  1. Hi Shelly, I haven't been on the site much lately. Happy Bandiversary to you as well. As for me, I have also lost 40lbs and the weight loss is creeping. The good thing though is, I haven't gained any weight. I had my last fill in January. Between Jan and June I had barely no weight loss. In June I had a complete unfill. Come to find out, my band was too tight and the pouch above the band had gotten a little bigger than what the Dr. would like. I was unfilled and given medication to help shrink my stomach back down. I will go back in 3 weeks for another fill.

  2. I'm soooooo happy to hear from you. Actually, I have lost @35 lbs as well and the weight loss seems to have completely stopped. I exercise regularly and the weight doesn't seem to be going anywhere now. I'm not getting another fill until Jan. I'm going out of the country for 2 weeks in Nov. and I don't want to be tooo tight.

I have pretty decent restriction, just no weight loss.

    I understand how u feel.

  4. I work for the state as an investigator/surveyor of healthcare facilities.

  5. Are you a RN? I am too.

  6. Congrats on getting the band.

  7. Congrats on making the decision to get the band. I've been banded @ 5mths and the experience has been great. My starting weight was close to yours. I was at 238. I'm satisfied with my progress thus far. Look forward to seeing your progress.

  8. Hi Shelley, I know I haven't posted in a while. There are so many things going on right now. My laptop died and I had to get another one. So, now I'm back online.

My 3rd fill was a disaster:thumbdown:. I was entirely too restricted. I went 2 days without being able to eat or drink ANYTHING:sad:. I was miserable. I went back to the doctor on July 1 to have the band loosened. Some of the saline was taken out and I was back to eating again.

I'm doing much better now. I'm sure I've lost more weight since June 29th. People are noticing and I'm getting lots of compliments. I'm happy with my progress. Hope to be under 200 real soon.:smile2:

I know the wedding in April will be great. I like your new avatar.

  9. Hi Shelley, all is well with me. I had my third fill today (6/29) and boy am I restricted. I have lost 27.5 lbs. The weight loss has slowed but is still coming off. Therefore, I can't complain. How'd your third fill go?

  10. have you had surgery yet. I was banded 2/25/09

  11. You look amazing. Congratulations on your success. I think exercise makes a big difference in how the body looks during weight loss (even though the amount of weight lost is about the same for those who exercise and those who do not exercise). I, like you, exercise 3-4 days/week. I love exercise especially now that the weight is coming off. Can't wait to see more of your success photos.

  12. I eat meat, veggies, beans, very few carbs. I'll have crackers with broccoli/cheese soup or other soups. I eat alot of salad, dk green lettuce, spinach, tomatos, feta.

For breakfast I'll have one egg (sometimes with cheese), 1 piece of turkey sausage or turkey bacon, an occasional bowl of grits with butter and cheese (yummy).

I can eat desserts: cookies, cake, ice cream, small portions though (1 cookie, a small slice of cake).

No fast food, french fries, sweet potatoes, bread (rolls, biscuits), no burgers or hotdogs on the bun.

Tuna works well. I can eat fish like salmon, flounder and red snapper but only small amounts. And, I can eat 1-2 slices of thin crust pizza (whoooopeee!)

For the most part I can eat most anything I want just small amounts. The type of food I choose determines the amount of it I can eat. Wishing you the best

  13. Hi Shelley, thanks for checking in on me. Everything went well with my 2nd fill. I only got a small fill though @ 0.5cc. My doc says I'm already at the "sweet spot" (losing 1-2lbs/week). I have a good amount of restriction. I had a terrible episode with french fries about a week ago. I know I can't have it but I still want it.

I also had a horrible episode with trying to take a vitamin tablet yesterday. It was horrendous. Back to liquid vitamins for me. The gummies are ok too.

    Glad your mammo went well.

On 4/25, was down 21lbs. Haven't weighed since then. I try not to weigh but once a month. I think I'd get frustrated if I weighed more frequently than that. My 16s are getting really loose now. I'm beginning to try things I've never done before. The confidence boost with the weight loss is awesome.:smile2:

I didn't intend to write a novel. Chat with you soon.

