  1. Doodlebug, I am so very sorry to hear about the your breathing problems and the bacteria that causes ulcers? I am speechless, I am a registered nurse and I can tell you that I have not heard of this one. I was looking forward to chatting with you after our bandings. Don't give up the ship yet, your next visit could prove to be positive and you will go to surgery as planned.

I am into day 18 of the 21 day liquid diet. I don't know how much weight I've lost but I know my britches are getting loose. I am packed for the hospital and have 3 more days of this liquid diet.

I will pray that things work out for you, keep in touch, Lighterload (Janet)

  2. Hey baylorjai, thanks so much for the well wishes, I am as ready as I can be, bag is packed and I almost feel lik I shoudl go sit in the truck and wait for Wednesday...LOL

The pre Op diet is tough, I won't lie to you but you can do it, like I have. The first couple days I was wondering what I got myself into but I am as strong willed as I can be so I just focused on my job, being the best nurse I could be and before I knew it, I was well into the 14th day. If I can do it anyone can, its all about committment and what's most important to ones self. I will drop you a line when I get home from the hospital and let you know the details. I took 2 weeks off work so I will have plenty of time for this site. Lighterload

  3. Hey baylorjai,

Just keeping in touch. I am 4 days out from surgery and I am so excited. Day 18 of the pre Op clear liquid diet and I am ready for something more. I am scheduled for surgery at 6am Wednesday morning. Not scared one bit and I guess that's because I'm a nurse and I have had several surgeries already. Wishing you well, keep in touch, Lighterload

  4. Hey DB, Good to hear from you. I am glad you got the last email I resent. I am doing OK, at last check I was down 41 lbs and that was the weight at my fill. I am not a scale jumper so I have no clue as to my total loss now. I won't know until I go back to the surgeon on June 6th. He does not like his patients getting the scale all the time, he says it can be discouraging. I do not feel much restriction from my first fill and it was not a fun experience. I am going to ask the surgeon if he can really put a restriction on me come June 6th.

The weather here in AZ is warming up quickly so I will be in the pool real soon doing those laps.

I seem to be able to eat just about anything except cottage cheese and bread, so I am pleased.

Hope you are feeling well and losing.

Get back to you next weekend. Lighterload

  5. Hey DB, I am praying for you and know tomorrow is your big day. You will be fine, just a bit sore for the first week. Now that I am 12 days post Op. I feel wonderful and I am still not hungry but I eat as directed.

I can't wait to hear your story, when you feel able. Best wishes and my prayers are with you- Lighterload

  6. Hey DB,

Fabulous to hear from you again. Great to hear you are doing so well. I go for my second fill on Wednesday and I am hoping he fils me up tight. I have been exercising with my stationary bike and now been in my pool as its been over 100 degrees here for the past two weeks now. I should be down about 50 lbs now but will know for sure when I see the Surgeon on Wednesday. I will let you know. Have not started the new job yet still in the 12 step interview process. They make you interview with every director when your are applying for a director position, so I should be coming close to the end of the list soon. Time will tell, if its meant to be it will happen, if not I still have a job.

Keep in touch and keep up the good work- Lighterload

  7. Hey DB,

I was so glad to hear you are doing better, I was worried about you. Absolutely, you can use me as your guide, anytime.

I lost 21 lbs. on the 3 week pre Op liquid diet. Exactly a pound a day. Then I went for banding, was home for 13 days and had my post op appointment. I had lost another 11 lbs, totaling 32 lbs. I see my surgeon on 4/28 for my first fill and he is aggressive, I believe I will have a fill of about 5 cc.

I was swollen for about a week, then things statred turning around, the swelling went down, the soreness subsided and I was feeling normal again. It does take a good week to stablize. I have been out running and shopping for the past week so I bounced back quickly. I go back to work Monday and I am ready, I have all this excess energy.

You take it easy and give yourself some time to bounce back, the worst part is over, the rest is willpower and determination.

    Keep in touch- Lighterload

  8. Hey DB,

I was so happy to hear from you. I am grateful all is going well for you right now other than being a bit sore. It does get better believe me. I am sure its not as bad as you thought it would be, huh?

