  1. I'm definitely getting in about 75g of Protein, 69 from Protein Drink and a little more from food. However it doesn't add up to anywhere near 800. My issue is that Im still drinking all day, and finding it hard to fit in any solid foods. I'm literally not hungry and also really sleepy (hard to eat when you drained!) But now that I've been reminded that calories are important too, Im focusing on getting more calories from actual food. My nurse also stressed that its important at this stage to eat because if you don't your pouch can actually shrink, making it hard for even Fluid to get through. I love avocados...something ive been wanting to try is avocado and a little salsa on it. Does anyone know if salsa is ok? low sodium of course. I WAS using PB powder in my vanilla shakes but got tired of it then nearly gagged at the sight of it lol I cant eat eggs!!!! Ive tried twice and for some reason they just don't go down well no matter how long I chew. Blech! Thanks for the great food suggestions everyone!
  2. I coulda sworn I replied already but.....You Guys crack me up with the melted cheese. I did have melted cheese on the Beans it was quite delicious!! KristenLe, Yes, I haven't gotten any specific instructions to stop the Protein shakes so I assume they are still good. I just got sick of them and switched to nectar..now im getting sick of that!!....Will check the exact calories on Nectar! I will work on eating every 3 hours...Man o man, the math in this!!! eat every 3 hours, do not drink less than 30 minutes before or after a meal...my brain hurts. I need something to zap me whenever its time for me to eat or drink. 1 zap for eat, 2 zaps for drink.
  3. BUT here I am. I have replied to others post who are down and out, with hopefully encouraging words....but now im the one whose down and out. I have been having off and on bouts of depression. I get sad because the stupid scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks. Ive only lost a few lbs since the actual surgery (about 19lbs including pre-diet) and it has me wondering if it will work for me. I am 3 weeks out. I am drinking Protein and Water. I make an effort everyday to eat something pureed but it hurts going down so it makes me feel like my tummy isn't ready...will it ever be? or will it hurt to eat for the rest of my life? Today for lunch I tried eating mashed low carb meatloaf I made last night and a tablespoon of mashed sweet potatoe. People comment (already) that ive lost so much weight and I just think "Really??? really? Ive only lost 8 lbs" I look in the mirror and while I see somewhat of a difference its not much and while I don't expect to be 50lbs lighter after 3 weeks I did expect to loose more than 8lbs!!!! Im sleepy all the time...just straight SLEEEPY. I come to work and yawn 50 times within the first hour. I go home and care for my 9 and 2 yr old boys. They see Mommy tired all the time. We go to the park and take walks...doesn't help much. The struggle is REAL! That is all.
  4. I completely understand the hunger. I had it too earlier...my poor tummy was so angry (growling). But as times progresses it gets better. I sip on nectar Protein drink throughout the day and that keeps the hunger down. The nectar works better for me than the milky thick Protein drinks because it is of thinner consistency and more like a juice. Funny because now I sometimes crave a thick Protein Drink. However, my surgery was 6/16/16, just 1 day after you and I've lost 21lbs since 6/9, when I started the pre-op liquid. If you have lost 20lbs since your surgery date, 6/15, that's awesome. Heck, I thought I was doing great.
  5. All ideas are welcome however I will specifically be entering the pureed food stage on tomorrow and will be taking my boys to the movies on Friday. Is there anything I can snack on?? I doubt they have SF Slurpees....

    Sleeping position?

