    I need help friends

I think you should look at mushier foods and also at protein shakes to get your required 70g of protein. I ate lots of eggs and soups in the first few months, plus various protein shakes. Are you using a PPI to dampen down the acid in your stomach, that might help too. Hope it gets better for you soon. Jane x
  2. I didn't look horrible, I just looked better and better from a pretty low start point! I don't understand this comment at all?!

58 years too old for VSG?

I had mine done when I was 51. I would do the same op if I was older too, it has completely improved my quality of life, and life expectancy, so do it!!! Jane x

    Pre op diet

Hang on in there, it will be worth it. I found it hard too, but soon all that will change. Jane x
  5. Like Tiffy I had one too and it went more slowly then hers but it is completely gone now. I have a short neck so all loss from that area was so welcome, I used to look like Mr Potato Man!! Jane x
  6. Mr Tantrum will eventually pass through the terrible twos and become a well behaved member of the family, don't worry :-) Jane xx
  7. Hi, I lost all of it, mostly in the 1st 12 months, stabalising at 18 months. That was a loss of about 120lbs, close to half my body weight from preop highest. I did this by essentially eating an Atkins type diet which worked very well for me. So don't let your doctor worry you. Jane xx
  8. Wow, and your skin looks really taut too, really well done. Jane x
  9. 1. I have heard of a few but I was lucky and was OK. 2. Yes you can eat anything, just in small amounts when your stomach has healed completely. Good luck. Jane x
  10. In the 6 months from the day of my op I lost 56lbs so you are doing really well. Jane x

    Sickly

Hi Yes I think I was, although now I think all is OK. I had to abandon a 6 month contract half way through as I was so continually ill with infections one after the other. I think the drastic weight loss deplete your bodies resources and leaves you open to attack, and this was despite taking supllements and Vitamins etc!

    Near goal

I maintain on 1,800, how does anyone live on 600 cals a day. That's the intake of Japanese POWs!! When you have fat reserves it's fine but when you are pared down it is unsustainable! What does your doctor suggest NtvTxn?

    Menstrual Cup?

I had a moon cup for quite a while and was very pleased with it. I am past all that now but if i was younger I would always go for this. good for holidays too, saves trying to find tampax in remote places!! Jane x

    cholesterol levels

I hope your cholesterol levels drop just from the sleeve so you can stop the statins. They are not so harmless as they are made out to be. I had my cholesterol levels tested after about a 18 months from my VSG, and bear in mind I had been eating 2 eggs at least a day for a year at that point, plus red meat and cheese. My level was 4.2, HDL = 1.7, LDL = 2.2 which is pretty good. But at the end of the day I think it's your particular genetic make up that determines your levels. Jane x
  15. Hi Ouro, nice to hear from you and really glad you had a ball in Hawaii. we are off to Miamin in a month and I hope we have as much fun as you seem to have had. Sounds like your life has improved loads, and I am really pleased for you. Jane x

    Swimsuit Season

Hi Patti I had twins too. I am loads older (52) but as I lost weight I rediscovered my 'twins tum' which i had forgotten about as it was filled out with fat. It's not too bad though, more vertical creases and sagging round the navel. I wear tankinis in public and a bikini if I am with close friends and family and its private. Still better being thin though!! Jane x

    long term sleevers

Jeffrey, All is good, i will be 2 years out from the op in May. I am very happy with the op and the results. I am nearly 53 now but I feel 10 years younger. Maintaining is easy and I think getting the VSG was one of the best decisions of my life. Jane x

    1 year out

That is a wonderful story and I am so glad your life is so improved. My story is similar, apart from the skydiving and running that is! The sleeve is a wonderful tool to enable people to control their food intake. Good for you and i wish you a long, happy and healthy life
  19. I am maintaining on around 1,800 cals a day. I arrived at this figure using the daily plate and it seems to be pretty accurate. A typical days food is:- Breakfast - 2 large eggs boiled with one slice of brown bread toast with butter 11ish - Cappuchino Atkins bar lunch - half a sandwich from whatever place is near the client I am with that day Afternoon - the other half of the sandwich(!) dinner - Beef stroganoff with broccoli + too much red wine, ashamed to post the actual amount All day i hyrate with tea or diet coke. I don't have a problem with fizzy drinks now. I am happy on this regime. I try to walk a few times a week too but the weather here in the UK is pants at the moment. Jane x

    Secret Sleevers

Tiff I agree with all you said. One question, how do you spot someone who has had WLS? What are the signs and give aways? Jane x

    YES!

Congrats, you are doing wonderfully. Jane x

    Is it possible?

I understand the fear, in fact even now I am scared of all the weight coming back. Even though I struggle to get 1,800 calories in to maintain my weight. If it wasn't for my slightly excessive boozing I would probably be 10lbs lighter. But I can't afford to buy another set of clothes so I am going to try to stay where I am. Weight loss is never linear and if you are eating Protein and being more active because you aren't so heavy you will be substituting muscle for fat, which is much denser, Muscle and fat so these stalls happen but they are not a bad thing. The extra muscle will then cause you to use more calories and cause a weight loss spurt. So you get a step profile as your weight loss continues. Bottom line, make sensible food choices, try to be as active as possible and you will succeed. Jane x

    Will I feel weak?

No you very likely feel weak now as you are carrying around another person essentially on your back! I found if I kept my cal intake between 800 and 1200 all was well, personally i would err towards the 1200 mark as your body is more fooled at this level. Jane xx
