    March 19 yay!!!!!!!

Well, I haven't been online in quite a while. I am down 25.75 lbs, and am very happy with it. I will admit that sometimes it has been a struggle. Not not eating as much, but not eating EMOTIONALLY. In the last three weeks my son has broken his tibia at the knee and has been put in a cast from the top of his thigh to the tip of his toes. And then my mother passed away. That has really been difficult! It wasn't a shock, she had been in very poor health, but it was a surprise when she did die. We weren't thinking it would be now. And, last but not least, we have finally moved into a house that we had to rebuild due to a house fire last November, on top of all of the other stuff. Needless to say, I will take the 26 lbs and run, and just be thankful that I haven't gained! I have missed hearing about every one. I hope you all are doing well!
  4. Who can recogmend the best protein drink/suppliment? Having surgery in exactly 1 week from today!!!!
  5. Just got on the scale, and up 4lbs from original loss, too! I am upset also, frustrated because I know I am eating less (albeit not always the wisest choices), and the scale keeps inching the wrong way!!! I know that my close are fitting me better...or some actually too big! And yet, 4 pounds! ARRRRRG
  6. I know exactly how you all are feeling! I have found Freez Ice popcycles ( I think that is the name), or other diet popcylces are just a few calories but seem to make me feel better. Also, I eat a lot of salad with fat free dressing. Another trick has been sugar free Life Savers help. I fight wanting to eat at night. That is when I have found it the hardest. Fortuately, I do have a script for Lunesta, and right now I take it every night. That way I go to sleep without thinking about food. I hope any or all of this helps someone. Hang in there! We will make this work, expecially if we keep supporting each other!!!!! Marty
  7. Yeah to all of us!!!! Laura, it was great to hear about your 2nd fill, and what the dr. said. I also, got into a pair of jeans I haven't been able to wear in quite a while. I was feeling so depressed yesterday, and that really helped! My first fill is next Thursday. I can barely wait to start the next stage of this! Keep up the great work, girls! We will get there!
  8. Hi I was banded March19th and I would really appreciate a mentor. I need guidance on eating, and the eating choices I am making. I am off all food restrictions, and basically nothing is bothering me. I now understand the people saying they can eat as much as before (or at least nearly). Help:tongue_smilie:
  9. THANK YOU!! I will try to do all the things you have suggested! I already decided today that this was just stupid. I was not going to fail at this. I appreciate the peptalk! I needed it! Marty
  10. Hey, Alliemorris, thanks for getting back to me. I am really pretty frustrated. I was banded 3/19 (self pay, too), and am waiting for my first fill on the 30th. I lost 20lbs at first, but haven't since. Actually, I am up a couple of pounds. I must admit, I have been watching what I eat, but eating what my family has been eating, just less. Heck, I don't know how to diet. That is why the h.... I am in this mess now! I know that I need to eat differently, but ........ I guess I am just feeling really down and depressed (not to mention bloated) today! Marty
  11. Thanks for the tips, guys and gals! Let's keep them coming for all of us going through this!
  12. I don't get my first fill until the 30th, but after reading so many comments about not feeling very full, I am still very concerned. I am hungry as always. Particularily at night (I have always had a problem with eating late!). I have been living on Freeze Ice pop cycles (or whatever they are called). They only have 25 cal. each. I know that they have diet ones, but I haven't seen those yet. What are some of the good things you all have found to get past those cravings?
  13. No, big momma, I don't think you are being a B.... by any means! You're right! I want to get this damn weight off! I probably need my butt kicked more often to do what I know I should be doing! THANKS!!
  14. ok, I have to admit, I can eat almost anything...and have! No wonder I haven't lost anything. I am trying to eat like the rest of the world, just less...cutting calories that way. Since I haven't lost anything since I have been on a nonrestrictive diet, I guess it's not really working for me...lol The only things I have found to really have problems with are bready things (tried a quarter of a low-fat Subway sandwich). Talk to you all soon!
  15. Oh. i did forget to mention, although I feel that the scale is being difficult, my clothes are definately fitting differently! I had to buy even bigger jeans before my surgery because I just couldn't squeeze into my other ones any more. Yesterday I took those damn jeans out of my closet for the last time! I am back into all my clothes, and that feels GREAT!
  16. Hi all! I am so relieved to read all the posts today. I was banded on the 19th of March, and lost 20lbs very quickly. But, I haven't lost and ounce (and actually have put on 2 lbs) since. I figured that the weight gain was because I am finally on solid foods, and my weight is evening out from so much water weight loss. I also seem to have some swelling over my port sight. I hope I don't have a build up of fluid there, too. That area is a little tender too. Everything else has healed perfectly!
  17. Haven't heard from you lately , how are you doing? I am down 18.5 lbs. officially from the doctor's office. They have lifted my food restrictions...YEAH!!! Hope all is well.

  18. i don't know the calorie count for sure, but I know it is a lot less than before!!!! I was also worried about starvation mode, and that was another reason I went to mushies as soon as I could. I Still do liquid at breakfast, Carnation Instant Breakfast, that way I know that I am getting some protien and such. This week I moved to eating chicken or egg salad and crackers for lunch, and then soup again for dinner. I am down 20.5lbs, so I guess it is working!
  19. there are so many things on my mind after reading all the posts. First, to all of you new banders that hurt and feel sick, please call your doctor and TAKE YOUR PAIN MEDS. My doctor had me put a patch on before surgery for nausea, and sent a prescription home with me. You don't need to feel that way. It will hurt, but it shouldn't be making you miserable. Second, I am glad to hear all these comments about how the doctors differ so much in what they want you to eat. Odiously this is not a perfect science. I started to add the things on my "mushy" list at day 9. I'm not advocating any of you do that, but for me it was the right decision. I went back to work on day 4, and really felt horrible. A little extra food really helped! And, lastly, how did you stretch out your pouch? I am so scared of doing that!!!
  20. acasner, Hang in there! It will get better, and think of the empathy you have for others because of these other rude people! I bet you never laugh or make fun of someone who is "different", for whatever reason. Know that THAT is noticed by those people and their loved ones, and instead of making them feel bad, YOU may have put a little light in their day!
  21. Congrats on yours, too! No, I am planning on starting walking Monday! We live behind a park, and I am putting on the old tennis shoes tomorrow!

  22. On this Friday I just couldn't take feeling so weak anymore, so I have tried adding a little peanut butter to my diet, and also crackers. I was worried I would mess something up, but have since figured out that I am OK. I am going to also add eggs, cottage cheese, and things like that. My doctor gave me a list that is supposed to start at week 2, but I am slowly adding those things in to my diet. My goal next week is to work all day, and to start walking. Have a great week everyone!!!!
  23. gosh, I was proud that I had gone back to work 4 days after, I am now 8 days and haven't even thought about starting to exercise! I am exhausted by the time I get home from school, and it is about all I can do to crawl into bed! As for eating, my doctor allowed yogurt, thinned mashed potatoes, diet jello, along with the liquid diet stuff, so things haven't been too bad. But I must admit, I ate some crackers today with my soup (I really made sure ther were all but gone before I swallowed...), and dang they were good! I hope you all keep doing great! I have my two week check-up next Thursday. I think that I will get to add mushy stuff then! Lets hope!!