IM naturally a tummy sleeper. I have been falling asleep on right or left side since 1 weeks post-op, now I am 2 weeks postop and I wake up on my tummy. No issues here.
  7. I also regretted my surgery..... at the beginning. I am now just over 2 weeks post-op and feeling better. I wouldn't call it regret, but I feel a little sorrow-ish when I see food....and people eating food. It's hard to wrap your head around not being able to stuff yourself with junk again...but honestly, where would that get you?? bad health and eventually 6 feet under if its not controlled. You made this decision because you didn't want to go there and you want to live the healthiest, liveliest life you ever could. So you owe it to yourself to make this work...Follow your Dr.s plan and you can't fail. Dehydration is no good so please find a liquid that you can tolerate (Cold, Ice cold, warm, room temp) whatever, just find something that will go down easy and start drinking early in the morning. Being dehydrated makes you ill and can really make your head foggy which I think maybe adding on to how you fill now. Take care of yourself and stick with these forums,,.....we are all in the same boat and will 1 by 1, increase the population of HEALTHY citizens of our planet. Since WLS has become more popular there are less overweight people and that's a very good thing....proof that it does work. You have to believe in yourself!!!

    People and their big mouths

Unbelievable how stupidly brave some people can be to spit stupid right out of their mouths. I have family that would say something like that. Thats why I PURPOSELY did not tell them...I also specifically asked my mom and dad to NOT tell anyone....just a day or so later I find out that they told pretty much everyone in the family which really upsets me. Next time I see my family, if anyone has anything negative to say about my decision or how I look, they got another thing comin!! You did NOT deserve that. Your progress is what I;m pushing for and what helps to motivate me!!
  10. Not sure if this makes sense or not. I am looking for a good unflavored Protein supplement. I am about done with these Premier Protein shakes, I am newly sleeved and still on the liquid diet. While I am drinking enough liquids I was wondering if I could half the protein shakes and add a serving of unflavored Protein powder. So lets say the premier shakes are 30g each. If I drink only half it would be 15g. Can I add more protein to that 15g to increase it without having to drink the rest? I would SO prefer to drink more Water and less of these thick shakes if I can.
  11. Thanks for all the suggestions. I always have Water with me no matter where I am. I also saw where some make cheese Snacks. Basically you bake cheese into cracker form, this is something that can dissolve and be chewed quickly in the mouth and should be ok during pureed stage so Im looking forward to making these as they are also good source of Protein as the cheese sticks are. Thanks everyone for the great suggestions!
  12. Wow 100g protein is great for Day 7. Sounds like you still have IV Fluid retention which can come off at any moment/day now. It will all happen soon then you see the scale quickly go down...then stall, then down, then stall...you get my drift...seems to be the normal cycle of this whole experience!
  13. Thanks for all the suggestions. I picked up a container of nectar, peach, orange....While it smells like the pink antibiotics I grew up taking...it taste ok, I really like the thin consistency of it! This evening I tried mixing it with ice because I wanted a smoothie or slushy consistency but it turned it into an ice mess. So mixing with plain Water is probably what it will be for me. Thank again.

That's amazing!! You look beautiful in the photos
  15. I am 11 days post op and on full liquids....just yesterday i woke up feeling fairly well. I drank my morning Water and Protein shake with absolutely no discomfort or pain which I had been having prior to yesterday...Before I could literally feel the liquids squeeze through my stomach. Now I drink with no feeling at all...not even fullness. It was so hot out yesterday that I even guzzled my water and crystal light down a couple times...still no discomfort. When I got home I made cream of mushroom Soup. I poured it into small china bowl and sipped on it until it was empty. Just today, when fixing another bowl of soup i realized that the bowl is 7oz!!!!!!!!! oh boy. how did I get down 7oz without getting sick or even feeling it?? after I noticed that I just drank half of it, even though i didnt feel full. At this point, how much should we be taking in per meal?
  16. I thought i had 6 until i lifted up my left boob and discovered cut #7. My tummy looks like a map of the stars. I also previously had lapro gallbladder removal.

    Stalling Sooner Than 3 Weeks...

