    One week pre op

I'm there but have been trying to keep myself busy to avoid thinking about it. My husbands keeps saying that I should be happy but its hard to explain that I am happy, and nervous all at once. I am getting better though..my surgery is on Thursday. I think part of my problem is that I have some disappointment in myself. My body is NOT reacting to the pre-op diet as most everyone else's is. I even gained a few lbs a couple days ago, and lost them again....it is just being really stubborn. BUT I am reminding myself that this is why I am having this surgery Good luck on your upcoming special day!!

    Loss of taste

This sounds Horrible!!! poor thing....I mean, if I eat a carrot, I want to taste a frickin carrot!!!! Maybe it is your bodies way of responding to the trauma of the surgery since its not like our bodies are cut on a regular basis. Hopefully you will get that sense back soon!

    On my way...

Super exciting for you guys, praying it goes well for you. Keep in touch with this group to let us know how you're doing!
  4. Awesome thanks guys! I just ran out to another CVS and found the Hibiclens.
  5. Just wondering what the success rate is for this category. I am 5'3, 222lbs. It seems that those who are at a higher weight loose faster (and get to normal weight quicker!) than those who are needing to loose 65-90lbs or so. Are you in this category? If so, what has your experience been with the weightloss? do you feel that you lost weight at the same rate as others? Also did you get loose skin with loosing the 65-90lbs?

    Anxious and nervous

You're so close!! I have some information that says I can choose between all liquid OR 2 liquids and 1 meal. A few days ago I tried starting the ALL liquid....didn't cut it for me so yesterday I had 2 liquid, then for dinner steamed broccoli and chicken breast. However, today and tomorrow I'm shooting for ALL liquids (Water and Protein shakes). I know it sounds funny but I just want my body to be in the best shape it can be in for this surgery (Thurs) which hopefully means my liver is shrinking!!. Good Luck to you and keep us posted!!
  7. So after telling me that she received my FMLA info from Personnel she leaned down and whispered "what are you having surgery for?" I paused then said, "Im sorry I don't want to give that info" Even when I initially told her that I was having surgery, I specifically asked her to not give that info out. I felt SO weird saying that because I did want to tell her but I couldn't.. WHY? because she is friends with another girl in our office Im having issues with. I avoid drama with this girl at all cost, so even though I feel I have a good relationship with my sup, I watch the things that I tell her about my personal life. Why do I feel so bad though!!! No one else my office knows except a close friend whom I trust a little more. I should also mention that she is 6-7 yrs younger than me and we both have 2 boys so we talk a lot but this is one thing that I am not being open about.
  8. While I thought I had everything to together, I was hit with some forms to sign at my pre-op labs yesterday and one of those forms was consenting to robotic surgery....as in a robot performing my surgery. This doesn't sit me with me well. I mean, are most of them done this way now?
  9. Pre-op is to reduce your liver for a safer operation. Not to loose a ton of weight. I struggled too with the pre-op. I was off and on until I got 2 weeks away from surgery then it clicked, this is serious stuff, no more screwin around. I pretty much pep talked myself onto the liquid diet. I am now 4 days away from surgery day and hungry as heck but I've come too far (6 months to be exact) to give up now!!!!!! Plus im looking forward to just feeling good about myself.

