  1. Yeah, but then u get the munchies! Been there, done that...
  2. I was a band to sleeve revision. I cheated on my post op band diet the 2nd week. I was terrified of cheating on my post op liquid sleeve diet. I was afraid Jello was too solid for my tummy. I didn't cheat once on my 4 weeks of liquids. I was so scared of getting a leak. 5 days post op, I was convinced I had a leak. My back hurt really badly, my hands started contracting and my face was contorted. I KNEW I had a leak. When my husband took me to the ER, the diagnosis was an allergic reaction to Reglan. As soon as they gave me benadryl in my IV, I felt better. My dr said that 98% of all leaks (which r RARE) r the first week after surgery. If u get thru the first week, most likely ur fine. Just stick with the diet ur dr gives u. Good luck!
  3. Me too. Waited for about 3 weeks to take my Gabapentin (which r HUGE) but I took all of my normal pills within 2 days. I will say that the liquid Vicodin was great stuff. Works much better than pills...
  4. Im 13 mths out and can still only eat small amts. More than at 3 mtths out but not nearly as much as before wls. Im a band to sleeve revision sl i compare my restriction to when my band was at its premium (about 6 mth. Im 11 lbs from goal. Whkle i can eat healthier (staying away from carbs, etc) im happy tl eat whTever i want in just smLler amts. Good luck...
  5. I have lost my whole butt. All I have left is bones. When I go on the back of hubbys dirt bike, I can't walk for a few days. Wish I could take some fat from my middle and apply it to my butt. And yes, my bones ache. Specially when I don't turn over every hour or so when sleeping. Hurts my hips/legs to stay in 1 position too long. Didn't have to worry about that when I was covered in fat
  6. I agree with the fact that over time, everyones stomach relaxes, no matter how big ur bougie was. I'm 13 mths out and long for the days when I could take 4 bites and be full. Ur only a month out. I was still on liquids for 4 weeks, soft for 4 weeks. U can't really tell how much you'll be able to hold till ur eating solid food. And u still have swelling from the surgery. Totally normal to only eat a couple bites. I got hungry within 90 mins after a meal. Always had to eat something. That will change once ur able to eat a little more. So thankful that even after 13 mths, I'm still only able to eat a small amt. Good luck to u!
  7. RSVP'ing also for the 6th. C u soon! Marci Cornwall

    I AM BAD....OPINIONS.

When u said u were "bad" and then talked about all u can eat shrimp at Red Lobster, I assumed u went and ate alot of shrimp - 9 days out. OMG - that's what I was gunna say to u. Good for u! ABout 2 weeks after my sleeve 13 mths ago, hubby and I went to Red Robin. I asked them to blend up clam chowder. They happily did. I was on full liquids for 4 weeks. So I could go there and eat....but not Red Lobster. Congrats on ur decision! Keep up the hard work!
  9. Wow. Wow. Wow. And I just hafta ask: Where is the other 20 lbs that has to come off? U look fantastic! WTG!
  10. I've been in this mindset since my lapband in 2009 and more recently, 13 mths post op sleeve revision. I'm now 11 lbs from goal. Losing extremely slowly - I know I could speed things up by "dieting" or eating low-carb, but I'm done dieting. I will get there someday. For now, I'm happy in my size 8's - eating potatoes, bread, and an occasional (READ OCCASIONAL) cookie. If I never lose another lb, I'm happy with my loss. While I totally understand those that watch calories and carbs, some people can't eat 1 cookie or they'll eat the whole pkg (my husband is one of them) - I can eat just 1 cookie. My blood sugar is perfect, my bp and cholesterol r good, and I'm happy eating whatever I want. I just eat MUCH, MUCH less of it. IE: I can eat 1/3 of an in and out cheeseburger, 1 Del Taco soft taco, 1 pc of thin crust pizza, 1 cookie. I have found tho that now that I'm 13 mths out, I can eat a little more. Have to start watching my portion sizes in the future. Otherwise I guess I'll hafta cave in and diet. Someday. Not anytime soon tho!
  11. Same here. I've never been a diabetic but blood sugar was taken regularly and I was given insulin at least 4x in the 48 hrs I was there. They told me after wls, u sugar can skyrocket, so I didn't ask any more questions. It's been fine since (13 mths ago). Not sure what my sugars were while there, I was too gorked to ask...

    The last supper

The nite before my lapband in 2009 (I was told to eat a "lite" dinner the nite before, no pre op diet) I went to Outback. I had about 5 bbq ribs, loaded mashed pots, green salad with blue cheese dressing, and cheesecake. And I considered that "lite" For the life of me I can't remember what my last "meal" was before my sleeve revision 13 mths ago. I was on liquids for 24 hrs and I had a fruit smoothie the nite before but can't remember even making a big deal about my last meal. I guess having the band for 3 1/2 yrs did something. Made my "last meal" not a big deal...
  14. I'm 13 mths out. While I can eat more than at say, 3 mths, I'm no way close to what I could eat pre wls (had the band in 2009 and sleeve revision last year). I don't measure my food. Never have. So the only way I can tell how much I can eat is by how many bites I'm able to take. At 3 mths, I could take about 8 bites of any given food. Now, at 13 mths, I'm able to eat about 15-20 bites. About 1/4 of a chicken boob, a few bites of potatoes, and a few bites of broccoli. Where I find I have the biggest problem is late night snacking. After 8pm it's like I don't even have a sleeve. I can graze all nite. Been trying to curb this. Instead of popcorn, I will eat 1/2 an apple with almond butter. Instead of cheese Its I'll have a chunk of jack cheese I'm definitely a work in progress. I'm about 15 lbs from goal and I know I'll eventually get there. The first 100 lbs are easy peasy compared to the last 20. Good luck!

