    List of October Bansters

Banded on 10/14/09. So far so good... happy with my band!
  3. Wow!!! That is a really good picture. You are so close to 100 pounds... I am very happy for you! Keep it up!
  4. Thank you Suzanne! I started at 224-225, and I am 5'2". Just a little shorter... Right now the only downside is that I haven't had an fill and I am starting to get hungry. My Dr. told me to eat a protein bar when I get hungry. That seems to be working. But I get hungry at night. Other than that, everything is going great! My first fill will be on Dec. 4.

Are you at your goal weight already? You look great!

  5. Hi Laura~ You're welcome. It is nice to see how well you are doing. I had surgery on 10/14. So far I've lost 18.5 pounds. I'm still adjusting to all the changes, but feeling great! Thanks for asking. I posted an album yesterday. At least 2 before pics and one picture of me that my son took yesterday. Hey take care and keep posting them! It is so motivating to see others do well.... Talk to you soon.

  6. Hi! Thanks for the response. It is good to know that this is "normal". I know it is early in the process, so my body is still healing. I posted an album and will continue to update it. Hope you are doing well!!!

  7. Hi Suzanne! Hope you are doing well! I had my surgery on Oct. 14 and so far I am doing great. Lost 18 pounds as of today. I wanted to ask you about discomfort. I always have this feeling of pulling in my stomach. Specially at night when I'm trying to go to bed. Not sure if it is the band or the scar tissue from the surgery. Did that happen to you?

    200 lb weight loss

    Great job!!! You look great!
  11. Hello Oct Bandsters! I hope everyone is doing well. Yesterday I saw the surgeon for the first time after surgery (Oct 14). Everything looks great and I've lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks. The hardest part for me is getting the liquids in (60oz per day). My first fill will be Dec. 4. But so far, hunger is not too much of an issue. Take care everyone and good luck!
  12. Hi, I was banded 10/14. My doctor said I could do any aerobic exercise, but to be careful because I should not lift anything over 10 pounds for 2 months. However, I am still a little sore, so I am just walking for now. Maybe after 2 more weeks I will feel more comfortable doing some aerobic exercises. Talk to your doctor about it. He/she should be the one to give you advice. If you do things on your own and do not follow his/her instructions, and anything goes wrong, they would say it is your fault for not following their post-op instructions. (Just to be on the safe side). Good luck, and congratulations!!!
  13. Hi Guys, just a little update. Glad to see that for the most part everyone is doing well. The pain is almost gone. (Banded 10/14). I've lost 13 pounds since surgery and today I start the soft diet. Same as many of you, I was not hungry for the most part for the first 10 days. Now I am having a hard time getting all my liquids in. It takes a lot of determination to drink 64oz at this stage. I am really happy with the band now that the pain is gone. It felt soooo good to eat an egg this morning!!!! :-) Good luck to all!
  14. Hi! Just checking on you. How are you feeling?

  15. Hi, my Drs. have a very strict post-op diet. The first two days was Clear liquids including these Protein drinks. Now I am on a liquid diet for 10 days. That is only Soup (strained), Jello, pudding, yogurt, protein supplements, liquid Vitamins, Water, juice (all sugar-free). After day 12, I can start adding very few pureed foods like eggs, potatoes, tuna. Drinks have to be sugar-free and cafeine-free. Good luck!
  16. Hi everyone! I made it 6 days post-op. It seems like this is such a different process for each of us. My scars are healing very quickly and pain-free. I had no problems with eating, drinking, going to the bathroom at all. The only thing that was very hard, was the post-op gas pain. It did not reach my showlders, but it stayed in the belly area and the sides. That was much more painful than I could ever imagine. However, it seems like this is not a problem for most people. I have been able to drink the amounts of protein supplements and liquids that they want me to drink. Hunger comes and goes, not too much of a problem. I am glad I did it. So far, I've lost 8 pounds in 6 days. If anyone would like to ask me a question, please feel free to send me a private message. Good luck to all!!!!
  17. Hello, I was banded yesterday (10/14/09) and have extreme pain from gas. There is no comfortable position. Any advise? How long does it takes to go away? Thank you!

    Gas Pain

Thank you! I have been walking. However, it doesn't go away. It is a little better today though... Thanks!
  19. Well, this is it! My surgery is tomorrow morning. I will post as soon as possible... Good luck to those who are being banded tomorrow as well. Good night!

    Self-pay question

Hi, I have the same insurance and I am self-pay. They covered all my pre-op visits including the consult with the surgeon and the bloodwork. Good luck!
  21. I had the same issue. Then decided not to tell anyone else. You are the only one that matters. Focus on getting ready for surgery and a healthier you! My surgery is next week and at this point, most people who were not supportive are not saying much. My family is very supportive, but friends and co-workers are already scrutinizing what I am eating... I realized that for many of them it is very hard to understand because they never struggled with weight. So I don't say anything anymore because all we need is positive energy and support. Good luck!

    That

You look great! You can really tell: your face and body. Great job!!!!
  23. Just venting a little... I am 226 pounds, 5'2". BMI around 41. However, most people say i don't look "that heavy" because I have a lot of muscle mass. Lately, when I tell people I am having the lap band surgery in October, about 80% of them tell me: "you are not "that fat", "you really don't need it", "how did you get the insurance to cover it", "are you sure you want to do that, I've heard bad things", "you are healthy" and the classic, "so you are going that route? why don't you try other things?"... My insurance did NOT cover it, so I have to pay out of pocket. :w00t: Anyway... all that to say, I decided not to tell anyone else until after the surgery. Who people think they are to judge how "fat" or "not that fat" anyone is... Blah, blah... lol I know some of you can relate... I am super excited about my upcoming surgery and now I just tell them.. just watch me! :blushing: I'M NOT LISTENING.... LALALALALA (covering ears)
