  1. I would not worry to much about the weight gain. I would attribute that to like post op when you go from liquids and mushies to regular solid food. You see a lot of people on here who gain during that period. Give it a couple of days, make the right food choices and exercise. Wishing you positive thoughts and good health.

Hello, I see that you have had a tremendous amount of success with the lap band and was wondering if you might have any words of wisdom for me? I was banded back in April and have only lost 9 lbs since that time. I lost the 9 lbs following the first few weeks following surgery. The next few months were a series of fills which were too low, too tight and now, I think correct. The issue I have is that I can still eat junk and while I try to stay away from it I am still snacking. If you don't mind sharing, I was wondering what your diet was like. I am really getting down and have been kicking myself for not having had gastric bypass surgery.

Any help you might be able to provide would be appreciated

  2. I am finally getting my first fill (90 days post op!!!) the delay was due to insurance restrictions. I've only lost 10 lb because I only felt restriction for the first 30 days and I 've been trying not to gain any of the 10 I've lost back but it's hard because I don't feel any restriction. When I have my fill will I have any in put as to the amount of the fill or do most of you find that the doctors do what they deem best?

  3. Tina,

You're story is a great inspiration. It looks like you have a lot of people asking for your help, if you can find the time to help one more person it would be appreciated.

I am going to be banded this Tuesday and am feeling a little nervous and to be perfectly honest, feeling a little like a failure. I lost a great deal of weight 9 years ago and while I managed to keep it off for 6 years, the past three years saw it all come back on. I am as heavy as I have ever been and cannot believe I'm back in this place. At any rate, I'm looking at the banding as a tool and a way to get my life back.

Thanks for posting your story, I look forward to speaking with you in the future.

  4. The portal! Vanity. Worried what a future partner might think when he feels it. (single right now) of all the things to stress about... silly isn't it?

Not silly at all, my friend had the same concern and this is what I told her.. men, in general, are pigs (I mean this in the nicest way possible), they would not care if we had 4 legs, 2 heads and six arms,so don't stress about a small port, they will not even notice. Besides, even if they did there are a lot of kinky people out there, I'm sure there will be some port nuts soon enough :welldoneclap:

  5. So i was banded yesterday April 1st...My hospital experience i must say was amazing, the nurses were just wonderful! I came from the hospital last night, and I was in pain, and didnt really sleep. I wasnt comfortable in any position. So i ended up sleeping on the recliner lol...i was takin the pain meds every 4hrs, and that would allow me to sleep for about 3hrs, but then i was up and had to take another dose to sleep more. Day 2, i was in pain all day, i tried walking around and even went outside and walked but the gas pain is still there. SO, basically ive been layin around all day with some walking, now I feel a lil nauseous...i called the doc, and he just called me something in, and i hope it works! I just want this recovery process to be over lol...Im being impatient!

    Danielle,

I'm from NJ as well and will have my surgery this Tuesday. By any chance was your surgeon Dr. Bertha? Do you plan on attending any of the support groups offered? Hope you continue to recover.

  6. Hello,

I am scheduled to have my lap band surgery this upcoming Tuesday and am feeling a bit anxious. I was wondering if anyone could give me any words of wisdom about what to expect after the surgery, particulary the first few weeks when diet seems to be very limited.

I would like to drop 75 lbs. but my doctor tells me 50 is more realistic, can anyone comment on this? It's always been my feeling that dieting, like anything else in life, gives you what you put into it. If all guidelines are followed I'm assuming greater weight loss is possible, for those of you living with the band, any feedback would be most appreciated.

    Thanks!