  14. Hi Tawanda

The week of clears was horrible for me. I live on popsicles and water. In the afternoons I would have chicken broth, and I hated it. The week of full liquids was much better. I ate tomato soup and broccoli and cheese soup. As the weeks go by you will start to feel much better.

  15. That's cool, you can wear a size L. I would be happy, ecstatic even with that type of progress. I anxiously look forward to the day.

When I was first banded, I couldn't eat cake. Now I can eat small pieces with no problem. Not a big cake fan though.

I go for a second fill next week.

Hope everything goes well with your mammogram.

  16. Real soon you'll see the weight coming off and you'll began adjusting to life with the band. It's really not bad as a matter of fact, it's the best decision I've made.

  17. Oh, I see you are going to be banded on 4/13. How are you doing so far? I remember feeling like crap 2 days postop. Hope everything goes well for me. I was banded on 2/25/09.

  18. I choose not to tell my family/friends either until after I had the procedure. I just didn't want to hear anyone say "You don't need the band." Although I was in the 230s and wore sz18, I looked smaller. I knew in my heart of heart that I needed to do something drastic to loose the weight and I knew the lapband was a viable option for me. Plus, I had the support of my husband and that was all that mattered.

You have to know what's best for you and go for it. It's been almost 2 months since I was banded. I've lost 18 lbs. I feel great. I'm soooooooooo happy with my decision. Wishing you all the best.

  19. I can't eat french fries either. Only watch my family and coworkers eat them. It's not so bad though. There's alot of other foods I like that I can eat like thin crust veggie pizza (my weekend treat):smile2: I'm loving the weight loss. I can feel it. I can see it.

Oh yea, I can be very creative with clothing. I have a few basic bottoms (black, brown, blue) and I just change the top and accessories. It looks like a whole different outfit. Good thing, tops are usually not very expensive.

I love the summer and can't wait to get to the beach. I'll probably still wear my fat suits this summer but next summer . . . ohhhhhhh the possibilities!:rolleyes2: Do you go to the beach?

    Thanks for conversing with me.

    Dionne

  20. Tracey, I'm glad you're doing so well. I'm into my 16s as well. I wear alot of suits to work which are 18s. They are very loose but I still wear them (for right now) because they are also quite expensive.

Last week I was on a 7day hiatus from exercise. I was afraid I wasn't going to loose any weight. I was very happy to learn that I'd lost 1lb. The other thing is, 2 weeks after my first fill, I can eat more food but I'm hungry all the time (it seems like). It's weird, I know. I can eat a whole salad. I ate mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese from Boston Market. I had about a tablespoonful of each and my stomach hated it. Like, it feels as if it doesn't want to go down even after 30 minutes on the elliptical and 20oz of liquid. I'll think twice before I eat that again.

Thanks for listening to my bantering. Update me on your progress whenever you can.

    I've also lost 18lbs.:smile2:

  21. My doc said the ave. person reaches the sweet spot with @6-7ccs in the band. You probably have a 10cc band and not 10cm.

  22. I'm glad everything went well with your fill. I can't believe it seems we are progressing almost exactly the same. I have @3ccs in my band. I am doing good with foods. My food choice determines how much of it I can eat. For example, I made lentil soup on Saturday. It goes down easy and I can eat 2 bowls. If I try to eat meat, I can only eat 2-3 bites. Oh and I love the fact that I can eat thin crust vegetarian pizza. I reserve that for my weekend treat.

How about you? I know you're on liquids for 24hours. How is that going? How much weight have you lost?

  23. Hi Shelly,

Yes I can feel a good amount of restriction since the fill. It didn't have to be done under fluro (thank goodness). I did liquids for the day after. I had broccoli and cheese soup. I ate about 1/2 cup. that was all I could consume. I just really not very hungry most of the time. I have not weighed since the fill but I can feel the weight loss in the way my clothes fit. Let me know how your fill goes.

  24. hello Mercedes, how are you?
