about food the first two nights. The night after surgery I was watching people eat and couldn't get to them. The second night I was in a lunch line picking stuff out but the stupid lunch ladies would not give me anything. I think the dreams are for a few reasons. I don't know about you but I am not hungry at all so I don't think it is physical hunger. I know I have an addiction to food. When I quit smoking I dreamed about smoking so it does not surprise me when I "quit" food I would dream about it. My husband pointed out that you are exposed to food no matter where you go. In the hospital my roomate was on a normal diet and got a huge tray of food. I got 1 oz of Jello that I never bothered to try and eat. Eating is also social. I came home last night and my family was tired and just wanted quick pizza. I ordered it for them. It was strange watching them eat. I was not hungry and really didn't want any but felt I was not a part of the group because I was trying to get a few ounces of Propel Water down not chowing on pizza. Last night I felt a loss of the social part. Hang in there. I know it will get better. Hopefully my ramblings let you know you are not alone.
  3. Wow about the beans Steve! I love beans. I was planning on them being a big part of my protein after I am cleared for soft foods. I will have to make sure they are well cooked and pureed. Did you have a bad time with beans?
  4. I would bet from a physc standpoint this is anxiety about what is going to happen after you swallow. All the negative things that happened right after surgery taught your brain to be cautious about eating. I am 3 days out and I wonder what will happen with each small sip.
  5. I have been nothing but an itch factory since surgery. It seems like everyone else put up lots of answers but you are not alone.
  6. Was it on an xray they saw the shadow? What happened? Fill us in!! I am worried about you. I was not to nausous (sp) or gassy but I did have an incredible amount of spasms in my esophagus and stomach. It was terrible. Someone finaly listened to me and I got some valium. That stopped the spasms cold. I know another person on this board has been having trouble with spasms since surgery. I feel for you girlfriend. They are the pit of hell.
  7. Oh and I have before pics to post and my single lap wound to post. Don't let me forget.
  8. Hi Guys! I sleeve sista! I am home. I am worn plum out. They let me go early. I am glad Ann your doctor is making sure you are ok. I had a tough time with my doctor. Lets just say the last few days have not been very good. I am sleeved though and that is all that matters. I will elbaorate (whine) more later. I can't believe I am sleeved!
  9. Well surgery is today guys!!! I have not had anything to eat since Sunday night. I am not hungry but feel kinda foggy in my head. Sorry if my spelling is worse that usual. I have to scrub my tummy again with anti bacterial stuff. I am all packed with books, netbook (too watch movies), and iTouch. The hardest part is going to be leaving my wedding ring at home . I am a little scared that my pain won't be controlled after surgery but my DH has assured me he will be right on top of it. My report time is 9 am but parking can be bad at that time so DH and are going earlier. I should be in surgery by 10:30 or so. I will be discharged on Saturday sometime. I will try and post from the hospital on a friends phone if it works like I think it will. I wanted to thank everyone here for all the incredible support you give. Honestly there were times I felt like this was the only place I could go and not be judged and harrased about my choice. Those already sleeved, you are getting huge karma points for helping those coming behind you. Catch you guys on the sleeved side!!!! :cool0:
  10. I spent all evening on the toilet, seriously. I was so close to hurling I didn't even want to post here. I know you are already in surgery!!! I look foward to seeing how you are doing when I am out. I am going to try and post here from a friends phone at the hospital. See how it goes. Good luck!!! I am thinking of you!!
  11. Sounds like a modified plan. I don't have to do full liquids as long as you do but am doing clears for 2 days before and 7 after (or 8 can't remember in my starved state). As far as the pills go. And it was me.........just if it was me.......not giving medical advice here.........I would ask your pharmacisit which ones can be crushed and crush those for a few weeks. But that is just me. To be on the safe side. I wouldn't want a pill hanging out in my staple line causing irritation. Again just me.

Surgery day is here. Feeling good. Little nervous. Not much to say. I have to go scrub my tummy with the stuff and hope my period does not get too out control when I get the Heparin shot. New Me here I come!!!
  13. Welcome!! I was going to get the band but I also was not crazy about he foregin object. Once I started reading all the complications I knew it was not for me. I searched long and hard on the net for complications storries of the sleeve. They are there but near as many. It might just be less have been done than the band but I believe it also just does not have as many daily life problems as the band. I also wanted a permanent solution. They say the band is permanent but it only has a life of 10 years so that is not very permanent is it?
  14. :001_wub: My wonderful hubby bought me new panties. He was careful to say he only bought 6 pairs because I looked silly walking around with my panties down. He looked at the too big ones and bought a size down. They fit perfect. He knew I would never do it myself. How did I get so lucky?

I am one day out! Drinking my umm errr laxitive right now. It is nasty but oh well. Have not ate anything since Sunday night and not feeling very hungry. I do have anxiety but I have meds for it so really I am doing great. Ask for meds!!! lol
  16. I never had the band but wanted to say welcome!! There are several people here who revised. I bet you will hear from them soon!
  17. Jello does slide into the cracks. I am not hungry at all today. Of course it could be all the excitement and I was running around work this morning trying to make sure I had thought of everything before leaving. I am now drinking my "stuff". It is called Magnesium Citrate Oral Solution Saline Laxative, lemon flavor. It tastes like what you would expect Mr. Clean lemon would taste like. I can already feel my tummy rumbling. I have a feeling the bathroom and I will be best buds by the end of the day. How ya doing sleeve sista?
  18. Cheri that is great. I am jealous!!! Meow: That is terrible. I bet when you go to full liquids you will bounce right back.
  19. I am actually doing ok on the clears today. I am a little hungry but not ravished.
  20. I have tricare west prime. My surgery is being done at a military facility. Are you eligible for tricare prime? Where is the closest military facility to you? What is your status? (active, retired) Sorry so many questions. I believe we can work around this and get you the sleeve!!! Lots of us Military girls around. Oh and which region tricare do you have?
  21. How are all the Awesomist Augusts doing? Most of you have had your surgerys and are running all about. Few of us still holding up the rear.
  22. I just wanted to throw up one more update for any reading in the future. TMI Alert: 78 hours after stopping I started flowing heavy. That lasted 3 days then stopped. I would go a few days and then spot, go a few days and spot. Now I think I am having my "normal" period but it is heavy, full of clots, and taking forever. At the rate I am going I will still be flowing for surgery on Wed. That should be nice once I get the Heparin (blood thinner) shot. I have not had a period like this since I was like 15 or 16. I would honestly have postponed my surgery a month and finished the pill pack. Emotionally it has been a hot poker in an already hot fire. Just kinda hard to deal with. Feel free to message me if you have questions.

What a mess I am this morning. Crying, crying and more crying and I don't want to drink my clear juice (super duper berry blaster). I want my decaff Starbucks non fat latte. Not much more to say. I am filled with anxiety but excited too. Humm. I keep thinking of skinny clothes and hiking trips. Soon, very soon.
  24. I think you did the right thing I really do. Oreo muncher has already been at me this morning. I came in crying because I am having a lot of anxiety. She was like "see I told you this is a sign it is not (munch munch) good for you to do to your body (munch munch)." I told her to hush. I didn't want to hear about it anymore. If she didn't hush I would write her up for gossiping. She has been quiet. :lol0:
  25. This morning was awful! Tears galore. Scared tears but not like "what am I doing tears" just anxiety. So far clears is ok but I have only been up 3 hours lol. I can't whine too much about clears. I know people have done 11, 14, 16 days. UGH.
