  1. Today is day three of my little lap-band journey. I was getting up to take a shower and took a glance in the mirror and realized my right pupil was fully dialiated. It is as big as the color part of my eye. My left eye is normal.

I freaked out... called my doc and she said I might be having a stroke!!! (Anxiety went thru the roof!!!) She advised me to call 911... I didn't feel like I needed the whole fire truck and ambulance sha-bang so my bf just drove me to the ER.

When I got there they took my vitals, did an EKG, and admitted me. Everything was coming up normal so then they opted to do a cat scan.

Soooo many people came to look at my eye and asked me billions of questions.

So to make this already long story short... The DOC came to the conclusion that it was the Scopolomine Patches. They are to help you not have nausea. I was not warned that these Patches that go behind your ear can do this. A lot of time, money, and most of all totally freaking out could have been preventive if someone just told me.

I googled it when I came home and found that a lot of people have this reaction. Anywhere from blurred vision, to tunnel vision, to going blind!!! I read that you are supposed to gradually take it off. Like 1 to 1/2 to 1/4 of one... hmmm!

Anyway... I thought I would share my story and hopefully prevent anyone else from thinking they are having a stroke or bleeding in the brain!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Bek - thanks for sharing and keeping us posted. Mine is Monday and I'm finding myself going up and down emotionally, but generally just hyped!!! I'm sooooo relieved to hear the pain isn't too bad and you're not hungry!!! Yay - congrats!

    LapLady,

Yaaa! Monday! I bet your so excited!

Pain had its toll on me yesterday. Day 1 was a piece of cake... Day 2 was a little rough... only toward the evening. I felt extremely weak and had some gas. Today is better. I am able to have more options with food... First two days I had to do a clear liquid and now the rest of the week just liquids. I am hoping that having Protein shakes will help boost my energy a bit!

Best of luck to you. I wouldn't stress too much about pain. It is totally bearable.. just have some drugs on hand!

  4. Two days and counting until I get banded. Taking the weekend to prepare. Hope I do as well as all of you.

    Best of luck Aimtown!!!

If you have any questions feel free to ask... I'm still a newbie but may be able to help you!

  5. My paperwork was finally sent out to the insurance. I should be hearing something in the next couple days.. I hope its good!!!!!!

Congrats!! Are you getting your surgery done in AZ... if so where at?

I had mine done two days ago by Dr. Nirmul at True Results

  6. Hotmama!

Good luck on your surgery. My best reccommendation is to just walk around as much as you can. Last night my BF and I took the dogs for a quick walk... I walked slow and it did tire me out for sure but I think it is making my recovery speed along.

I'm still not hungry... it is absolutely WONDERFUL!!!

This is amazing! Best decision yet!

  7. Xgrl!

11 days goes by soooo fast! Get ready!

I only took a week off... Well almost. Thursday through Wednesday!! At this rate I think Ill be good to go. Probably just a little sore.

I did read a forum someone posted and said Day 2 was harder. I am praying that it isn't the case for me!

Keep me updated on your status... Ill fill you in on how things keep going!

  8. Thats awesome I'm sure your surgery will go awesome if you need to see yourself skinny go by one of those weird windows with a bar splitting it and stand in front of the bar a few feet back....you'll look 1/2 your size...this use to depress me untill I got my surgery date for March 24th now it's just a goal!!! Good Luck let us all know how you do!!!! :w00t:

Haha. This morning on my way to surgery I found a window. It was perfect!!!! :-D

Everything went so well. I feel great and am up and walking around ever hour. I am not hungry! WOO HOO! My throat hurts a bit... nothing more than just a sore throat! As far as gas goes.... all is well. I haven't taken anything and it isn't seeming to bother me. My insicions are tender but bearable. Overall I am suprised at how great I feel!

I had a little anxiety attack right before I went in... just had to reassure myself that I was making the right decision. I started picturing the girl I saw in the window and my nerves started to calm down.

Thanks for all the positive words of encouragement. I've started my new chapter. I am thrilled.

  9. Another question is...will Vitamins and nutrition just help my hair grow or will it improve the condition of my hair or both?

I suggest getting a Vitamin for your Hair Skin and Nails. They do have them available in capsules that you can open and pour into something or you can crush up a regular Vitamin.< /strong>

I take those currently... it makes my hair thick and nails grow like weeds! :w00t:

  10. Chocolate_Snaps!

    MY god! You look amazing!!!!!!!!!

I keep checking this thread because above everything else that I read this is by far the most motivating! You all are incredible. You are all my inspiration! Being banded tomorrow morning... YIKES! Hopefully in a few months I'll be able to post some pictures of a rockin body!!!!! HA!

  11. Best wishes to you!!!! I am going in tomorrow at 10:45 to be BANDED!!!! I'm so thrilled!

We are starting a new chapter of our life... its going to be incredible!

My mom just bought me the book "Drop Dead Gorgeous" with a note saying "Such an appropriate title for you!!" I recommend reading it.... I'm excited to be SKINNY and drop dead GORGEOUS! HA! :crying:

  12. Having fills done in someones home just sounds scary to me. I would never consider that.

Randy- That is a HUGE liability. So many things could go wrong and you would be blamed 100%.

Luckily I am being banded in the states and will have my fills done here as well. I would not suggest anyone having fills by an at home nurse.

  13. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life. I have been jumping back and forth from scared out of my mine to completely stoked!

I am fearful, anxious, excited, and motivated. I have been overweight my whole life and can't believe that it is going to be over. I have to admit... I can't picture it. I'm having a hard time seeing myself as skinny. What will I look like?! Ha! Seriously tho...

My surgery is tomorrow morning in Tempe, AZ. My parents won't be there but my BF will. I'm thankful to have him by my side.

    Whew. Here goes nothing!!!!

Best of luck to any one else having surgery tomorrow or any time soon!!!

  14. Thanks for all your comments and support! I have taken off Thursday- Tuesday... I have in past surgeries jumped back fairly quickly so I am hoping this is the same!

My immediate co-workers know whats going on and they are very supportive!

Just a few days away.... my goodness! This all happened so fast!!!!!!!!

    Thanks again!

  15. Hi All!

My surgery is scheduled for March 12th and I just want to make sure I have everything ready!

I will be on a clear liquid diet the first two days and then a liquids diet (anything that can fit thru a straw) for a week. The next couple of weeks then begin with mushy foods...

I have read that some have blended things like veggie Soup during the liquids portion... Do you have any other suggestions of things that helped you through those times?

    Thanks!!

  16. Hey all! Just a couple questions I have before the BIG day!!

How many days did you all need to take off of work? Right now I have Thursday thru Monday off! Do you think that'll be enough time to recover fully! I am a student and preschool teacher with 15 two year old! Luckily I don't have school that week but will be chasing two year olds!

    Let me know your thoughts!

Also I have been reading about the lack of energy during the liquid diet phase? Any suggestions to improve that!!
