  1. I have tried so many different types of protein drinks, I cant even remember them all. I wanted to be prepared for my surgery which is on june 22. I finally got some ideas from my doctors office. I use Unjury(which I hated before) I mix 1 scoop with 8 ounces of water, 1 1/2 tablespoons of International swiss mocha(sugar free) and 2 drops of peppermint extract. I cant smell the protein in it and it tastes like a coffee latte. It has just a hint of coffee flavor, which is good becaues i am not a coffee drinker. It is so good i cant wait to drink mine. I never thought I would say that. I put all of that in my rocket(blender) with a few ice cubes and drink away. It has 20 grams of protein and 130 calories...Good luck
  2. Hi Neighbor, I noticed that we not only live close to each other. We also have the same doctor(Dr. Gersin). My surgery is schedulded for june 22. SO glad you are having success with your band and you got to your sweet spot. I have read so much that is key to finally get there. Good luck to you
  3. Hi im in NC too, Charlotte, the wait is terrible. I first saw the doctor in late January and through it all I am now schedulded for June 22. I can't wait to get started boy do I need the help. Good luck to you.
  4. Okay I start my liquid diet on June 8 and surgery is on June 22. This morning i got up and had my protein shake. Liquid in between. I had a 6 inch turkey sandwich for lunch. Doing great no problems, Felt really good...got home about 4:30pm and lost it. I ate a slice of pizza, left over pasta, 2 slices of bread with butter, 2 packages of 100 calories cookes and a bowl of ravoli with fritios. Now I feel like i am sick. What is wrong with me..I need to get control over myself. Any one else having these binge problems...prior to banding. Does it get better after banding...
  5. Your feelings are so justified and normal. I think we have all had those thoughts at one time or another. I am 42 years old and have also failed at all diet attempts. I would lose 20 pounds then gain it back. I need to lose about 80lbs though. I weigh exatly what I weighed back in 1988. I had many reservations about surgery I think that is why i am having the lapband vs gastric bypass, less invasive. My take on it is this. I am not a vain person and I usually try everything else first before seeking help, however due to health reasons and wanting to avoid the weight related illness here we are. I had inertility issues but desperately wanted children. It took me 15 years to get pregnant with all sorts of procedures, injections, medications if I had not pursued that with medical assistance I would not have 2 children now. I look at the LB the same way i tired it my way, now I need help a tool. And to all of those people whom you are worried about their opinion until they come over and tie your shoes for you then they need to be more supportive.
  6. Thanks so much for the advice. I know I can do this, If people can survive cancer I can survive a liberal liquid diet for 2 weeks. I like the suggestion of walking while everyone else is eating...That is a good one...Thanks so much and good luck to all

  8. Hi does anyone out there have any suggestions on surviving the preop liquid diet. I found protein shakes that I can do. And I have my list of foods to eat in the kitchen as well as already stocking up on broth and crystal light, etc etc. My preop begins on June 8th, just not sure how everyone handled the restriction of no food for 2 weeks. Any mental support would be appreciated. I know I just have to do it. Just need some strength and not sure where im going to get it from.
  9. Thanks for all the input
  10. Have you been doing the liquid diet is that how you lost 12 pounds. Was just curious where your motivation is coming from..I havent had success at weight loss in such a long time.
  11. Okay, i have to find out if anyone else has felt this way. I waited and waited to get approved for my lapband(5 months process). I finally got the call your approved, surgery is June 22nd. Okay Fantastic!! But since ive gotten that call I have gained 5lbs. My preop liquid diet starts on June 8th and I can't even get my head prepared now. Why can't i control what im putting in my mouth. I am acting like the 2 weeks before my preop is a free for all to gorge on food. I feel miserable. I would love to get my head in order so I can lose at least 5 lbs before i start my liquid diet which i dont think is unreasonable. I need to feel like I have some sense of control before I begin this journey. Why am I not more excited. CONFUSED
  12. Thanks so much for all of the suggestions..I am going to give them a try. I wont give up, I have to find one that I can live with not just tolerate. I want to be successful and know that I need to find a way to get the protein in that i actualy enjoy.
  13. Okay so My surgery is schedulded for June 18th and I want to be prepared. I know that if i have to do something 3 times a day (protein shakes) then I need to be able to do more than just tolerate them. I have tried every possible combination, flavors, different brand..Cold, warm, with fruit, in juices, with llow carb icecream...etc etc..I cant stand them..Has anyone out there found a shake that they could do 3 times a day Thanks
  14. I see that alot of us are in Charlotte North Carolina. Maybe we can get together somewhere and talk about our journeys and Keep each on track with the program. I was just approved Yesterday 5/14/09, my surgery is schedulde for June 18th. Let me know if anyone is interested in getting a group going?
  15. I got my long awaited call today, Your Approved and as soon as I heard the words, I immediately felt scared, anxious and a whole host of other emotions. I have been trying to sort through them all day.
  16. To those wanting to eat everything in site when they get home, I would suggest eating a protein bar on the way home...Getting that protein in will give you some energy and a senes of fullness...so when you do get home your not eating the refrigerator
