Would You Do It Again? Why Or Why Not?
mominkansas replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
honestly at this point I am on the fence. I am out 9 days and down 20 pounds of the 50 or so that I wanted to lose. This is a far harder adjustment than being banded, however I did have some serious complications like the leak during surgery. Ask me in a week and I am positive my answer will change -
Start Of A Bad Morning
mominkansas replied to PreciousCargo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
poor you:( I hope you feel better soon. Can you do Flinstones? -
I was just sleeved a week ago yesterday. The reason I am an odd bird is that I am pretty close to my weight and I am a vegetarian. I so far have lost 18 pounds in a week. I have gone back to work and resumed most everything despite the complications that I had(I had a leak during surgery that made them have to tube me and also put a drain in me). My problem now is that I can barely eat anything. I've learned to drink Water, G2, and tea to stay hydrated. I do my b-12 and Multivitamin in the AM on the way to work. But the only things I can mange to eat are Jello(I know not vegetarian but I caved), Ensure, and greek yogurt. Almost every Soup makes me feel sick. I've been told my stomach is extremely small because of the misfire of the stapler which cause the leak (he basically took my stomach from 90% to 85% because of the leak). The fluro looked great so the nurse just told me to keep trudging on(in a nice way) Any advice would be great. I have never thrown up but feel super duper sick anytime I eat anything but the above. Today I managed 5 bites of tomato soup and and to stop, same with cottage cheese which I still can't belive is a full liquid. Thank you!

Mr_worm I've considered that but think going with chicken years after being vegetarian would be a bad thing! -

Some Questions From A Newbie
mominkansas replied to mominkansas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A week ago yesterday. I had 3 days of Clear liquids after I got home and then graduated to full liquids which are liquids I can drink from a straw. Hmmm, wondering what others were told now? -
Some Questions From A Newbie

I had surgery on Tuesday and went back to my desk job for a 1/2 day Friday. I was super tired but had I not had the complications I think it would have been no problem. Hope that helps -

Metalic Taste In My Mouth When I Wake Up Each Morning
mominkansas posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I was sleeved a week ago today. I am wondering if anyone else wakes up each morning with a metalic taste in their mouth? I do almost each morning, though it goes away pretty fast! Can't wait to get to know each of you better! -
Any Low Bmi Folks Here?
mominkansas replied to lipstick22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My BMI is barely 30 and I am scheduled for surgery in less than a week. I was banded in '09 and lost 110 pounds rather quickly. I lost my band in 2010 to prolapse and though I do 2 a days and watch what I eat like a hawk the weight is creeping back on. -
Anyone try Bret Michaels new Snapple flavor? I LOVE it. for 10 calories I am searching everywhere for what is wrong with it. It is a must add, unless someone can find something wrong with it(still searching).

I dialated a few weeks ago and finally figured out what caused it. I would love to save someone. I have in order to get my Protein in been doubling my whey. I usually order ahead and pick up my drink but a few days ago I was a walk in. The guy that made my shake was planning on throwing away half my shake and of course I called him on it. Apparently the whey protein expands making the whole shake not fit into the cup. BINGO....I have been drinking this shake and the whey has expanded my pouch. I have done everything textbook AND my esphogus is perfect which leads me to believe as well as my surgeon that this is what caused my pouch to dialate. I was unfilled and I have stopped my doubling of protein and things are again normal. I hope that this helps someone!

Slippage..convert to Bypass???
mominkansas replied to lisakayinWA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Many times if you slip once you will reslip even if it corrects itself. I slipped super bowl sunday after I ate something that was bad(food poisoning). I slipped from throwing up. Fluid was removed and I went back to normal. April I reslipped out of the blue no warning, no symptoms. Its worth seeing first if it will resolve itself! -
Afraid to post this, but I really need advice
mominkansas replied to jllybean1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you shouldn't be afraid to post anything first of all! Sounds like you are in bandster hell. Call your doctor and see if your appointment can be moved up a week or two. You can have a fill 4 weeks after banding and you are already there. -
What do you use and do you like it? Also where could I get them? Anything that is icky that you would not recommend?. I want to get these last 8(or more) pounds off and I plan to up my protein. Any help would be great!