I saw my surgeon yesterday for my 2 week post op visit. He was pleased that I have lost a total of 32 lbs now. I go back to see him on 4/28 for my first fill. I am able to eat soft food and I have no restriction on the band but I am really not hungry most of the time. It took me a good week to feel normal again. You will be back to normal in no time at all. Thanks for letting me know how things went for you- Lighterload

  9. Hey DB,

Is your surgery stilled planned for next week? I am 10 days post Op and I have to tell you, it was not that bad at all. I was vomiting for two days post op but its been all up hill since. Lost 21 lbs pre surgery on that 21 day liquid diet. I see my surgeon on Tuesday so I am anxious to see how much more I have lost. keep in touch- Lighterload

  10. Hey DB,

Its Lighterload. I am so sorry I have not been in contact with you, my life has turned upside down and I was having a difficult time digesting it all. I had to have my LapBand replaced as I had a defective leaking port- could only happen to me, so I had the surgery yesterday. Lost 60 lbs so far.

Next case, I lost my job on Monday of this week- I was forced into FMLA and on disability- this hit me like a ton of bricks and they were so condesending in the way they let me go, They basically said, fill out the FMLA form and leave the clinic. I cried for 3 days, could not believe after 24+ years to be treated so poorly. The reason for the disability is my doctors are trying to rule out MS. I have some sort of progressive lower limb Neurologic deficit. So this is my drama.

How are you doing? And you have lost how much weight so far?

I promise to try to keep in touch better now that my life has landed.

    Take care, Lighterload

  11. Hey DB,

Went for my first fill. That was not fun. My surgeon could not find the port and probed and poked me 13 times with an 18g needle before he found the port and was able to do the fill. I am so bruised and sore. He told me it would not be like that again as he measured and marked where the port is, in my records. I am down 41 pounds now and feel great except for the sore tummy. Wishing you well, Lighterload

  13. Hey Doodlebug,

I am so glad you are doing OK and are now back to work. I am sorry getting back in the groove of work was tough on you. I have an office job as Nurse Manager so it was not bad for me other than being backed-up for 2 1/2 weeks. It took me a full week to get caught up. I am fine now. I go tomorrow for my first fill and full set of labs, then off to work to host a Corporate meeting for 12 at my clinic. It will be another busy day. I like it busy, I never have time to even think about food.

Yes, I do know where Gila Bend is and I live in out in the desert like that too. I live way east of Phoenix near the mountains.

It was super hearing that you are doing so well. Keep in touch and I will look forward to hearing from you on the weekends. I know its tough for me to get on line during the week too, with work.

Take care and will chat soon, Lighterload

  14. Hey girl,

Glad to hear you surgery was moved up. By now you are home recovering. Hope all is going well.

I have not been to this site for weeks, had a death in the family and they are now believing that the pain in my hip, that I have had for almost 2 years is caused by a compressed nerve so off to a Neurologist in 2 weeks. Sure hope thay can fix this, I refuse to live on Narcotics.

Down 56 lbs. now and moving toward my thrid fill.

    Keep in touch, Lighterload

  15. Hey GitsMardi,

How are things going for you?

I have 4 days until surgery and I will be so glad to get something more than clear liquids. I have been doing my clear liquid pre Op diet for the past 18 days. It was tough but I survived without cheating even once. I am packed and ready for the hospital, actually looking forward to the 2 week recovery time I took off work. Keep in touch, Lighterload

  16. Hey GitsMardi,

Good to hear from you. Sounds like you are doing fabulous, Congratulations! I go for my first fill this Tuesday, looking forward to it. I am down 38 pounds now and I have never felt better. Rewarded myself with a new truck!

