  1. I am looking for advicve on having gall bladder surgery after having Lapband. I went to the dr a month ago, then after numerous dr's, er trip and finally a hyda scan they figured out that my gall bladder is not working properly and to eliminate the pain and all is to remove it. I am opting to remove i. I go on the 30th of Oct for a pre op appt, so until then I have horrific pain the dr won't do nothing about. To people who have had their gall bladder out before, when they do the surgery did they do the laproscopic or open surgery? I have been ready online that if you have had previous stomach surgery they won't do laproscopic only open due to scar tissue, but then I have seen blogs of people who had laproscopic done. I'm confused. Lol. Also do they unfill your band? I have the realize band with 5.5cc's in it. And is the aftermath recovey pretty simple? I had my band put in on June 17th, but I had a surgery earlier that month on my leg, so I am use to having surgeries, but with them being so close is going to be another story. Someone help. Lol.
  2. I didn't understand either when I asked the doctor for some kind of meds for when things get bad. All she would tell me is she don't give out pain meds until after she does a surgery. When I told her I don't need no drug pain meds I just need something to help ease it. She kept saying she won't give me nothing. She told me to keep taking Ibprofen, well, I have been doing that for a month now and it is not helping no more, but now she is on vacation and I can't get no type of help. I am contiplating switching dr's, if she is telling me this before surgery I can imagin what she will tell me after and I have problems. My husband wants me to go to the dr that did my lapband, but since we moved she is 3 hours away, but she is awsome. I am not sure how this dr is about open surgeries. I seen her 1 time, I hope she won't have to do open surgery, makes me nervous. I know when we go for the preop and she says something my husband don't like I will be driving 3 hours to my surgeon. Lol. I can see it happening already. Lol.
  3. Ok, so this is sort of embarrasing. I had surgery on June 17th, I have uncontrollable gas most of the time. It wasn't this bad before I had surgery, but now it is like all the time. I have tried a few things to try and detour having gas, but nothing is working. Does someone have some suggestions or things I can do?

    Uncontrolable Gas

If you keep good dental hygeine your breath will be find. Sneak a toothbrush and travel toothpaste in a baggie in your purse and you'll be fine. Or keep on in your car, at work, whereever you think you'll need it.

    Uncontrolable Gas

What is a probiotics? Is it prescribed or over the counter? I am going to get a fill again on Monday, I have the Realize Band and have 5.5cc is the band now. Hopefully it will be 7 on Monday. Gas X worked after I first had surgery, but it ain't working no more. I wish though.

    Curiosity killed the cat.....

I thought for sure I would be put through a loop, but thankfully I wasn't. I was surprised when I got the notice.

    thinning hair

I use Biotin. When I stop using it for a few days my husband will notice a difference in the fullness of my hair. I already had thin hair and the surgery made it thin out alittle, but Biotin has been working wonders for me. It is like my hair is thicker then before surgery.

CHAMPVA.. Didn't need approval or authorization, but surgeon still sent a authorization paper in and got paperwork back the next morning.
  9. I have been having the problem of throwing up EVERYTIME I eat. I thought it was I was pregnant as that is how it started with my son, but when I went to the dr she said it is probally acid reflex and going to do a ultrasound next week to find out forsure. You might want to bring that up to your doctor tomorow. There are certain meds they can give you to help with that.

    WBC is HI

I had WBC a week before my surgery, my dr still went ahead and had me come in for surgery and just retook my blood again before surgery and it was back to normal. Your dr should prob do the same thing from what I found out doing research when I got my results.

Did ya get the staples out today? Do you get to go home on Fri? I bet you are so looking forward to going home, been gone too long? As far as the recipes, I will check out that website, yesterday I was able to start eating soft foods. YAY, although I haven't as things hit the sky and been going through alot, so tomorow I think I will try to eat some soft foods. I am curious on how it will work. I have had no problems yet eating anything, so we will see.

I am doing good with the pain, it seems like it is getting better, but there still is alittle there. Not taking the pain meds as often as before, although I am taking them at night to help me sleep with the discomfort. I accidently pulled one of the stiches loose. I was trying to clean around the incision as the glue stuff that was used is starting to make me red and itching. So I am going to call the dr tomorow. I need to go for the next checkup early next week, so when I make the appt I will ask about that. I thought she told my husband that she used the disolvable stiches, but it is appearant she didn't, weird. The incisions are healing so well, when the surgery was first done it looked like the incisions was going to be worse then my arm and those incisions are horrible. Did you get your stiches out today? I hope so, how did that go? What type of revision did they have to do? Mandie P.S. You got any good on the sweet side recipes? lol. I can't figure out for the life of me a sweet tasting recipe that is no sugar no fat. I am not sure if the exist, but after my day today I need something sweet to ease my mind . I am on the mushie stage, but have been able to eat soft foods if I chew them up like a million times and I don't have a prob with that. LOL.

