  1. Emma, it's probably nothing but it's always worth asking your doctor, especially if you feel breathless, in which case you should go to A&E. I had all sorts of pains afterwards and my hypochondriac mind played all sorts of tricks on me, but it is better to be safe rather than sorry. Jane x
  2. Ha you should try the UK! It's only September and I am already wearing thermal socks and layers of jumpers!! And weirdly when I do get warm finally it quickly tips into being too hot. My internal thermostat is so confused. Worst thing is the cold nose though, I am thinking of inventing a woolly nosewarmer and marketing them on eBay. Jane x :wink1::wink1: Brrrrrrr.....
  3. Hi Ninaboo, tell the doctor is you wish, but the time you have is way enough to deplete your liver of glycogen, which will decrease its size enormously. Many people have this op with no preop diet at all so don't worry too much. Jane x
  4. Tiff. we are about at the same point in the process and I 100% agree with you. I am older than you so the baby thing is way past me and I wish you all the luck in the world with this, if anyone deserves this happiness you do darling. I am continually impressed by your willingness to help others, you are a treasure. Jane x
  5. Its slow at first give it time. Jane x
  6. Emma, really glad it went well. Look forward to hearing how you get on now. I will be travelling to Dublin more now as one of my daughters just started at Trinity so maybe I can buy you a low cal guinness when your tum has healed  Jane x

  9. Orobourous that was a fantastic post, well done you. Jane x PS Where is the underpants pic??
  10. It's early days and post op many people feel depressed and negative whatever the operation. Just keep calm and hold your nerve, it will work out well and you will look back on this soon and not understand what the problem was. Be kind to yourself, you have been through a lot and are trying to do your best for yourself and your loved ones. You would not have done this if you could have lost it any other way. We all have done diets and put it all back on time after time. You have bravely cut through that circular behaviour and sorted it once and for all. At your age you have a fantastic future ahead of you with kids and energy to deal with them. It's all good, you just don't realise it yet. Be steady and hold on. Jane x
  11. Very good advice from Pumpkin07. this is serious and needs to be adressed as soon as possible. I don't know how the US system works but in the UK I would ask my GP for a referral to anotehr surgeon. Let us know how you get on please, we are worried for you. Jane x

Anyone in here from the UK ?

Hi and welcome. I am in the UK too, in Bucks. I had mine done privately in the Czech Republic in May 2009. I have been very happy with the outcome. I didn't even attempt the NHS route as I wanted it done quickly and I had a spare ?5K luckily. Jane x

    Diet Coke

I drink it too, in the early days I had to defizz by blowing into it via a straw. I avoided for the 1st 2 months though as I did not want to put any pressure on my staple line until I was sure it had healed completely. Jane x
  14. We eat Bambi here in the UK so the smoked reindeer meat sounds great, do they sell it in Ikea? Horse is much rarer here, but I have had it on holiday in France, it's OK but I prefer cow fillet. Jane x
  15. I am sorry you are having a bad time. I had the same op and have not had any of these difficulties. It sounds like you are having the side effects of a bypass not a sleeve, which is weird. I take vitamin suppliments including sublingual B12 and do not need any shots or amy medication at all. I think you need to go back to your doctors as your experience does not sound right at all. Dehydration is dangerous and you need the surgeon to take your problems seriously, or change doctor. I researched the ops myself and believe me this is a far better option than the band or doing nothing for me anyway. Jane x

    ulcers?

Hi Songbird, no sorry not that I know of. What is the doctor doing about it? I hope it goes soon, you are so close to goal too. Were you taking PPIs? Have they tested for helibactor? Jane x

I know it won't bring world peace but ...

Hi Globie, am back now. I completely agree with you. I wanted to get all this and maybe have guys look at me again, I mean really look not just look. It has made my life so much better in all ways. And I am now really healthy too, touch wood. It's great to be accepted in society as a normal member, at least till I open my mouth that is. Jane x

    Too skinny anyone?

Hi, I find it easy to control my weight having got to goal. To stay the same I should eat around 1,800 cals a day. This is not a hard target with a stmach capacity of around 125-150cc and life is a breeze. If I want to lose I just go for solid protein food which fills me for ages and I Atkins diet the way down. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!!!! Jane x

    Sleeve Eve...

Hi Vixie, look forward to you joining us on the losers bench. You will be amazed at the difference the sleeve makes. Good choice!! Jane x
  20. Good luck and get back to us soon. Jane x
  21. Finally! I am 133lbs!! Total time including the 2 months prior to the op dieting was 17 months to lose 118lbs although from my very heaviest before I started logging I was 256lbs which means a loss of 123lbs. I only claim the 118 figure though as I can totally verify this one. It has been a great journey and I thank all the people here who have helped, from my lurking days nearly a year and a half ago to now. I wish MacMadame was still here as she was a great help to me back then when I was researching the route to take. I wish all of you still losing all speed to get to your goals too, and enjoy the changes in you as they happen. And don't forget to tell us all about it!! Mucho happiness. Jane xx
  22. Hi Papillon, congratz and welcome to both of you. Jane x
