  1. G'day Sherri,

how ya doin? I seem to be getting my hunger back..... worried this is not good. i don't seem to have lost much weight this week :( maybe 2.2lbs or 1kg) Hmmm i wonder if they will give me my first fill in another two weeks. This is why i didn't want to tell many people in case i don't loose much. (except my mum seems to have told lots of people for me in her excitment) I wonder if this is normal to not loose much... i'm going to look thru the threads or start one and see.

let me know how you are doing

  2. Hi Meri,

it has been two weeks since my surgery and i'm feeling great!! I have been on mushies since day 9 as everything was going through me, so the dietician thought if i ate it would help and it did. The only thing that worries me now is i seem to be getting my hunger back. This is the menu they told me to follow...I eat 2 weet-bix (or oats) for brekky, 1/4 cup of purree fruit and a 1/4 cup of low fat yogurt for morning tea. Half a cup of blended meat and veg for lunch and again at dinner, 1/4 cup puree fruit and a diet dairy dessert for afternoon tea and same as morning tea for supper. Plus coffee and water through the day. Not to bad. Except this week i think if i'm lucky i will only have lost 1kg (2.2lbs) So as much as i love the fact i can eat... i would like to be loosing a bit more weight. Maybe they will give me a fill by week 4... I think they told me they like us to be able to eat normally be for they start doing fills. i see the dietician in another week.

  3. hey Kylie,

i went on chat earlier and no one was there... checked back a min ago and saw u had been and gone, lol. I have been put onto mushies already cause the dietician thinks it muight help in stopping everything going straight thru me... yum it has been nice. But i feel like i'm doing something bad after have liquids for so long, lol.

    catch u on chat soon

  4. G'day Terry,

I totally understand the not being able to sleep well. I'm only just starting to be able to roll in bed with out moaning (lol) and it's day 10. Thankfully the pain has finally gone down to just a small bit. i have started puree food as the dietician thought it might help the fact every thing is going through me so fast.

After having a weet-bix for brekky, some very thick blended chicken and veg soup for lunch and yogurt with some puree apple today, i am still finding things moving through very fast. but i'm hoping it slows down over the next few days. I can't believe i ate all that, it was really nice, buti almost felt guilty after not having much for so long. I did the shake diet for two weeks leading up to the band. Oh and i am having coffee again which i didn't have on the pre op diet. How long till you get to try food?

I think you are amazing getting it done as a young Granny.... you Go girl!!!!

    Banded Yesterday - This hurts!

finally it is day 10 post op!!!! Horray i have made it through the worst. I am soooo happy to have made it to here.... guess what wouldn't you know the pain is almost all gone. I'm off pain meds mostly and can almost get a good nights sleep. (breath a sigh of relief) I hadn't read about how you can't sleep any where except your back lol. That was not fun. I also haven't really worn a bra for the 10 days cause i only had wire ones and it dug into one of my sores, but thats alright now too. But i do have one question..... I am aloud to eat Puree food but.... everything seems to go straight through me :tongue_smilie: not nice. So much so that i would be too scared to eat around others in case i had to make a mad dash to the loo. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if anyone knows how long it last? Really hoping it will go soon
  6. G'day, turns out i can start puree food now. The dietitian calls today day 9 (day of surgery day1) and as everything has been going straight through me she said starting puree might help that. So i had some oatmeal for brekky and after about four teaspoons i am feeling full and wondering when it will go through the band. Hope it dosen't make band slip. (yes i know i am very paranoid about that happening) I can also have puree fruit and even meat and veg blended to a thick soup consistancy.

Let me know how ur first thicker foods go.

    Trace.

P.s today is the first day i have felt i have really turned a corner with the pain although i still feel it, it's not as bad... YAY

  8. today is day 9 for me, (counting the day of surgery as day 1) Finally i feel like i have turned a corner and am feeling a lot better. I saw my nutritionist yesterday and she said i can start on puree food such as porridge (oatmeal) She wanted me to start now as everything was going through me and so she thought somthing thicker might help. So very nervously i tried my oatmeal for brekky and i think i got 4 teaspoons down and now i am feeling very full... waiting for it to go down properly. She then said i could have quarter of a cup of puree fruit for morning tea and half a cup of blended lean chicken or meat or seafood with vegis for lunch as long as it is soup consistancey. Hmmm bit nervous might give lunch a go a dinner.

surely u can have puree fruit now?

    let me know

  9. Hi Kam,

Just thought i would write you and see how you are doing after your op? I haven't coped well with the pain but i think i am glad i had it done lol. Actually i am glad cause i am loosing weight, i'm just very scared that my band will slip as i don't think i could go through another op again.