    Surgery Tomorrow

Hope your surgery went well! and that you have a speedy well recovery Take care of yourself and let us know how you're doing.
  11. Hang in there, it may seem like a long time but it will go by quickly. My process from beginning to end probably took about 6-9 months...9 months would be when I initially told my Primary care phys that I wanted to look into wls. 6 months is when I attended the bariatric surgery seminar. Once you finish that last Nut visit you will be SO proud of yourself and you will only want to keep going. And if you look at it this way, from this point you should have your surgery by Christmas! you will step into the new year 2017, starting a new journey to a happier, healthier you!
  12. Surgery is next Thursday and I'm mentally prepping myself. I've already reminded my husband twice to bring our 2 boys to visit me as I will be there minimum 2 nights. I will especially miss my baby (2 yrs), my oldest (9) is pretty independent but ill miss him too. I am a pretty busy fulltime working mom so I really need to take those 2 days to rest before I get home. Also, my last 2 overnight hospital experiences were when I had my boys. It felt great and I was full of joy. But This..... feels soooo different for me...almost like a "How did I get myself here" feeling. not so much happy but I know I should be. Just wondering what everyone's feelings are right now prior to surgery.
  13. Thanks everyone! Unfortunately, I don't have family here and my husbands family works so we dont have anyone to keep the kids. This is a very new, beautiful facility. There is a large family area with computers, play area an such. Come to think of it I really wish this werent our situation, Feeling aside, Id rather them not come either....especially the littlest one..my oldest has already seen me in the hospital (when i had c-section) so he's ok....but my little guy will want me to hold him. We'll see how it goes but I may just end up telling hubby to drop me off at the front door on surgery morning then just go back home. Dr.s will be in touch. Cant believe Im saying that, Im already terrified, but maybe its for the better of the kids. Also, their Nana will probably be able to keep them on saturday (her off day) which is hopefully the day I get to go home!!!
  14. SO True about not everyone being your true friend, if anything I've learned that this year and it took me 36 years to realize that because I easily get comfortable with people then end up saying IMO too much.
  15. What is your surgery date? I am in the exact same situation as you except I was on liquids yesterday and had one healthy choice frozen entrée (veggies and meat only, 4 carbs, 27g Protein, 1g sugar) and of course my Water and Protein drinks and a 30 min walk. Woke up this morning to gaining almost 3lbs. I have NO idea why this is happening to me! it happened last week also, very restricted diet and I gain weight. When I first started 2 weeks ago I quickly dropped 4lbs...then it just stopped. I am going straight liquid today and might have to until my op. My surgery is next Thursday 6/16....6 days from today and I am devastated that my weight is going in the opposite direction when it should be going down, has me thinking if this surgery is even going to work for me if my body is going to be so stubborn. Hang in there! I truly believe that if we can stay strong and breeze through this part of the process, will make the early weeks after the surgery a lot easier on us.

    Robotic Surgery?

Thanks, I am aware that the "robots" are being controlled by the Surgeons, I just wasn't sure of the current success rate of it.

    Here I go....

Congrats on starting your journey, I also have BS/CA and approval was in less than a week... My surgeons office had me to do a 3 month supervised diet....that was their practices formality...not BS/CA which does not require any pre-diet anymore.

    Robotic Surgery?

sounds great! and that's a great photo up there. Amazing what humans can do and create.
  19. I have BS/CA and it took under 1 week. It really depends on your specific insurance co. Some can take up to 30 days but I think most will do within 2 weeks.

    Robotic Surgery?

In the short time that I've researched this, it does appear to be that way, a quicker recovery with a little less pain...

    Is your surgery a secret?

So I told my Mom which I kinda regret because of course I did get a bunch of grief from her. With that being said, as of right now the only 2 that know is my Hubby and Mom. I dont need the negativity at this time when I should excited about this and preparing myself. My family are pretty healthy and don't believe in wls because according to them its unecessary and all you need is a GF diet!!!! ugh....definitely not telling anyone at work, told the bosses I was having surgery, Point. Blank.
  23. Thanks for the suggestions guys, my husband strongly recommends that I just lie about it and say I'm having gallbladder surgery....which i've already had my gb removed...anywho I honestly don't feel right about lying lol In response to one of the pp, I do feel like she has been trying to build a friend type relationship with me rather than just co-workers...
  24. absolutely, I am preparing myself for the reactions that I will get (if any) when I begin to drop weight. There is a guy in my office whom we assume had surgery because he has dropped soooooooo much weight in so little time, granted weightloss surgery is not the only surgery that will cause you to loose weight that quickly but he is super skinny now and looks great (as in not sick). I am prepared for people to speculate but Im not sure just yet of how I will respond, I like "having stomach surgery and on a special diet"
