  1. Has anyone here had their lap band surgery done at Brigham and Women's or Faulkner Hospital in Boston? :sneaky:
  2. Hi, Sounds like you've been doing alot of reflecting. I can honestly say I feel the same way. I look back and wonder how I became this overweight person? Your right about it being an addiction. I know this because my husband had a gambling addiction years ago; (don't worry, he's in full recovery, god bless him) I remember what he and I went through. Same senerio, he had to gamble and I had to over eat, always wanting what we shouldn't have. Now we both can be on a road of recovery together, I hope. Best of Luck with your surgery and I hope everything goes smoothly for you. "TO THE NEW YOU"
  3. I'm on my preop diet and I had to go grocery shopping for the rest of my family today. It was soooo hard. My stomach was growling the entire time. That alone is something I never want to do again; but I guess I'll have to. "Back home to my "yummy" shake". Sorry, just had to vent.:cursing::thumbup:
  4. Does anyone know if you can get liquid tylenol in a adult form or does it have to be the children's dose?
  5. This is way to funny! I have my preop this Friday also but at 1:30. Maybe we'll run into each other? Well, good luck with the liquid diet. Remember, it will be worth it!
  6. Hi Alyson, Can't believe we have the same Doc and date. Which hospital are you having your surgery at? Have you already had your preop eval? I feel the same way about the gas pains. Most people on the site say they go away if you walk around and take the gas-x strips, so I guess I'll be doing alot of walking. I'm more concerned about the ride home, being from the cape it's about a 2 hr. drive. Hopefully I'll sleep most of the way. Good Luck with your surgery, also.
  7. Are you going to the Brigham for your surgery? Your diet sounds exactly like mine. I started the preop diet 2 weeks before I was suppose to but I have added a few carrots and lean turkey to eat between meals, for now. I start the strict diet on the 26th of Feb. I have lost about 5 pounds on the diet and the rest came off beforehand, 12 lbs total. Who is your surgeon?
  8. Hi, I'm also being banded on the 12th. I started my preop diet before I was suppose to also and have lost about 5 lbs from doing that. I have to start 2 weeks before surgery and the diet consists of 4 protein shakes throughout the day, alot of water or crystal light, popsicles SF or jello, and one meal for dinner; 4 oz of meat then a salad or vegtable. It was really tough the first few days and I thought I would lose my mind!!! It got better (sort of) as the week went on. The hardest part is living with my three sons who can eat anything and not gain one pound. It's good you have people at the school to help you. Hang in there; I'll be thinking of you.
  9. Hi, I'm going in for my surgery on March 12th with Dr. Ashley Vernon. But instead on Brigham they asked if I wouldn't mind going to the Faulkner which an affliate hospital with Brigham's. I heard it's a great place.
  10. I'm glad for the input. It puts my mind at ease. One less thing to worry about.
  11. This past summer was the final straw. My husband and I help out with the football team boosters in our town; when at our end-of-double sessions cookout I overheard one of the parents say " my god, she is getting huge!" I went home that night and cried. I certainly won't miss: The fat comments. Not being able to get out of a chair like regular people. The pains in my knees and lower back. Asking for a table instead of a booth. Not being able to wear a bathing suit while on vacation. Always being out of breath. My mattress dipping down where I usually lay at night. My CPAP machine. My medicines. Shopping in the plus size department. I could go on and on, but this list of things was enough to say Lap Band surgery was for me. I have dreams of looking like I did when I was 21. Can't wait for March 12.

    How long

It really does depend on the surgeon. I had my first appt. with my doctor around Dec. 10th and I'm finally being banded on March 12th. They usually give you a list of things to do before they will send the final approval in to the insurance company. Then the insurance does their approval thing. When all that is completed the surgeon will set your date.

    CPAP crap!

Hi, I also was required to get the CPAP machine before they would do my surgery. I'm not sure why, but I think it has something to do with the insurance company. I have to admit I was so against it a first, but since wearing it for 7 weeks now I have gotten use to it; I wake up with more energy and I don't need my afternoon naps anymore. Hooray, but I still hate the thing! Can't wait to lose the weight so I can get rid of it.
  14. Just joined this site. I finally have my date for surgery on March 12. It seemed to take forever, waiting and waiting. Now that the date is set I seem more focused on what I have to do. I find that reading everything I can on this site has helped so much. I so nice to read about people that are going through the same thing as myself.
  15. Hi everyone. I'm new, just signed up tonight. I finally have my surgery date of March 12th. So, I'm reading as much as possible beforehand.