I am 1.5 week post-op and while I haven't stalled the lost has slowed down to 1lb/day where as before it was 2lbs a day. I've heard sooooo much about the stalls that I am expecting to run in to them at any point now. I have heard they are pretty normal and your lost should kick back in soon. Personally, I think this is just a resting phase for your body...its been through a lot so this is the bodies way of sayin "I need to take a rest".
  20. Hey Guys, As of today I am 8 days Post op. First few days home were very rough so I had my last dose of liquid Vicadin last Sunday, I figured that had something to do with how bad I was feeling so I stopped 3 days post op. A few days ago my husband took me and the boys to the park so they could play and I could walk. My oldest came on the walk with me. After about 20 mins of walking my legs started itching insanely. A month or so ago I bought some gain detergent and discovered that me and my youngest are allergic to it....the load that I washed with that detergent had gotten scattered. Turns out the exercise pants that I wore that evening was from that load. DH rushed me home, i immediately jumped in the shower. Most of the itching had subsided but I started to feel my heart race. I threw on my nightshirt and made my way towards the couch when suddenly I went into a huge panic attack. My breathing was very rapid and I just started crying hysterically. My dh asked what exactly was bothering me, I told him I wasn't sure what was wrong but that everything seemed gross to me, the sight of things, the smell of things...just things period!! so weird. I didnt want to touch anything and I didnt want anything touching me....after a while of him talking to me I started to calm.. Fast Forward.....today I had the strangest episode of feeling extremely faint. I swayed side to side as I walked from one room to the other...my head wasnt hurting at all...my body just felt very heavy and drunk. I am not diabetic but I felt like I needed to eat. Obviously I am still on straight liquid so eating was out of the question I sipped on a Protein shake and after an hour or so started to feel more alive. Has anyone experience these?? Also, Im having SUCH a hard time with the liquids!!!! I drink them but im sooooo hungry.....my poor fingernails, im chewing on them instead of food! Starting next Thursday I can have pureed foods but this liquid stage is a pits...especially since I started it a week or so before surgery. I understand this stage is very important because the tummy needs to heal. I get it but I feel like im starving myself.....I mean nothing I am drinking has any real calories in it! Water, G2, Low Sodium broth, SF Popcycles.... Took kids to zoo yesterday and bought them a pizza for lunch...OMGSHHHHH!!!! I never imagined that pizza at the zoo could look so good!! it was perfect and I wanted to eat it....ive never been a heavy eater, but I wanted to eat ALL OF IT...but instead I sat and watched them eat it and trust me when i say I was holdin back the tears. Sorry for Rant! Just trying to deal with this one day at a time.
  21. I am still early out, but if you are able to, definitely take the maximum time you can. I haven't only because of financial reasons. I also work a job where I sit at my desk in my cube most of the time so I feel a bit better about that but Im still not sure how I will do as my desk was probably where I ate the most and right now Im in liquid phase.
  22. Thanks KristenLe, Doc says I can start pureed next Thursday (2 weeks post-op). I would love to start puree right now but honestly im afraid I will hurt my tummy and I have a hard enough time getting the thick Protein shakes to squeeze through my stomach opening (ouch!) even with small sips. I have been getting in my Protein Shakes and Water to get atleast 50oz of liquid. They actually sent me home on Full liquids which is great but I still feel there's not enough cals. Thankfully I havent had to drive since before the surgery. DH has been my driver. I am supposed to go back to work next week, im not even sure I can handle it. Im approved through FMLA to be off through 8/1 so I may need some more time. Will test it out on Tuesday.

    Smells and cravings

Im not sure if Im really craving certain foods, though I pretty much want to eat everything right now as I am in the post-op liquid phase. However, I find that I enjoy smelling foods such as the chicken apple sausage my husband fries up every morning.
  24. Thanks so much. I appreciate the encouragement!
  25. Try Pinteresting low-carb versions of your favorite foods. There's a ton of recipes I have saved and I cant wait to try them. My husband does Atkins so that makes it a bit easier for me...and my kids will just be healthy because they will be eating whatever I cook for me and DH. I too think about not being able to eat my fav foods again, but my lifelong plan is to still enjoy them (of course if I can tolerate them) but certainly in moderation!!! As for now, I plan to be low carb-high Protein until I get the bulk of my weight off.