    Popcorn? Okay or Not?

I can eat an entire bucket of movie popcorn if I tried really hard. It's my biggest slider. I just recently bought an air popper (u'll never eat microwave popcorn again if u cut open an unpopped bag and saw what was inside - ick) and occasionally eat a couple cups with real butter. I'm within 15 lbs of my goal weight and have added back some of my fav foods, 1 being popcorn.
  16. I'm in the same situation. It's been a year and I'm now 15 lbs from gal (was 9 lbs a few months ago but I gained some weight). The first 100 lbs was easy peasy compared to the last 15. Good luck to u and have fun on vacation!
  17. My husband is very encouragine during this whole year that I've been sleeved. He's gained weight - probly from eating all my leftovers that I hand to him. He told me last month "quit offering me ur extra food. I'm getting fat!" He uses Atkins to get back on board. I don't. I just eat smaller portions. I don't diet.

    Stand Up Surgery?

I've never heard of ANY surgery where they stand u up for the whole surgery. I know mine was lying on the table. I stood during my leak test the next day. Can't imagine how they keep u from flopping like a rag doll while under general anesthesia and standing. And how difficult it would be for the dr to operate on ur stomach while standing. Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe someone can explain?
  19. I agree. My dr didn't require any pre op diet for my lapband in 2009. Told me to eat a lite dinner the nite before. Before my sleeve revision last year, I was told to do full liquids the day before surgery and clears after 6 pm the nite before. 24 hrs isn't too bad. I never had a ct scan of my liver before either of my surgeries. So unless ur dr can tell if u have a fatty liver thru blood tests (and they can), I had no fatty liver to deal with. Not sure if he requires a pre op diet if ur liver enzymes come back hi or not. If ur dr knows about ur meal and s/he's ok with it, then I don't see a problem. Just keep it healthy. No McD's! Lol
  20. Think again about the "eating whatever u want" concept. I lived by this from day 1 after lapband in 2009. Excessive vomiting caused a slip and a sleeve revision a yr ago. I lost all the way down to 150 by eating whatever I wanted, just less of it (from 250). Until it stopped working a few months ago. I can now eat more than in the beginning. And being used to less than 1,000 calories a day up to about 1200-1500 of whatever I wanted caused me to gain 9 lbs over the last 3 mths. U WILL eventually be able to eat more (never the amt u ate before surgery, however) and if u continue to eat "whatever u want", u will either gain or stop losing. I can almost guarantee it. I'm now learning to eat a little more healthy. While I still plan on enjoying pizza, burgers, and tacos OCCASIONALLY, it won't be a part of my regular diet anymore. I quit drinking my glass of wine at nite. Not only does it give me 110 empty calories but it also makes me think frozen pizza or Del Taco sounds like a good idea at 9pm. I'm on day 6 of drinking chamomile tea in replacement of my wine. Last nite I was hungry (and I am usually hungry by 8pm cuz I can't eat much at one time, making me hungry every 2-3 hrs) and ate 6 bites of chicken salad. I was good. Went grocery shopping and didn't buy 1 frozen Lean Cuisine or frozen pizza. I've now lost 3.5 lbs of the 9 I gained. Eventually eating anything u want will catch up to u. Everyone told me this and I refused to believe it. heck, I lost 100 lbs eating whatever I wanted. But to keep it off, I have to change my eating. Now that I can eat more, I have to fill up on healthier foods. Good luck to u!

    Ugh my Mother!

My mom was the same way when I told her I wanted the lapband in 2009. She said "why don't u just do it the old fashioned way?" Her husband late wife died 3 months after have RNY. Got a blood clot. So she thinks everyone dies from wls. The first time I went out to eat with my mom I made the mistake of taking a sip of soda AFTER I ate a bite of food. Came right up. And of course my mom reminded me that woould have never happened had I done it the "right way".. Now that I've lost 100 lbs and kept it off (sleeve revision last year) she's proud and agrees with my decision. Just wait. Ur mom will feel differently when she sees how wonderfully it affects ur life. Good luck!
  23. I'm impressed u could post already. I couldn't even see the letters on my keyboard till 2 days after, they doped me up so much. And I'm so grateful for that! Good luck with ur receovery!
  24. Absolutely. The entire 4 weeks post op while I was on a liquid diet, my husband probly wanted to move out. He also stayed pretty calm while I lit into him everyday. Basically cuz he could eat food and I couldn't. Pissed me off. While he wasn't eating junk (he's an Atkins follower), he could actually chew his food and I was jealous. Lack of food and hormones regulate our moods. Plus I take an antidepressant, which I'm sure has a little to do with my moods. Good luck with ur pre op diet. Ur one of the lucky ones who actually gets to eat food, once a day. I was a really lucky one. Had NO pre op diet except 24 hrs of Clear Liquids before surgery.