    Keep in touch- Lighterload

  17. Hey jai jai,

Well its all over, I am now 12 days post Op and feeling fabulous. I hadf lost 21 lbs on the 21 day pre Op liquid diet and I bet I have lost another 10 or better since surgery. I see my surgeon on Tuesday and I am so anxious to find out my total loss to date. I have one more week off work, have to get out and buy a recumbant bike for my exercise routine since walking is out of the question for me. I have a crumbled right hip and walk with a cane or use the motorized w/c. I do have a pool but its a bit too cool to swim yet, so the bike will be great until I can use the pool. Hope you are doing well- Lighterload

  18. Hey Socalfosh,

Good to hear from you. I have not been on LBT in weeks either as my internet went out. I live way out in the desert in AZ so this is the only high speed ISP we can get here and when its out, it takes weeks to get someone out to fix it. UGH

Surgery went well, I am down 38 pounds now and go for my first fill on Tuesday 4/28. I am looking forward to it. Bought myself a new truck as a reward. Bought a 2009 Silverado Z-71 4x4. I got the truck on Tuesday as I am having extras put on it. I have not felt this good in 2 years, this journy is amazing. Keep in touch, Lighterload

  19. Hey Socalfosh,

Just keeping in touch. I have 4 days until surgery, here in Arizona and I am so anxious. I am not nervous at all and will be glad to get something more than clear liquids. The best part is this is the beginning to my new lifestyle. I am also looking forward to the 2 weeks recovery time I took off from work.

Hope all is well, stay in touch. Lighterload

  20. Hey Tig, Lighterload here,

Sorry for not being in contact. Life went upside down- had to have my band replaced due to a leaking port, just got out of the hosp. yesterday, have lost about 60 lbs so far.

Lost my job this past Monday- forced into FMLA and disability- have a progressive lower limb Neurologic deficit causing me to be in a power chair and the job won't allow it. They literally gave me the boot and were so condesending about it............... I cried for 3 days.

How are you and how are you doing? Weight loss?

    Miss chatting with you, Lighterload

  21. Hey Tig,

Had my first fill yesterday and it was horrible. My surgeon could not find the port so he probed and poked me 13 times with an 18g needle before he found the port to do the fill. I am so bruised and sore. He promised this would be the worst time for a fill because he marked and measured where the port is and can directly into it next time. I go back in 5 weeks for another fill. I am down 41 pounds and feel fabulous except for the sore tummy. Hope you are doing well- Lighterload

  22. Hey Tig,

How are you doing? I have not heard from you and I was getting worried. Hope all is OK.

I am now 15 days post oP and I feel absolutely wonderful. I saw my surgeon Tuesday and I have lost 32 lbs already. I go for my first fill on 4/28. My surgeon is very aggressive with fills so I expect to get a fill of about 5 or 6 cc. I can hardly wait. I have more energy now than I have had in a year. I surely hope you are OK and things are going as well for you too- Lighterload

  23. hey Tig,

Well here it is 10 days post op and I am feeling great. I was unable to contact anyone prior to this since my internet service was out for almost 2 weeks. We are back to normal now.

I do not feel surgery was bad at all. I had no gas pains as most talk about just had a very sore tummy, like I did about 400 sit-ups. I was not hungry until about 3 days ago and I am now starting on soft foods. I see my surgeon on Tuesday and it will be back to work for me the following Monday. I had lost 21 lbs pre op, on that liquid diet and I will be anxious to see how much more I lost since surgery on 3/25/09. Keep in touch- Lighterload

  24. Hi Doodlebug,

30 lbs. is a great loss. I have leveled out at about 48 lbs. I go for my second fill on June 3rd. I want my sirgoen to tighten it up more than the last time. I need to get this show on the road and get this weight off. I feel great but losing faster would be lovely. Kudos to the rain you have been getting, we have temps over 100 already and its only May. Rain is rare in AZ and of course what you don't have you miss. I love rain.

I am looking at changing jobs soon, had a substantial offer that I cannot turn down so I should be giving notice to my present employer soon, that will go over like a lead balloon.

Keep walking and stay in touch, Lighterload

  25. Hi Girl,

Sorry for not being in touch. DRAMA big time in my life- had to have my band replaced, leaking port, just got home from the hosp. yesterday. Lost my job Monday, they forced my out on FMLA and disability since I have a progressive lower limb Neurologic deficit and am required to use a power chair- the company refused and gave me the boot. I cried for 3 days after 24+ years and to be treated so poorly, hit me hard. So I am on disability probably forever. I will spend time on the lake in my boat to keep from getting bored. My significant retires in 36 months so all will be good then.

How are you doing and how's the weight loss?

    Miss chatting with you, Lighterload
