  1. I also have Cigna insurance and I am so scared I wont be approved. I have a BMI of 52% with bilateral leg swelling when standing, and take medicine.I guess I am wondering if anyone with a BMI over 50% had trouble with insurance? I also have hypertension. I work for a hospital and have been doing my classes with the facility because everyone in town goes here for their classes. I am having my last class in on 4/16 and went ahead and scheduled my surgery around 5/23, due to my surgeon taking alot of vacations. Has anyone had issues with Cigna and needing more than 2 health issues if your BMI is over 50? I am a worry wart.

I think with a BMI of 50+ you don't NEED the 2 co-morbidities. I would guess you'd be approved based on your bmi and health reasons as they are.

I had a BMI of about 51 with hypertension and diabetes.

  2. Thanks for all the concern.

My doctor is fine with oranges and juices. I drink diet juices and she has even recommended them. I don't really have any problems with acid or reflux, luckily, unless I forget to take my Prilosec.

My gallbladder was removed at the same time as my sleeve surgery.

Saw the doc today and she has ordered and endoscopy to check for a stricture. Hopefully will have that in the next 7-10 days.

  3. way to go 8/6! :)

I had surgery on 10/31/12 with Dr Bautista at St Mary's. My recovery was very rough and there are still days/times I regret the surgery. I throw up a few times a week I think from eating too quickly. I also think I may have a stricture forming, but am not sure.

So far I have lost about 55 pounds since surgery. I'm down 77-78 pounds from my high weight. I usually don't see it myself but my friends and family notice, so that's nice. I notice occasionally, but usually still see the same fat person in the mirror. I still have a long way to go!

  4. I don't know what's going on. After my release from the hospital things have been ok. I did have occasional vomiting, but I know it was due to eating too quickly. However, this weekend things changed. I have been nauseaous since Sunday around noon and all day Sunday I couldn't keep anything (even water) down. Yesterday I managed Water, the juice of an orange and some crackers. But, still felt nauseaous the entire time.

Today I've had two bites of oatmeal and sips of Water. In addition to the nausea I feel almost like there's a ball in my chest. It's very hard to explain this sensation, not fullness, not hunger, just an awkward tightness I can't get rid of. I take prilosec every morning, I don't think this is related to reflux.

I'm scared it's some sort of complication. :( I have a follow-up appointment with the nurse practitioner at my surgeon's office next Thursday, but that seems so far away at this point.

  5. I'm stalled out still. I lost another couple pounds then it just stopped. I'm just frustrated. I know I shouldn't be this early out and I guess my expectations are just too high.

I keep hoping that it's my body gearing up for that time of the month, I always kind of retain Fluid and all that jazz. But, nothing comes! lol.

Back at work now and it's sedentary and all I want to do is snack even though I'm not hungry! So, hopefully that's another indication of my period coming, that emotional eating.

  6. I'm one month post op and had to have a long hospital stay because of nausea. Is yours worse in the morning? My doc said to take Zyrtec or the like before bed to help with mucus draining into my small empty tummy. So far that's helped me some!

Also was told to start the day with a warm liquid before anything else to open everything up.

  7. I had surgery 10/31 and lost 23 pounds in the first two weeks. I was ecstatic! Now, in the two weeks since then I've only lost 4 pounds and I'm, obviously, not happy.

I know I'm not meeting my goal of 50-60 grams Protein and all of my liquids. I'm trying each day though. I'm still on mushies and lots of food gets stuck.

What's going on? Please tell me the weight loss will pick up some! Not askin for ten pounds a week, but this isn't working!

  8. My surgery was 10/31 and awful. Surgery was ok but recovery was not. I had extreme nausea and could not keep anything down. I was at the hospital for 4 nights. Been home now since Sunday. Can't get all of my Protein and fluiDs in and am battling head hunger but not real hunger. Feeling regretful and depressed now.

  9. No, no exercise. I barely have the energy to take care of my daughter, let alone run 3 miles. lol. So, I applaud you! Work and taking care of the house are consuming all energy-stores I have.

Just think it's odd that others lose so much on the same pre-op (without excercise) and I'm losing next to nothing. I know everyone's different. Just feeling disappointed.

  10. I'm into my second week of my pre-op diet. Here's a daily menu: Meal Replacement shake for Breakfast, another for lunch plus a light yogurt or fat-free cottage cheese, a large salad with 4 oz lean Protein for dinner (no corn, potatoes, starchy vegs) and sometimes a final snack of a sugar-free popsicle.

However, since I started 9 days ago I've only lost 2 pounds. I cheated once with 5-6 whole wheat crackers and Peanut Butter. That was last weekend. Since then I've kept to it. And, I really thought I'd have lost a lot more weight. I see others talking about losing 10-15 pounds during their pre-op diets.

What's going on? This is depressing and scary. If I can't lose weight with this, how is the surgery going to help?
