    regrets about lapband choice?

    regrets about lapband choice?

First off I would like to say, I haven't been banded YET!!! OHH TopTier, Congrats your surgery is tomorrow...My husbands birthday... Anyway, I am choosing the band because that is what I feel is right for me. I have about 100 lbs to lose. My mom on the other hand has about 250 lbs to lose and she is choosing the RNY. Now my Aunt had GB about 5 years ago. She did loose 120 lbs but has gained back about 50 or so and is now wanting the LapBand. When you go into WLS you choose what you think is best for you but that surgery may not agree with you. I am just hoping all the best for me and my mother and hope we have made the right choice!!!! I hope I have no regrets!!!!!
  11. Wasa and HH are going to turn "Sleeve vs. Band" thread into the Agnes thread. We might as well quit posting anything because our opinions are never right!!!

    Approved

The second I got my letter(well actually I could check on my insurances website) I called my surgeon to schedule an appointment. lol But they hadn't recieved my approval from my insurance so I had to wait another day!!! LOL My surgery day is July 28th and I couldn't be happier. Congrats to you. I know the feeling of being way to excited about being approved... Maybe you can be a July Freedon Fighter as well...... Jennifer
  13. I am seeing Dr. Searles, June 3rd for my first consult. I hope all goes well and we can soon schedule surgery.
  14. I am seeing Dr. Searles also. My surgery date is July 28th. My husband and I just got back from a weekend of fishing in the Russian River near Kenai. I see you are going through Tricare as well. I got approved in 4 days. It was really easy. I am assuming your hubby is military?? anyway, it is really nice to find some here(anchorage) that is going through the same thing... Jennifer

    Smoking...

I was freaking out because my surgeon wanted me to be 2 months smoke free before I would even have my first consult with him. Well I quit Apr 2nd and haven't smoked since. I have switched surgeon due to out of pocket expensive. This surgeon doesn't require me to be smoke free but I still haven't started again. I guess what made me really want to quit was that I wanted the surgery even more. Jennifer
  17. Your date is on my husbands birthday!! My date is 4 days after my birthday. Oh and I am sorry we can't have our own opinion about certain things because we get bitched at for expressing them!!!!

  18. I am sorry to say Wasa but you are being a bitch about it. Wait no I am not sorry. Why did you convert to the sleeve after getting the band?? Was the band not keeping you at your goal weight? I know alot of people who will convert to either a sleeve or RNY because the band did not work for them. There has to be some reason. I guess if any of us has a different opinion then you we better watch out cause you will have something to say about that!!!! If it makes you feel better to have the last word please feel free to respond with some type of jerky ass comment! I have better things to do then to sit on the computer all day!!!!!
  19. My own medicine??? Um I don't know what you mean.... I never handed out medicine..... Look yes like you said. this is a little High School and we shouldn't be degating each other or the poster. I may have been rude ONCE(about her being vain) but if you read my posts I was trying to be informative. Lets give it a rest.....:blushing:
  20. WTH? How can you people be so amazingly rude to this poor girl? So what if it is vanity? I didn't have a single comorbidity when I had my surgery. Nothing. I did it for 100% pure vanity. It's okay to want to look good, that's not a selfish self centered thing. Respect is earned, you are not deserving of respect for insulting someone. You know what? I think some of you are simply jealous because you let your own weight get very far out of hand before taking control. We have someone who doesn't want to be in our shoes, she wants control of it now and look at your behaviors! It's disgusting. Now I know why I was baited to this thread. ;o) And I am quite glad I was. Don't you freak'n tell me I am jealous. Do you think I chose to be in a car accident and have to be on bed rest for 7 months???? It was out of my control gaining the weight I did. On top of it after I got pregnant I got gestational diabetes and gained 109 lbs... DID you even read her first post. She made it seem as if she new nothing about the surgery before already planning to do it. Besides I never insulted her. Just by saying I don't think she needs it doesn't mean I am insulting her. If she wants to get the surgery, then she should do it. Just because I don't think she should doesn't mean a damn thing. If you want me to be insulting I will, but not with the OP, but with you. If you actually read all of my post instead of singling out peices, I was trying to inform her of certain things. The only reason you where baited to coming to this post was to tell everyone about your problems with the band, not to be a jerk for everyones opinions. You don't know everything!!!!!! If you get online under the lapband.com website it says you need to be 100 lbs overweight inorder to get the surgery. I think that is why alot of people don't agree with Agnes getting the surgery. Besides its not like she isn't going to do it just because we think she doesn't need it!!!! LOL LOL Get mad all you want but don't think you can talk to me the way you did with out a response.
  21. I was wondering how you know she is ONLY 30 or so lbs over weight? I know you keep saying that over and over in your posts. After saying that, Agnes I don't necessarily think you NEED the surgery. But of course it is up to you... There is a reason why most surgeons and insurances would approve the surgery and why you are having to go to Mexico. you don't weight enough. Surgeons willing to do the surgery on you are doing it for the money. Just remember, find a doc close to you that will take care of the after care because many surgeons won't care for you if you go to Mexico for surgery. Some won't even see you if they didn't do the surgery. I also think it was quit silly to have your "husband" (if it was really him, probably wasn't) ask about fills and how much work you will have to miss. If you know much about the surgery, then you should have informed you husband about that. And with work, well like any other surgery you will have to take "some" time off. It all depends on what you do. I just really hope you are not doing this because of being vain. Do you have any co-morbities, Besides you feeling fat or crying because you can't wear regular close? Just remember, I said it before, you posted this question on this forum for everyone, so you actually have to respect everyone opinion. Just because it isn't what you wanted to hear, doesn't mean it doesn't deserve respect..... Jennifer
  22. I would have to agree with the last 2 posters, even though I know what it feels like being told I was not FAT ENOUGH to have the surgery. I am fat enough because insurance approved me. I am 100+ lbs overweight. I actually think you don't have a real grasp on what this surgery intales. I think you are thinking of it as magic. And please know that with you not needing to lose as much, the weight you wanna lose will come off SLOWER!!!! I just hope you really know what you are doing and think long and hard about whether this surgery is right for you. If I were you I would save the money and use some on Nutra-System!!!! I don't mean to be rude but you post your post so you can get responses.. No one said we would have to agree!!!! Jennifer
  23. I am waiting till June 3rd to see the surgeon, but I know tricare can be very picky about the weight and such. I am 5'4" 239 lbs I have 1 co morbity Hypertention. And I have been over weight for my whole teen and adult life. I have found many different hight and weight charts and everyone seems to be different. If anyone has any info just let me know. Thanks Jennifer
