Well, if you are self-pay, you can have whatever surgery you want. But if you are looking to get insurance to cover it, you may have some hurdles to jump, as your BMI at your current weight/height is only 32.4. I believe you need to be at least BMI 35 (for your height that would be 211.7 lbs) with co-morbidities.
Maybe just straight up tell your doctor what you want. If he/she isn't down, keep looking until you find one who is. Good Luck!

I have posted a few times on the same exact thing...loosing slow is not easy. At the time of surgery I was on the borderline of BMI requirement to have the surgery with no co-morbs. I was afraid that they were going to deny me but my Surgeons team knew exactly what to do to get me approved. They made sure that I was aware that lower BMI's will loose at a slower rate. Sure enough that was me. I am just over 3 months out from surgery and have lost 41lbs as of today. 10 of those pounds were lost during the Pre-diet. So in actuality I've only lost about 31lbs, in 3 1/2 months. My stalls last 2-3 weeks. When the scale is actively going down, I am NOT loosing inches. When I am loosing inches the scale is NOT going down. It doesn't make sense but that is exactly how my weightloss is going thus far. I am not complaining because I feel great, I am now in a size 14...some 12s and I NEVER imagined that I would be this size again!! I also know that I am not done and if I keep loosing at the slow rate, that I am...I will hit goal of 160 by Christmas and I am sooooo looking forward to that!
The beginning is hard especially if the scale is slow...I will say that there was a point where my weight didn't budge at all...I went in to see my surgeon and she questioned my calories...which was about 400-600. maybe not even that, but she said I need to increase my calories and get to at least 800..Sure enough when I started adding in more calories, the scale would move down so I know that was a huge factor.
Hang in there is all I can say. The results will surprise you 1 day soon!

I'm afraid of Dragon Fruit...saw it in the store for the first time ever and wasn't sure if it should be eaten or caged up.
Other than that, I eat what I am supposed to. Unless certain foods make you sick they shouldn't be feared..just simply avoid them. Respect the Sleeve! A big part of this journey is about control.

reachbree got a reaction from ProudGrammy in When will I stop regretting this surgery?
I also regretted my surgery..... at the beginning. I am now just over 2 weeks post-op and feeling better. I wouldn't call it regret, but I feel a little sorrow-ish when I see food....and people eating food. It's hard to wrap your head around not being able to stuff yourself with junk again...but honestly, where would that get you?? bad health and eventually 6 feet under if its not controlled. You made this decision because you didn't want to go there and you want to live the healthiest, liveliest life you ever could. So you owe it to yourself to make this work...Follow your Dr.s plan and you can't fail. Dehydration is no good so please find a liquid that you can tolerate (Cold, Ice cold, warm, room temp) whatever, just find something that will go down easy and start drinking early in the morning. Being dehydrated makes you ill and can really make your head foggy which I think maybe adding on to how you fill now. Take care of yourself and stick with these forums,,.....we are all in the same boat and will 1 by 1, increase the population of HEALTHY citizens of our planet. Since WLS has become more popular there are less overweight people and that's a very good thing....proof that it does work.
You have to believe in yourself!!!

reachbree reacted to higher in Ok I have to ask...are things going too well? Am I overdoing it?
Hey guys. I have a stupid question. Am I supposed to feel this good?
I had surgery at around noon on Thursday 7/7. By 7:30 pm that night I was feeling great- I walked over a hundred laps around my unit and went home at 4 pm on Friday.
Since then- no real issues. I've read about so many on this board. No Constipation, no major fatigue, liquids are going down very easy, I don't even really have to sip and I'm getting over 60 grams of Protein (shakes) and at least 80 oz of fluids (mostly water) everyday. My urine is running clear and I'm not constipated. I'm sleeping better than I did pre-op and stopped taking pain meds yesterday.
Yesterday and today I was out and about, shopping and helping out an elderly relative. I've been going for long walks in my neighborhood. This morning I competently handled some international business matters before 9 am. Tomorrow I'm planning to swing by my office to handle some business, walk around the city, get a facial and babysit my nephew.
So this post is not a humblebrag. I'm seriously wondering- is something going to come smack in the face in a few days? Did anyone else feel totally fine after surgery? Is my perspective skewed from reading too many posts about complications?

1.5 weeks and I absolutely regret it. Im not due back until August 1, however I returned on 6/28. Surgery was 6/16. I really wish finances were better and I could take the full 6 weeks.
Why do I wish I could take longer? because I am physically tired...and adjusting with all the changes my body and mind are going through. It can be tough at times so take as much time off as you possible can.

As I am sitting here at my desk at work, my stomach makes the most noise in this office. Even with people talking around me, you can hear it. Any sip of Water, or anything I chew/eat, it goes crazy!! as if I ate a gremlin. And I don't know why, but its just as embarrassing as farting!!
Has anyone else swallowed a gremlin after this surgery??
I'm being serious btw...about the growling.

Since you are 2 weeks out, I have heard that stalls are quite common at this very point.
In my situation, Would love to burn my scale...I am a month out and have lost a whopping 8 lbs!!! At first I thought, Sure, its a stall....but being a month out now and the scale still not moving (I even gained a lb) I think my situation is different.

When you get to your support group ask if anyone there has experienced a bout of some form of depression since WLS. I wouldn't surprise me if EVERY post opper replied, "yes".
I believe it's all part of the process including a hormonal flushing. One moment "flying high" --next moment weeping.
All will balance out eventually--for most people. HOWEVER, if you feel you are "stuck", please do not hesitate to seek help. Contact your team/therapist. There is help available--short term or on an ongoing basis.
You do not have to suffer when on what should be a joyous journey.
