91,100 for this surgery?
I would assume that no matter what the hospital bills your insurance company, they have a contracted amount for each procedure. I was looking at my spreadsheet where I keep track of all my medical expenses and I noticed that the amount billed is cut drastically to reach the amount agreed upon, then I pay 20% of the amount agreed upon. Last year, I paid $2,300 out of pocket (including deductibles) on medical billings of over $25,000 for Tina and I. Good luck. I hope this issue is settled so that your mind can be at peace.

What Peeves you?
There is a "South Park" episode about John Edwards and how he does what he does. I despise John Edwards for making a name for himself based upon the TWA Flight 800 tragedy. People like that are no better than grave robbers in my book. In fact, the people who stole bodies from graves in the 17th , 18th and 19th centuries at least contributed to medical science. People like John Edwards only contribute to their own pocketbook.

"Savage Nation"
Hillary being a Liberal is a myth. I lived in NY and her voting record in the Senate and the bills she sponsored show that she is not a Liberal. She has won over many of the Independents and even some of the Republican voters from the predominately Republican areas of upstate NY and Long Island. I am a Liberal. Neither Hillary nor Bill Clinton are Liberals.

Your MOST embarrassing experience? Spill it people!
OK. I am going to tell another story that happened to me and I am going to skip all the euphemisms and slang expressions, and tell it like it was. My wife and I were out one Sunday morning and we decided to drive to my step-father's home to check on it. He was in a nursing home and I was his legal guardian. The area were he lived had gone downhill and there was prostitution, drugs and other crimes prevalent in that area. It fact, two blocks away was a stroll (a place were inexpensive street walkers pick up "Johns" for car sex). Because my step-father's home was empty, it was a good place to stop the car for sex, I assumed, because I had driven up on "rocking cars" a few times when going over to feed my step-father's birds before deciding to take them to our home to make it easier to care for them. Well, I checked on my step-father's house and everything was ok, so we drove over to one of our favorite restaurants near that area for some Sunday morning brunch. While sitting at a Red Light, I looked down at the area where my feet are and saw something on my left shoe. I looked and looked and then started to reach down for it, when I realized what it was. It was a condom, used and full of semen. The first thing I thought of was "How do I explain a used, full condom in my car?" I was on the 3pm to 11:30pm shift at work and was held overtime about 45 minutes on the previous night because of an emergency and one guy showing up late. Normal overtime is 4 hours and Tina was shocked that I hadn't called her to tell her that I was working OT, but in those pre-cell phone days, it was impossible to get to a phone. So picture this, I had gotten home late last night and there is a used condom in my car. Well I did the only thing possible, I let Tina out at the restaurant door to put our name on the waiting list, while I found a place in the crowded parking lot to park the car. Then very gingerly I sacrificed my handkerchief to get rid of the misleading evidence. It was a small sacrifice to make.

Should Pets be more than Property?
Your poor cat may have been one of the many uncounted victims of this "Menu Foods" fiasco. Few things in life are more hurtful than losing a Pet, especially when it is taken away prematurely. Of course love ones come first. Love humans, I should have said, for our pets are truly also our loved ones.

Would you vote for First Lady with Cancer?
The wife of the 2004 Vice Presidential Democratic candidate John Edwards, Elizabeth Edwards, announced the day after the election that she had breast cancer. She had been cancer free ever since she was treated for that cancer. John Edwards is one of the front runners among the Democrats who have announced that they are running in the primaries to be the 2008 Democratic Presidential Candidate. Today, It was announced that Mrs. Edwards has suffered a return of the cancer, this time in a rib and in her lungs. It is incurable, but can be contained. They have elected to continue the campaign because the doctors said that the campaign will not impact on Mrs. Edwards' prognosis. Would you vote for a man to be President knowing that if elected, the first lady might die while in the White House of cancer? Would you want to avoid the spectacle and distraction of the illness in the White House or do you think that their courage in running makes them more appealing candidates (for President and First Lady)? Please vote for the general case. Do not consider John Edwards as the only person that could be in this position.

Should Pets be more than Property?
Many people are aware that the Menu food company, maker of dog and cat food for hundreds of brands, has been producing pet food which has killed animals. Menu Foods claims that about 15 animals have died and many have gotten sick, but a vet did a survey and he estimated that the number may already be over 250 dead pets. As it stands now, a pet is only considered a piece of property. If someone steals or kills your pet, it is the same thing as stealing a radio or TV from you. If the pet cost $100, you can only sue for $100. Obviously if someone killed your child, you could sue for millions (though no amount would be enough to erase your pain). Do you think that family pets should be treated differently under the law than a piece of property?

Paying Drug Abusers to be Sterilized
Obviously not. That is why they had "the evidence" on the dress. She spit "the evidence" out.

Paying Drug Abusers to be Sterilized
I think it was George Carling, but I am not positive.

Paying Drug Abusers to be Sterilized
I agree on the child abuse, but attempted murder is a stretch. But if we took the money that the prosecution cost and the incarceration would cost, we might be able to give prenatal care and counseling to that mother.

Rights of Medical Providers
The progressive state of South Carolina is in the process of passing another "common sense" law to "help mothers" make their choice about whether or not to have an abortion. The new law (when passed) will require a pregnant woman who wants to have an abortion to have an ultra-sound so that she can see what she is terminating The reasoning is, "once they see that they are killing a baby with arms, legs, beating heart, etc., they will change their minds". It is already bad enough that in states like South Carolina, women often have to travel quite a distance to find a facility that will perform an abortion. I can just imagine a poor woman who is aborting the fetus because she can not afford to support a child, having the added expense of having to travel to a distant city and then being told that she also has to pay for an ultra-sound before and besides the expense of the abortion, and then having to pay for a hotel room before making the journey home. Getting back to the theme of this thread, I wonder what would happen if the Medical professional does not believe in torturing a woman with the guilt that an ultra-sound might produce and the medical professional decides either not to perform the "test" or tells the woman that she can look the other way during the ultra-sound. With the shoe on the other foot, I wonder if the same people who defended the Medical professionals' right to refuse treatment will still defend them or will they change their tune?

Acceptable Bigotry?
I can believe it. They usually get everything backwards (not that I am saying that Muslim are any less, nor any more trustworthy that atheists or anyone else, for the matter).

Moral Dilemma
You said on the first page of this thread that you wished that Mr. P and his friend would be more discreet. I guess you finally got your wish, though I doubt it will be of any comfort to you now. Remember Mrs. P fondly and end your relationship with Mr. P as quickly, yet as discreetly as possible. There is a reward waiting for Mr. P and friend sometime in the future, and you don't need to judge nor be around people that leave a bitter taste in your mouth.

Acceptable Bigotry?
By the way, Green, I would love to see that Link to a site that says US voters would rather have a Muslim than an atheist as President.
-
Acceptable Bigotry?
I have in varying times in my life been an agnostic, an atheist and a Christian (both Roman Catholic and Protestant), and my morals never changed. I didn't steal, lie or kill no matter what my religious affiliation was, and I didn't change my voting pattern nor my ethics. Plus, I believe in the "Golden Rule; not because Christ proposed it, but because it is “Fair and Balanced”.

I think the people who go on the Mauri Povich show or Jerry Springer must be in a union. They never seem to be out of work.
