  1. Hey!

So drinking is a huge sacrafice... it is something that you will be able to do in moderation. If you are planning on still drinking a lot or don't know if you will be able to make a huge cut back than I urge you to not go through with the surgery.

Lap band is a huge commitment and you have to be ready on all angles to change the way you live. That includes your eating and drinking habits. Beer and soda (at least for me) is forbidden for at least 2 months because of the carbonation. I cannot tell you how good an ice cold Mich Ultra sounds... but I can tell you how I would rather be thin and healthy than have one.

Maybe wait a few years till your out of party mode... than re-evaluate.

Either way... best of luck to you.

  2. Ya! Another NSV!!

A couple weekends ago I bought an XL dress for my friends wedding. Well I was trying it on the other night and it had become too big. I had to go to the store and exchange it out for a Large! I was stoked!!!!

  3. Thanks Jane... And everyone else!

I need to be patient. Every loss is great... I need to remember that!

It did take 10 years to pack all this weight on... I guess it shouldn't all come of in a month and a half! Haa!

    thanks again everyone!!

I'm having another fill May 4th!!

  4. Hey all!

I am so concerned about my band. I have like ZERO restriction at all... well maybe that is being dramatic. I have restriction after eating 2-3 cups of food. I have 3cc's of Fluid currently in my band and I guess I assumed that I would feel a little "tighter."

I have lost some weight and I am extremely happy with it but it has been purely all on my own will-power! I guess for a $15,000 surgery I was hoping for a little more help and a little less will-power.

Am I just not at my sweet spot yet with fills? What did it take you to finally have great restriction? I honestly was under the impression that I would begin eating like a bird after the surgery... and that I am not.

Also, I feel like people who know I had the surgery are definatly thinking I should have lost more by now. It has been a little over a month now...

Please help. I love hearing from you all.

    Blair

  5. Jane! You are too adorable! I LOVE reading all of your NSV's!

Congrats on another great accomplishment! You are awesome!

:( by the way... Big buff silly guys with tatoos are amazing... I've been with mine for almost 3 years!

  6. What the heck!?!

So yesterday I had this weird burning sensation coming directly from where my port is. I don't know if it is because I had gone on a 3 mile hike that morning and my abs were sore OR if there is something wrong with me!

Anyone else ever feel this? It only lasted for like 10 minutes but holy cow it hurt! I have a DR. appt Monday so I'll mention it to them! I just wanted your thoughts in the meantime!

    Thanks

  7. I would say that drinking is okay as long as you do it in moderation. Becareful not to over do yourself because you really aren't eating that much.

Stay away from carbonated drinks... I have a glass (or two!) of red wine with dinner some nights or maybe a lo-cal vodka drink (like the one suggested above)!

Have fun and just listen to your body! Nothing wrong with having a good buzz on prom night!

  8. okay... let me just say-- i have been in ONEDERLAND for one whole day.... and it... feels...

    AWESOME!!!

its so crazy that just one pound difference makes you feel soooo different! its like, an entirely different mindset and i have yet to wrap my mind around the concept that I SERIOUSLY WEIGH UNDER 200 POUNDS. just being at the rec center and typing in your weight on the treadmill and typing it in with a ONE first-- or not weighing as much as when a skinny person talks about a really heavy person ("they must have weighed like TWO HUNDRED POUNDS!" as if that is some far-off number)... seriously... guys. i thought my scale was playing an april fools day joke on me. but its legit.

i cant wrap my head around this yet!! i didnt think it would be that exciting but now that the day is finally here, it really IS!

CONGRATS!!!! That is amazing! I can't wait for that day! 44 pounds to go!

Way to go! You look great!

  9. Yaa! I finally get to post! Ha!

I have two pairs of the same jeans... one is size 20 and one is size 18. I never wore the size 18's due to losing the reciept so I bought a 20 because I loved the style. ANYWAY... I went to put the 20's on and waaaaay too big! WOO HOO! The 18's are a bit tight... (I mean who cares if I had to lay down the zip them up)... but THEY FIT!

    haha. I was stoked!

  10. I came to the conclusion that if loose skin is in my future... well so be it. I have spent almost my whole life being so unhappy about my weight. I am 22 years old and am so self conscious. It is the only thing keeping me from being truly happy. If I can end this battle, I will be able to breath and enjoy my life a little more. I will be more confident and that makes everything worth it.

I can deal with loose skin. Loose skin doesn't cause illness or raise your blood pressure. It doesn't prevent you from going on an airplane or a roller coaster ride. It doesn't shorten your life span. Dont get me wrong loose skin will suck, but it is a risk I am willing take.

  11. My process went sooo freaking fast! On Feb 28th I went to the informational meeting and that day scheduled my surgery for March 12. I had thought and researched lap-band for about 6 months prior to that but never thought it was possible.

My insurance company does not cover WLS. My WONDERFUL Mother agreed to pay for my surgery... so she is the reason things are the way they are.

I will say... I was stoked about getting the surgery up until like 10 minutes before I went in. I had a bad anxiety attack and could not sit still. I was so worried I would be making the wrong decision.

With that being said... this by no means at all was the wrong decision. I am so grateful for my band. :smile2:

  12. Hey there!

I was just banded March 12th and I will say that I would do this over again. So far I have lost 15 lbs. The restriction is something I could never do on my own and was my biggest set back. I tried Weight Watchers over and over again, I was always able to stay on course but never could feel full enough. The band has given me that sense of fullness.

Surgery is a scary thing but the fact that this is a tool that will keep me thin makes everything worth it.

If you have any other questions... I'm here!!!

  13. I am in need of some advice! I was banded Thursday the 12th and am having the hardest time eating.I guess I am asking what others have been consuming on average just to compare!

I can never eat or drink any more than a couple small sips or few bites. Even when I am eating I feel sick to my stomach. I am so incredibly weak and have lost 15 pounds. Really 15 pounds in 4 days! That's not normal! I am gonna call my doc tomorrow... I just in the meantime wanted all of your advice and experiences.

    :) thanks so much!
