  1. Hey, hows it going? I am trying to get back on this site more because I need a reality check. I have really been slacking and the fact that I have never gained (havent lost either) seems to have 'helped' me delude myself that things were ok...

  2. Of course there is risk to any surgery but the lap band is very minimal. My surgeon has had no deaths and no serious complications. Find a good surgeon who shows his complication rates.I dont want to be rude but if you are around 100 pounds overweight your risks are higher from the obesity than the surgery. And if you have been overweight and failed to lose and keep a weight off for many years...(like most of us) this may be just what you need. You will find most people on this site feel like the band has saved their lives!Good luck, you'll get lots of support and straight answers here!

  3. Hi! Thanks for friending me! I am not on here as much as I used to be but always happy to answer questions if I can! I usually just read the sweet spot by band_groupie everyday. If you havent I advise reading her at your leisure all the way back to her day one...its funny and very inspiring!

  4. Wow...I would love to speak to a group someday, its really an honor! I am thankful for my band everyday! My loss has been very slow and some of my long plateaus are prob becuse I have to drive 4 hours down to LA for a fill but I am still thrilled! I just feel great! I wish I could have done this 15 years ago!!

  5. Thanks for friending me. I have been a very slow loser with only about 40 lost in almost a year but i think thats ok for me. 35 to go and if it takes a year that's probably ok too!I am not dieting just living a different lifestyle...Xav

  6. Hey...my sprouts are in! About 2" or so of new hair springing up!!!

  7. You're probably not on this site too much these days...but let me know how youre doing if you drop by!

  8. Hows it goin'? I have been slacking a bit and now I think I'm back on track...we'll see!!!

  9. Thanks. You'll get tons of good info and support here...ask us ANYTHING!!! If youre not already following the band_groupie blog, its a good way to get started and learn a lot!

  10. Just any big drugstore. It is a huge white band with velcro. The whole thing is stretchy and it goes around your waist from under boob to top of panties...it really holds your gut in tight so nothing can move and hurt....I woke up with mine on and was told to keep it on for two weeks except to shower...send a friend out for one!!!

  11. Do you have that abdominal binder? That really helped me sleep, especially since I wanted to sleep on my side!

  12. Still doing ok or are the drugs wearing off!?

  13. Glad to hear it...I had a heria repair also and since then I have never had even one tiny episode of heartburn which I had really bad before...glad you got a fill too....a new beginning, thanks for keeping in touch. Now remember you are full of fluids so stay off the scale for at least a week!!!

  14. C'mon, Baby...let us hear from you...

  15. Thinking of you...say yes to drugs!!!

  16. Get your hair done and prob mani pedi! I drew a fake crossword puzzle tattoo on my belly which was my doc's name crossing the words lap and band...I didnt want to accidentally end up with GB or sleeve!

  17. I'm counting down for you...cant wait to hear you're recovering...

  18. Wow your pix are great...you are looking awesome! The one on the skateboard just says, look out world!

  19. Your progress pictures are fantastic ...some of the best I've seen here! You lost weight very quickly...I guess I am on the slow plan but its still all good. I wish I could have done this 15 or 20 years ago!! CONGRATS!!!

  20. Still cant comment...I get the runs too from the milk in those protein drinks...I think I am getting lactose intolerant in my old age! I could prob try the soy...never though of it...duh!

  21. Well the secret is getting out...start looking at every woman you see in black pants...waitstaff, professional, etc...everyones wearing them! They even make some with beltloops to really fool you. They wash great and never lose their color or shape! My one girlfriend is a doc and when I visited her I saw she came home from work in some beautiful black pants with a slight sheen to them...I thought they were silk, probably lined because that would have been her style...shes a mom now so no dry cleaning etc...anyway she gave me two pair (from her pregnancy...! LOL!) and I have never worn anything else! They are actually pretty flattering for the trunk if theres some junk in there! Hers were Nike and now I get some at the little Lands end shop thats inside our Sears!

    5 days...!!!!!

  22. dear Jax, when I read your blog theres no box under it for comments..I always enjoy what you have to say, but I think this is why people havent responded...youre NOT boring!!!

  23. Girl, thats what yoga pants are for...no one even knows theyre not a nice pair of black dress pants! I'll never wear anything else to work!! You are such a little doll, you would have to get them shortened or wear the capris as pants!

  24. Oh, ok so youre a 'band over GB'...I think it will really be good for you...we have something big (LOL) in common! I gained a ton of weight on prednisone to and I have often wondered if taking it repeatedly as a child (I have been photographed for medical literature for my outrageous repeated cases of poison ivey and oak) is why I am the only fatty in my family! The last time I took it was in 2001 I think and it was 80 mg per day at the highest but as soon as I would try to taper down the rash on my legs was climbing from high on my thighs to well, I just couldnt let it go any higher! I have had it since but refused the steroids and just scratched the hell of of myself! Those are some evil drugs!!!They also made me a little (more) crazy!

Well good luck and please ask me anything you want to about the procedure...

PS Yes I have slacked a little on the protein and a lot on the water...thanks for the clue!

  25. Im doing good...kind of stuck at 176 which is great but 174 will be out of the obese range so I cant wait to see it! I am curious although its none of my biz, exactly what your revision will involve? And when was your original GB? Will they hook you up lower down the intestinal road, so to speak, as I think they go lower on the more recent procedures?anyway I hope you wake up in one of those abdominal binders...a lot of people didnt get one and I think mine made a huge difference in pain level...I tell people to go get one at the drug store...it really holds everything snug..I think I wore mine for two weeks and whenever I took it off to shower things hurt because of gravity!!Oh,also you must be staying over night right? Thats good I think...even for my little ol band, I wish I had!
