man, dont we have a moderator or someone that can delete stuff that is just going to inflame people intentionally?

its getting carried away. I subscribe to the site but im getting tired of getting notified every single time someone spams the lines or tries to start fires.

its getting old.

Hey, this is Rants and Raves, so anything goes (with a few exceptions). I think the articles a bunch of BS, but she is allowed to post it. Of course, that also means people are allowed to say what they think of it, too.

The fifth commandment according to the opening post is Honor your father and your mother and the sixth one is You shall not kill

But I remember reading someplace in the Bible that the punishment for not honoring your father and mother is being stoned to death.

So, in order to enforce the fifth, we have to break the sixth.

I would rather drink the fifth.

The seventh Commandment, You shall not commit adultery disqualifies all the front runners in the Republican party who would allow these 10 Commandments to be posted in the courthouses and schools.

About the forth commandment, Remember the Sabbath day to sanctify it. Six days shall you work and accomplish all your work but the seventh day is Sabbath to the Lord your God….

Does that mean that the fire department must let your home burn down on the sabbath?

Does that mean that the US Military personal in Iraq must let terrorists kill and burn down buildings on the sabbath?

NO NFL FOOTBALL?

No, I think it's okay. You see football is a game, they "play" football, they don't "work" football. I'm pretty sure it is an exception to the rule.

 :Banane30: :frog:

You have never played football.:bump2:

Billy likes his cigars. Wasn't he a Democrat?

Yawn.

Where's that dead horse at? OH, here it is...

It seems like the means justify the ends pretty well in Medveds article, which is the logic behind some of the liberal friends I have. The Ten Commandments are called the Ten Pretty Good Suggestions lol.

Personally, I like my eleventh commandment " Thou shalt not should on thyself." But you cant say that very fast as it sounds too much like something else.

I learned the hard way that living my life in eternal self criticism is a sad way to live. Thats why I like the Ten Commmandments, where nothing I think or do changes the absoluteness of something. Furthermore, thats why I love Christ, as He fulfilled the entire law for me.

Now I dont have to should on myself anymore.

I pledge not to vote for Bill Clinton for president in 2008.

Can you pledge not to vote for the adulterers running as Republicans?:faint:

There is nothing wrong with the 10 commandments if you believe that you want to control your life with them.

But no one has a right to impose the 10 commandments on anyone else. Putting them in schools and courthouses would impose the religious beliefs of some people on other people.

Only 2 of the 10 commandments are laws in most states.

And that is only because they effect someone other than the person violating the commandment.

Perhaps there is no exception to the rule for football but that's a stupid sport anyway. Now baseball... that's different. Anything is okay as long as it is baseball! Even God knows that. What would he do all day if he can't watch baseball? That's not work, that's entertainment!
I got'cha cover on that.

TOM, I do want the Ten Commandments to guide my life, and I am not the one imposing them on anyone, remember the author for the Ten Commmandments is God, they are imposed on people because we belong to Him. He has the right to impose and demand. (no offense to those who dont believe that He exist) Remember secondly, He paid a very high price for us so we are twice His.

When God comes down from Heaven and says, "I want these words in every school and courthouse" then that will be fine. But when the US government says it or the government of the state of Florida says it, that is a different story.

I trust God. I do not trust either the US government or the government of the state of Florida or the government of any other state.

After 5 years when the US government or the government of any state says, "We are going to change a couple of words here and there in these commandments. We put them up, so we can change them." Then what do you do?

That is why I and many ministers and Bishops do not want the 10 Commandments or any other religious documents in public schools or courthouses.
