  1. My doctor advised out of my 4oz meal to do 3 oz protein and whatever as the last 1. He also mentioned that the bad thing with pasta is it is a slider food, so does not stay in your pouch as long as other foods so you do not retain the full feeling. Also the two times I have tried to eat rice I have gotten sick afterwords, so I am thinking it swelled up.
  2. I was 42, I was banded March 3rd, 2009.
  3. I had to pay $11,000 of the $16,000. I feel it has been a great choice and am happy with the money spent. I have lost approx 48 lbs since March 3rd, 2009. I will admit there are times (very few) that I wish I didn't have the band so I could eat all I want.....but then of course that is why I have the band. I won't tell you what to do but I am very happy with my choice. Good luck!
  4. I was banded March 3rd and have lost 49 as of today.
  5. To help not get clots my doctor advised alot of walking after surgery....for the rest of it I would talk to a good surgeon I have known people with alot of the same problems and they had the surgery and no longer have the problems.
  6. I like El Pollo Loco, I usually get two chicken legs and eat half a side salad (makes up my 4 oz and pretty low in calories). I also sometimes get 2 of their Taco El Carbons (take off one of the tortillas and right at 4oz) Carls Jr. also does any of their hamburgers carbless (wrapped in lettuce)...I sometimes get the famous star this way and very good for a treat. I also can't eat fries anymore, just about every time I have tried them they have caused a problem.
  7. I have watched it also....but missed that one. I even sent in an app to be on it. I have lost 46 lbs since March 3rd, 2009. My doctor says 1-3 lbs a week is average, the lowest weight at one of my appts. was 7 lbs for the month.
  8. Congratulations! Just follow your doctors rules and you will do great!
  9. Thanks for sharing, I have been getting like one or two a week and had no idea.... I wonder if the frozen Crystal Light at Circle K is carbonated also.
  10. I have had a problem with getting chicken stuck twice....what that taught me was to slow down, chew extremly well (which I still have problems with) and small bites (again have a hard time with). I still eat it along with steak and pork. I was banded March 3rd and just had my 4th fill and finally can only eat my 4 oz and stay full for the most part between meals. I have had a hard time since it is watermelon season with eating that in the evenings for a snack (my doctor says no snack and only 3 meals 4oz each). I have tried to stay away from slider foods and stick to my meats and a vegetable but I have had pasta a couple times. Try to stay away from the slider foods and I know it is very scary after getting something stuck and throwing up but retry eating the meats and just cut super small and chew as much as possible.
  11. I flew in April and was kinda scared going thru....I thought it would start beeping like crazy....but nothing!
  12. As with anything the Band is a tool....use it and you will loose. I have had some days where I have been not so good with my diet....but I get right back on it. Also with my last fill I finally have restriction and my body tells me when I have eaten 1 bite over my 4 oz, now I have to get myself to recogonize when that next bite is going to be the one. With saying that I am VERY HAPPY I got the lap band, I had to pay 11,000 of the cost and do not regret it for one minute.
  13. I LOVE this game. I sweat more with it than I do working out at the gym with a trainer. It is AWESOME!
  14. I am hooked on the scale also...I only weigh in the morning (well once at night too...lol). It's hard not to wake up and want to see if it has gotten any lower. Right now I am just hoping to see under 200.
  15. Congratulations! That is awesome! I am the same way with the scale...when I see a good number I am very happy. I am having an issue with the urge to weigh myself everyday ( which I know is not good) so I fight with my self everyday. But when you see a lower number it is awesome!

Congrats! I found that I got a Weight Watchers digital scale and put in the same area each time and it has been pretty acurate. My only problem is I have to fight with myself not to step on daily :-) Good Luck!
  17. Congratulations! That is so awesome!
  18. Hello, With summer and watermelon season around the corner . I know no snacking but can anyone tell me if they replace a meal with watermelon and if you stick to the 4 ounces. This will be my first summer with the band and I love watermelon so i am trying to figure out how to fit it in the right way. Thanks!
  19. I would also be interested in meeting up with other bandsters in town!
  20. I usually sleep on my stomach or left side (where the port is) day of surgery I was sleeping on my left side and a couple days after surgery I was sleeping on my stomach. Every once in a while I feel pressure but I just make a slight movement and all is good.
  21. I have the 10cc Lap Band, I let my Dr. make the choice once he got in there and decided which he thought would be best.
  22. I had to have an ekg and a chest xray...not sure why but I didn't care what I had to do to be approved for the surgery :-)
  23. I do not get a numbing shot before my fill, I have had two fills and do not find they hurt...basically a tiny prick and then nothing.
