  1. Hey All!

So a few people have been asking me for my workout and eating routine. I decided instead of emailing everyone that I would just post it for all to see.

    Where to start...

Eating habits- In the beginning I did exactly what the doctor ordered. I know every doc is different so I strongly encourage following their orders. Mine had me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks post-op, then mushy foods for awhile, and then finally regular stuff! I have never been able to eat more than one cup of food at one sitting. I always ate my Proteins first, then veggies or fruit, then last (if I had room) starches! I have never been able to eat breads really so I always just stayed away from them. I did really well with Protein Shakes for the first few months but now I am so sick of them... just thinking about it makes my stomach turn!!! I stopped drinking liquids with my food when my doctor told me how horrible that is... I really think it helps with not eating as much and not getting stuck as often! (BTW-In the beginning I got stuck allllllll the time! It was sooo frustrating but after a few unfills and fills, I found my happy place!)

Work-out routine- I work out 3-5 times a week. It truly depends on how much I work or how many homework assignments are scheduled. I live an extremely busy life but still manage to find time! I work full time and go to school full time, I am actively involved in the church and have started a fundraiser within my community... I'm sharing all of this to simply point out the fact that no matter how busy you think you are, you aren't too busy to take a little time out of the week to work out. I either walk or run with my dog or go to the gym! I love the elliptical and usually spend about 30-45 minutes on there. I love spin classes and will try and do one of those at least once a week! I have a personal trainer that has taught me how to use weights to keep tone. My BIGGEST fear going into band-land was loose skin. So with that said from day one I spent a lot of time on the machines making sure to keep tone and develop muscle. I'm not sure if that's why I am so lucky to not have any loose skin or if I am just extremely blessed.

I think that sums it all up. I am down 65lbs and have another 35ish to lose. I think with the lap-band you must adjust your lifestyle how you see fit. We are all different and are all going to have different results. Do what is best for you and your health.

  2. My advice:

Stick with the band! You made a committment to the band and yourself. You CAN do this. You are half way there already!!! I have started a food diary as I have only lost 7 lbs in the past couple months. The last bit is the hardest to lose and keeping yourself 100% accountable for allllll that you eat is so helpful! Your body has most likely adapted to what your eating habits are like, so change it up! I did a liquid diet (yes, its awful) for a week to get things moving again... I have read on here that it helps when you get to where we are at... I'll know tomorrow how much I have lost!

Hang in there and stay positive. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here!!!

  3. Hey all-

So I was banded March 12, 2009 and have lost 58 pounds so far. However the last two months I have not lost nor gained. I exercise a couple times a week and only eat 3 times a day about a cup each time! I'm not sure how to get out of this and start losing again! Anyone else plateau during their journey?! If so... how did you get out of it! I have 44 pounds I want to kick and am sooooo anxious to get rid of it!!

    Thanks for your time!

  4. Yep so the one thing I was scared to death of was my hair falling out and it has absolutely started thinning! :cursing: Luckily I HAD a ton of hair so it isn't noticeable to anyone but me... I did a little reasearch and found that people are taking Biotin. I bought a bottle of it 5000 mcg. and was just curious if any of you all have taken it or heard anything about it!!

Let me know! Hope you all are doing well! I am almost out of the 200's and into ONEderland's!! Hoooray!!

  5. Chocolate_Snaps- It made me smile when I read your post. It is funny how I use to dread seeing people from long ago, especially high school. I always knew they would be thinking, "Wow, she let herself go!" Now I take every opportunity to see people from my past because as shallow as it seems I love the compliments. At times it is what keeps me going!

    My current NSVs are:

    -Shopping in the juniors dept.

-getting rid of all of my XL t-shirts and 18/20 jeans!

-Someone saying, "You don't need to lose anymore weight!" haha yes I do, but NO ONE has ever said that to me!

-Being the same size I was my SOPHOMORE year of HIGH SCHOOL!!!!

    :tongue2:

  6. I'm down 50 and don't have any drooping and/or loose skin! Knock on wood...

I do workout 3 times a week, cardio and weight training! That may have something to do with it as well as my age! I'm 22.

I would still like to lose another 50 so hopefully I will continue to be lucky and everything will stay in place!

  7. It has been forever since I have been on here! I am so happy for all of you that are still continuing to melt away!

I have lost 47 pounds and am soooo excited to hit that 5-0 mark! Some of my recent NSV's are:

1.) Airplane ride to Santa Barbara... NO problem sitting in the seats! I even had a little extra room!

2.) I bought my first pair of Seven jeans... size 14! Suuuuper excited! I was up to a size 20 b4 surgery!

3.) I no longer wear an XL just a L and let me tell you I lovvve every second of it!

4.) The guy I'm dating was like "WOW, you've lost a lot of weight!"

5.) I went shopping in this little boutique called Divaz and totally fit into their L size dresses.... again very excited bc I use to never be able to shop in those boutiques.

6.) Being called "Tiny," "Skinny Minny," "Little."

  8. I obvivously need to go to the doctor... but in the meantime I just wanted to hear from all of you!

I have 3.25cc's in a 10cc band and get stuck on EVERYTHING!! Real quick on everything I've gone through so far... I had surgery and came out with 4cc's in my band. That first week I couldn't even drink water! So they removed all Fluid and then have been slowly working their way up! I got up to 3.75cc and thought I was going to die! Everything I ate, I threw up. So I went to the doctors they took pictures of my band to make sure everything looked right... and it did. She removed fluid and sent me on my way. I was ok for like 2 weeks and then BOOM... I can't eat anymore.

It is really frustrating and not healthy. I swear some people think I have an eating disorder bc A.) I never eat and B.) I throw up 5 times out of 10.

Has anyone else experienced this much discomfort when eating?? It is funny... I use to LOVE eating (ha! part of the reason why I had to get Lap-Band) and now it is a task and I really dread it. I cannot enjoy anything. I am miserable... except for when I get to go shopping and buy a smaller size!

Hmmm.... if only I could shop instead of eat. haha only kidding.

  9. 1. SV- I lost 8 lbs in 3 weeks... YA!!!

    2. I joined a gym and have been working out 4 times a week. I meet with MY personal trainer (my boyfriend ha!) twice a week and do a boot camp every Saturday morning!

    3. I am starting to notice a difference. I think it sometimes takes awhile before we can look in the mirror and notice a difference of ourselves. Maybe it is because I evaluate my body every second of the day... ha!

  10. I think confidence is key. I walk into every room with my head held high and proud of who I am, even if I do notice that I am the fattest one there I don't let ANYONE see my insecurity. Especially now with lap-band I KNOW that I am doing something about my weight so that makes me that much prouder and gives me so much more confidence.

People feed on confidence and the higher you hold yourself the more someone will notice you. Don't dwell on your weight while you are out... have fun and let loose... that's why you went out in the first place right?! A smile is contagious and even more so is a laugh. If you're having a good time people will want to surround themselves by you.

  11. Hi!!!

I remember being all freaked out over my first fill but it is really simple and painless. You have nothing to worry about!

My doctor always numbs me up a bit at my port site and then does my fill. All I feel is a little pressure... nothing of too much discomfort. You most likely won't be able to tell a huge difference (at least I didn't) with your first fill... I have been told it takes many to feel the needed restriction!

I am getting my second fill today... I believe it will put me at 3cc's in a 10cc band. I need more! Ha!

Best of luck to you and congrats on your 20 down!!