Today is day 6 for me and i am so glad that the first week is almost out of the way. 2morrow i will update my ticker as it will be 7 days post op, nice to see the scales showing gradually nicer numbers, lol.

let me know how you r doing

    Trace.

  10. G'day Jade,

How have you been since the surgery? I didn't cope with the pain very well, but as it is now day 6 for me I am very glad i have got this far. I went home from hopital the day after surgery and was in a lot of pain, after a sleepless night and crying to my hubby i want it out, i was readmitted to hospital and given pain meds. (what a relief) Since then it has only got better thankgoodness, lol. Now that the weight is strting to come off... I'm feelin it might just be worth it lol.

  11. Hi Kylie,

I'm doing o.k and very glad the first week is almost over. i found it tough and the pain in the first few days almost unbearable. But now it is day 6 and i'm doing a lot better.

How are you going? Are you nervous about starting the mushie stage? Stepping on the scales hasn't been quite so scary, lol and i'm loving that :)

    Trace.

  12. G'day Michelle,

I'm doing o.k Today is day 6 post op and all i can say is i hope i never have to do that again. I think i would freak out if my band slipped as i really struggled with the pain post op. (see thread Banded yesterday it hurts) However now that the weight is starting to come off and the pain is getting less i feel so much better. How are you doing? Although i'm not hungry i still crave biting into some meat and potatos.... although the thought also scares me. I'm guessing i still have a week to go before i have to face mushies. I go to my dietictian 2morrow and then i will update my ticker.

    chat soon Trace.

    Crushing Pills

I was banded 3 days ago and yes i have been needing to crush pills too, lol. My hubby just said to say that "crushing the pills beteween two tablespoons works well." He has been crushing mine that way and it works. Doesn't make the taste any better though, lol.
  14. Hi Sherry, i have been reading your progress on the thread "banded today it hurts" lol. I decided to add to that one cause i finally felt like someone was saying how i felt. It's late here and i am writing while i am waiting for my pain meds to kick in so i can fall asleep. Each day is getting easier and i'm sure just when it seems to be o.k we will be told we can try mushy food, lol. As much as i want to i'm in no rush to see what it is like. Although i did chew on a bit of steak my hubby had cooked for his dinner and got the flavour and spat it out today. (very scary cause imagine if i had swallowed, lol.) hope ur going well, Trace.xx

  15. Hi Malissa, i hope ur feeling better then me, lol. I really feel like it was quite painful and the wind pain really hurts. Today is day 3 for me and it is getting a little better. It is also the first day i have managed to drink more then 200ml in a day. I think i managed to drink 550ml which included some sustagen (nutritional milk drink), a little watery pumpkin soup and some pineapple juice. How are you doing? and how much are you able to drink?

    Banded Yesterday - This hurts!

after being re admitted to hospital for the unbearable pain i now have some stronger pain med and finally feel like there just might be light at the end of the tunnel. Sorry if my previous post scared anyone but i wanted it to be the truth. Whatever you do just make sure you go home with good pain meds and you will make it through. Turns out the Dr had grazed my rib and caused a bit of a herorreage, so this was adding to my pain and after yelling at my husband that i want this band out... i'm now willing to keep going. Like i said "marvellous how good pain meds help." I'll keep u posted on my honest journey.

    Banded Yesterday - This hurts!

I was banded yesterday too. And yes it HURTS a lot!!!!!! From the moment i opened my eyes. Not fun at all, i can only hope it does get better. Burping kills, my shoulders kill... and of cause where they put the band hurts. Trying to drink with out making more burps aint easy. There is no where comfortable to lay, stand of sit. Oh my goodness i think i'm a big wimp too. I just wish i could sleep the next week away... but as it's not possible i guess i will be shufferling and wimpering.

I totally can make it through these next 6 days on the shake diet because i can see the end in site.
