  2. Happy 50th Birthday newmsa!

  3. Hi Newmsa

I wanted to reach out to you off the discussion pages. I had no real contact with anyone who had been banded (other than my consultant at my initial visit) and wished I had someone who had the surgery to talk to. Anyway, if you want real answers (as to my experience with the surgery, band, after etc.), just wanted to reach out to you. Take care

  4. Hi Newmsa

I am 5'5" and went into surgery at 201 so a BMI of about 34. Tried and tried and tried and just couldn't change my eating habits for long, couldn't stop at just 1 or 2 cookies. This surgery forces me to do just that. I have lost 10 lbs within the first 10 days and know it is slowing so am staying away from the scales. Need to start exercising to get it moving again. Food is 80% of weight loss. I used to do a serious boot camp 5 days a week and didn't lose a bit - just goes to show.

  5. Surgery went withoug a hitch yesterday. I was groggy when I got home and slept for about 2 hours and then woke up and felt pretty darn good. I had a gas pain in my neck, so I applied heating pad. I got up and walked around the house several times and then walked around my cul-de-sac with my Mom and my dog last night. I really felt great. Slept well and my belly was a bit more sore this morning, but nothing real serious. I had my protiend shake this am and now sipping on Diet Green Tea with citrus. I am a happy camper. Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes. For those about to have surgery, please don't worry so much. It was not bad at all.:tt2:
  6. I have Cigna and my BMI is 33. I was told that unless your BMI is over 35 for 3 years, + co-morbidities, they won't pay. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pre-diabetes, reflux, joint pain, etc. When they did my endoscopy, they found a hiatal hernia. So, I am having surgeon repair that with insurance paying and I am paying $5K for the band. Worth it to me! Good Luck!
  7. So glad you are home and doing well. My surgery is March 18th.
