Slippage..convert to Bypass???
mominkansas replied to lisakayinWA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I slipped and was rebanded. I quite honestly would have a hard time doing the sleeve. I read some message boards and I saw just as many complications. Can I ask if you had the realize or the Lapband? I know that the realize has a lower incidence of slippage. That may be a good alternative. -
Air in the band
mominkansas replied to CathyBFromGa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you try something other than greek yogurt. I love it but there are days because of its density and richness that I can not eat it. -
at ends witts.. unsuccessful surgery
mominkansas replied to Miss Sammy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
can you give us an example of what you eat daily. Hopefully its an easy fix. Either way its a letdown and that stinks! -
Are protein shakes considered a meal?
mominkansas replied to criveraarroyo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
one of the worst things you could do is NOT count it as a meal. -
I too like the premiere shake but I find that the day after drinking one I gain a pound for a short time. I almost wonder if it has a high amount of sodium or something.

I tried pure protein drinks on a suggestion on here and like them. Sam's club has the chocolate ones 24/$29.99

Terrible 1st Fill - Flipped Port
mominkansas replied to AFmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my port repositioned. I had so much fat when banded that there was no way to secure the port and anchor it. In the 4 weeks before my fill some of that fat burned off and left my port hanging so to speak. I had it resecured though I was told that it could have been manipulated , I didn't want to mess with it. -
Do you find yourself harder on yourself now that you are losing weight? This time last year if my swimsuit did not cut off my circulation I was happy and satisfied. This year I have been pulling my hair out trying to find a suit. Do you feel the same way?

Salad! I had SALAD!!
mominkansas replied to CathyBFromGa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Love salad. It is one of my only sure things I can eat so I often eat it when I have to go out for lunches/dinners. I add some cheese to help with the Protein and love them, even more than I did pre banding! -
Your first few weeks are all about healing, many even gain weight at this point, so staying put is a good thing!

still having heartburn
mominkansas replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was at my sweet spot I noticed that salt really gave me a hard time. I would write down all the things that affect you and then see if you can establish a link between them. -
I've read that stuck pills can cause a sort of acid burn which causes a bit of discomfort for a few days. Maybe this is the case. If you had slipped you would not be able to keep liquid down.

Has anyone tried brown rice Protein powder? Hemp powder? What is is your feedback on them? I can't do soy protein for health reasons. I have been doing whey since being banded and have had no issues but from what I read I think it may be a bit bloating. I suspect that it may have lead to my issues that I am going through at the moment. Looking for feedback as I have too many times purchased large amounts of protein that was horrid. I hope to avoid that this time. Thanks!

Scared to death.......Band slipped...Help
mominkansas replied to hdsantoni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad your doc didn't beat around the bush. Once you slip once it will happen again and again. I slipped was unfilled and then slipped again. I had reposition surgery and was fine a few days later. I found recovery a lot easier the second time around. Hope that you are on the mend soon! -
Another fill.. and heart burn :(
mominkansas replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You don't say how much of a fill that you got this time. To me it sounds like a tiny unfill may be needed. -
Really cute NSV
mominkansas replied to MySkinnyDream's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How sweet! My older son(9) always puts his arms around me to see how much I've lost. At first he couldn't get all the way around, he was thrilled when he could! -

I put the powder in my shakes as well without adding any water to it and it is awesome! -
Yet another complication-possible dialation
mominkansas posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been great bandwise. Went for a fill today and though my band is in great position I have a "bubble" above my band. No other symptoms, and lost 3 pounds(great since I am so close to goal). I fully trust the tech that does my fill. I got a partial unfill and am waiting 2 weeks. He seemed to be puzzled but not worried. Anyone go through this and can tell me what to expect short and long term? -
So its a bit of a brag but I bought a dress and a suit yesterday in a size 6. I started this journey about a year ago at an 18. Qutuestion is does it count if I can't sit in it yet? Of course I bought it! I was in shock!

Not sure if I need another fill, but not losing weight
mominkansas replied to patsal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think as you get close and its just a matter of tweaking its hard to know 100% and not as obvious as it is for the first few fills. -
what do you do for exercise?
mominkansas replied to jllybean1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work out 7 days a week for about 2 hours a day. Mix of bike, elliptical, weights, and floor exersise(pushups, planks, etc...)