I am glad, (well, to the people going through what I am knows what I mean) to hear there are more going through what I am. I am starting to feel better, well, I think so, my husband says I don't look no better, it could just be the pain killers. I don't know. But I am feeling better mentally, so that is a plus, I have lost 22lbs so far, I am so happy. Hopefully this is the last week I will be going through all this pain, I can't wait to hit the gym and go hiking again.

Oh I plan on that, we are moving back to Texas sometime in August. My husband don't want to leave until I get to my "sweet spot" and all so I don't have to start over with a new surgeon that don't know me somewhere else.

Corliss, Thanks, he is so sweet. I will post a pic of him in my profile tomorow. I keep meaning to post pics and info in it and keep forgeting. Lol. Yea it is breaking a tradition of obesity, both me and his dad are obese, I get it from my father, so I don't want to pass it along to my lil man. I never knew they had anything as in a professional sitter, that is something good to know. My husband takes great care of me though, but hey, u-no sometimes husbands hit those nerves. LOL. I hate only having on dr advice and it seems like it is the wrong peice to me. So like I said if I am not better I will be getting another one Wed, I am already missing a wedding tomorow, err. I keep ice on it everynight then every hour or so during the day I keep ice on it, just to calm it down alittle. I am not if you have any advice, but when I am really cold or just waking up and it is cold in the house, I start to shake in cold and my mouth is shivering so bad, then my abdominal muscle starts to contract almost like when I was in labor, do you have any advice or know what this could be caused from? My dr says it is just part of the process, but it is so painful, it has almost taken me down a few times, luckely when I get up like that my husband walks with me or I would have landed on the floor a few times. Any advice? Mandie

    June 2009 Surgery

Corliss, thanks, I actually went to the dr on Wed, they did a catscan and all she said since I have had 2 surgeries within 2 weeks of one another that my body is just taking alonger period of time to heal. If it is not feeling better by next Wed I will be going to see another surgeon for a second opinion though. I don't want to second guess my surgeon, but if it's not feeling better it is more then just taking longer to heal. I will call her in the morning though and ask her if it could possibly be a pulled muscle. I am so paranoid that there was something wrong with the port, my husband asks me that all the time about the port as it is the muscle where the port is attached. Thank you for the advice, I sure will be asking in the morning if it is possible. Mandie

That's good, we are at the same point in the diets and food. I keep a list of what I can and can't handle, nothing on the not list yet, but I know it's coming. I want to go eat sushi so bad. LOL. I can't get the thing of not drinking why I eat. I have been drinking while eating for so long breaking it is a huge problem, I will take a glass with me to the table and my husband takes it, but hey got to keep it away somehow. I can't wait to try salmon tomorow. Yummy. lol.

I am on pureed food too. Yuk. Lol. That is kinda weird your dr is going to push you to eat solid foods by a certain date, you would think he would hold off on the fill until he knows you can eat the solid food with no problems. My dr said she is not going to force a fill, when I am ready for one and eating with no problems she will do a fill NOT before. I guess every dr is different though. After going through all this I don't think I want to deal with a fill right away, errr, but I have to though.

    June 2009 Surgery

Wow, I sometimes wish I wouldn't of had to go on the pre-op diet, I mean I had no advance warning or nothing, the nurse called me up one day to schedule the surgery, then the next day she faxed me a diet telling me I had to start that that day, I am like huh? lol. It was alittle hard, I won't lie, I cheated a couple times, I mean I literly went from eating anything in the morning to being told I can't eat nothing for another 2 weeks unless it's certain liquid stuff. I was alittle upset with the nurse though. The other surgery I had was on my achelis tendon, it had to be stretched again. I have had so many surgeries it's rediculous. Lol. I was a accident prone child . What type of things are you eating now?

I have to take the meds every 4 hours now, I had 2 surgeries within 2 weeks and what a mistake, my body is healing at a very slow pace. I lost 19 pre-op and 1 since surgery since I am not able to be up and about that much . how have you done?
