  1. I am not sure if I can have coffee!!! This stuff is smooth, thin and positively great. I got it in the refrigerator section in produce in Waldbaums Super market where they have specialty drinks. You can probably call your local markets and ask. Or go online and see if you can't get it that way.
  2. Thanks for all the tips. I did drink warm chicken broth last night shortly before going to bed. I hope the prilosec works and I am going to stop drinking anything besides maybe sips of water? a few hours before going to bed. I sure hope it doesn't happen again.

    Amazing news ! ! !

I am smiling from ear to ear. It is so cool that you have shared this real life perfect story. It's GREAT that your family is together again. I am so happy for you Tiff.
  4. Thanks again for encouragement VegasAngel.
  5. I can't compare it to a c/section but it is a major surgery. I'm too early out to be able adequately give my opinion. As for now, for me, it is a struggle, I am hoping that in time I will look back and like so many others be glad I made this decision.

However small the portion, I sure look forward to being able to enjoy these dishes. Thanks Susan
  7. Thanks Susan, I've been feeling the feeling like air is stuck in my chest for the last 2 days and I try to burp but the trapped air or gas? still lingers. I guess I have no choice but to perservere and take the Prilosec. I'm also taking Reglan 4x per day. My surgeon told me to take it , it's an anti nasuea med but he said it helps to "push things through". likely coincidence, but I wasn't having reflux to this extreme until I starting taking these meds. BTW, all my meds are generic. I'm hoping that that shouldn't make a difference. Thanks again.
  8. I had little trouble sleeping on my left side, shortly after being home from the hospital, however for the last 2 nights I've had acid reflux awake me from my sleep and this has forced me to prop up pillows and half sit half lie on my back! Very uncomfortable. I don't get it. I started taking prilosic(sp?) yesterday and the reflux seemed to have been worse! I don't know if this will help but I think I'm going to back off any soft/mushies and stick to full liquids only for a while. The reflux is not fun, I nearly choked last night and woke so abruptly from it.
  9. Thank you for posting this. Sorry you had this problem. I would not have thought that after 6 months there would be any restrictions in food choices. I'm glad that you were alert enough to take action. How are you now? Will this "bezoar" dissolve? Please keep us informed.

.....It does look delicious. Today I tried some more cottage cheese with the egg yolk and it was tasty but I had a little struggle. I think I should perservere a while longer on full liquids. I sure hope that things progress because I'd like to be able to enjoy some food, even if it's just in small amounts. I'm gonna hold onto this one until I'm ready for it.
  11. Hi I am also approx. 2 weeks out. I had my surgery 9/15. I am not seasoned by far but as long as I am only having liquid ie. clear broth for soup, I think it's okay to sip on a beverage with it. If I eat something like yogurt (which I haven't yet), I would think that I should wait an hour after eating the yogurt before drinking anything. Today I was out all day and went totally off schedule. Then when I ate some cottage cheese I think I ate one or two bits too much and it didn't feel too good. Now that I'm an hour past that I think I'll slowly sip some. I like that schedule you posted. I think I will post it on my desk for reference. I hope some others chime in here. I'll be on the look out. Happy Birthday BTW!

Yum again! Although I think I would just bake the ricotta with a little tomatoe sauce are there any specific instructions? If so, where can I find the ricotta bake recipe VegasAngel? Thanks.

Now your talking my style...Italian in NY! LOL I will definitely give this a try, yum. It may be great with ricotta cheese too, although cottage cheese has a higher protein content. Thanks Josephine!
  17. I am so sad for your loss and touched by what you have said and what all of you have shared. Three years ago I lost my cat he was with me from about 6 weeks old and passed at 17 yrs old. Then his "brother" adopted at 4 weeks old passed away at 15, one year later. They were 2 years apart and best buddies, my best friends. I was devastated with each loss, we 3 were together for years. It took time but since I've adopted 2 more. I too will need to learn new and better ways of coping with life hereafter. food was always my mode of comfort and void filling. I guess we need to learn how to feel our feelings and move on. I hope this shift in relationship with food will indeed help us to find healthy alternatives. It sounds to me like you have come a long way.

That sounds delicious, high in protein and easy. I have a "magic bullet" blender. I will try that out and let you know. I really appreciate the recipe. It's so great to be able to share on here. Thanks so much.

I am helped already just seeing how important it may be to have a support system in place as you do. Since this surgery my mind has been racing round the clock. I'm finding complex issues surfacing with regard to food and eating. I was warned when considering surgery. After reading this I've decided to make an appointment with the psychologist I met with previous to the surgery. This is his area of focus. I hope to hear more from you.

    Restriction

That could get confusing. I wonder if eventually things will regulate to a predictable and even keel.

I enjoyed it and my sleeve kept me in check while eating it. There was some sensation in the center of my chest (like air or something) and that signaled me to go s l o w, take a break and try to burp. I am begining to understand what "head hunger" means...for me it means eating something a little bit too fast. So I cautiously ate about 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese and applesauce and it was delicious. So far I think I'm OK. Thanks for asking Cajun. So how are you doing?
  24. The smells of good foods got to me day 1 in the hospital! The lady on the other side of the curtain had great foods coming in since her family came to visit her often and brought he lunches and dinners, snacks etc. I did however have hunger pangs in my tummy! Lot's of hunger. I am sort of glad that so far the only thing that has changed is my taste for intensely sweet things. The sweet I enjoyed before no longer appeals to me.
  25. I didn't measure but I think that's about right at least for me, small sips however like a teaspoon at a time was/is all I am able to take in comfortably.
