  1. I know that throwing up can cause pouch dilation and band slippage but can PBing cause the same? Sometimes when I eat certain things, bites that are too big or as a result of eating too fast the food just comes right back up. I am working on this and I am getting better about it but I am a little scared of causing any complications. I appreciate any info or experience anyone else has!

    Called a Cheater

I don't think people understand that weightloss surgery of any kind is not easy! We have to live with restrictions for the rest of our lives. For example, I watched my son eat a huge cheeseburger the other day and wanted a bite so bad! But I know what misery I would be in if I indulged. However, that urge was short lived and weighed myself the next day and had lost two pounds. The band makes up for the willpower that I lack on my own. You are definitely not a cheater because you elected to have surgery to make you a healthier person. And the difference is that while people can lose it on their own, they will likely gain it back. I think most of us on this board have done that several times. I applaud anyone who is brave enough to have surgery to make them a better person.
  3. I know that everyone is different, but I am just trying to get an idea of what the average number of cc's that people who are at their sweet spot have in a 10 cc band So far I have 3 cc's which isn't much and like everyone else I am anxious to get to my sweet spot. Thanks for any input!

    What is "sliming?"

I have read this term on here and I am just wondering what it means. That way I will know when I do it! Thanks.
  5. I am scheduled to be banded last week of April and was wondering if anyone else has any feedback on Cincinnati Weightloss. Dr and staff seem very nice and personable but I would like to hear from anyone who has used them regarding their personal experience. I was impressed with the fact that most people who work in that office have been banded by the doctor there.
  6. Just wondering how long others were on full liquids and when you were allowed to transition to "mushies." Also, I was banded on 4/24 and am looking for anything that I can eat that falls into liquid category, so I would really love it if some of you would share some of your favorite "liquid" sources of nutrition. My doctor gave me a list but if I have to eat chicken broth and sf jello much longer I am going to break down. Good thing I am really not that hungry yet. Thanks for any input you can offer.
  7. Thanks for all the info. It kind of helps me to know what to expect even though everyone is different Jaqui, I think we all know what it feels like to just want to lose a little more even after a big weight loss, but you have done awesome. You are a real inspiration to those of us just starting this journey. Holly
  8. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if you feel restriction immediately after surgery. I don't think my doc puts any fluid in band at time of surgery. Has anyone else just had the band and no fluid and still felt restriction and if so for how long. Do most people end up in "Bandster Hell?" Thanks, I am trying to be prepared.
  9. I quit smoking 6 months ago but honestly with this pre-op liquid diet I find myself wanting to revert to old habits. What is the boggest thing I have to worry about if I do relapse? Right now I am relying on willpower and prayer to keep me from lighting up.
  10. I am on my second day of my diet and I am starting to worry about my liver not shrinking enough. I have had years of overeating, drinking alcohol, and I am sure probably other unhealthy habits that I am not even aware of. My surgery is in 9 days and dont see how a two week liquid diet can really shrink my liver after years of unhealthy habits. I am on an 800 calorie liquid diet. The nurse said to drink slimfast, 3 cans per day and any low or no-calorie liquids. She said I could even have a glass of dry red or white wine as long as it falls into my 800 calorie allowance. I guess at this point I am so nervous and scared that something could go wrong. Any input or advice would be so appreciated.
  11. I know that I have seen this explained before but I cant find anything online about how to figure this out. It seems like whenever you try to find out what weightloss is expected, best case scenario, is 1-2 lbs per week or 50 percent of your excess weight. So does this mean that if I am 100 lbs over my ideal weight I will lose 50 lbs? Thanks to anyone who can explain this to me:smile2:.
  12. I am so happy to have found this site! I am due to be banded the last week of April and I am starting to feel a little nervous about the post-op pain. I know that I will have some pain but was wondering if anyone could share their post-op stories regarding the amount of pain/discomfort. I have had abdominal surgery before and I know that everyone's pain tolerance is different. I guess I am just trying to prepare myself in advance. I would welcome any advice to make things easier during and after my surgery. Thanks!

    Self-Pay Question

I think that if your surgeon doesnt have a waiting list you can get an surgery date pretty quickly. For example, I am self pay because my insurance doesn't cover obesity related surgery. I had my first appt Mon April 6 and was approved for financing. My surgery date is April 24. Pretty darned quick! It stinks that I have to pay out of pocket but at least with self pay you dont have to jump through all of the insurance hoops. Best of luck to you!
  14. I am not telling anyone either. My husband and my mother know and that is it. I am fearful that people will offer unwanted advice or tell me how risky weightloss surgery is. I feel like it is a personal choice. My mom had gastric bypass several years ago and people still offer up weight loss surgery horror stories that they have heard from someone. Maybe after I have lost weight I will share my story, but i agree that I am not comfortable talking about my weight with anyone either.
