  1. I see you got the SILS incisions too. I love having my port in my belly button! Hope all is going fantastic for you. I love having my band. I have lost 55lbs now and I feel WONDERFUL.

  2. It's wonderful on the other side. Can't wait for you to join me. I was overweight my whole life. This time as I go down the scale it's a private joy to know I won't see that number again.

I was banded May 21st and so far have lost 56lbs. I have 5.5cc's in my band currently. Had to get unfilled this week because I was too tight/stuck but it was not a set back. It was just tweaking things to get to my sweet spot.

My advise. Do it by the book, eat right as the doc says, exercise and have fun.

    Life is wonderful here!

  3. Thanks for the photo comments. I was so happy to see myself in that photo! When I went out that night, I saw a lot of people who have not seen me in a while and they were trippin'. I got lots of comments and koodoes and I accepted them all! Felt so good! Life changes for all of us after this!

    Oh Yes...I Was Overfilled...

Just got back from the doctors office. I was overfilled! My 2nd fill was 5.5cc's and I could eat more than a cup but still not be hungry between meals. So for my third fill I though...ok, let's go for 6cc's that should be my sweet spot. Well...for two or three days life was wonderful, then BAM!!!! I could only eat 3-4 bites and I could not get water down. I hurt and I could not lay straight down, I had to sleep upright because of the reflux. I did not throw up, just could not get a lot down. Water became a fantasy for me. I was so thirsty. I just wanted water. It was the weekend so I thought I could get through the weekend then call the doc on Monday. We set an appointment for Tuesday morning so I just got through one more day of uncomfortable. I could not wait to see my nurse. She was like an angel to me! She thinks I could have gotten stuck so we took out the .5 that I had gotten the week before so my tummy could heal and have a plan to put only .2 or .3 back in next week. I am back on liquids for the day but OH MY LORD they taste so wonderful to me! From last week to this week I have lost 10lbs! You would think I would be very happy about that but I do not want to lose it that way. Dehydration. I am sure I will gain some of that back but I welcome it. Some of the side effects of my overfill was exhaustion. I was so tired from not getting any calories. I could not exercise. I'd take a very very long nap in the middle of the day then wake up feeling groggy. Then I'd go to bed early. I had a bit of dizziness and lightheaded feelings. I am glad I did not wait too long to go back in. Four days was enough! The thing about being overfilled or possibly stuck is when it's your first time experiencing it, you are not so sure exactly what it is. When I had my 2nd fill, I got restriction about a week later so I thought, well it's restriction and it will loosen up a bit like my 2nd fill. But once you actually go through it you KNOW what it is! So while my belly is taking a rest, I do not see this as a step backwards. I see it as one step closing to knowing exactly where my sweet spot is! So I welcome this experience and I can't wait to get back to my exercise program and back to loving my days. I am still a very happy bandster!

    Life is ALL about Expectations

I was banded on May 21st, 2009. I have lost 56lbs. 10 of that was in a week because I was overfilled so some of that may come back from being dehydrated. So with that being said. My advise is to just follow the book. That is what I do. I have not added bread, pasta or rice back into my diet. I do not crave it. I stick to one cup of food and even though sometimes it feels like I can eat more, if I step back and wait five or ten minutes I find that I am really full. Exercise. Have fun with it. I take belly dancing, water aerobics, do the treadmill, elipitcal. I try to vary it up. And once I get through the belly dancing classes I am going to sign up for pole dancing....yes pole dancing. Life is wonderful to me, even with my overfill last week. You would think I would be upset about possibly gaining back some pounds from the dehydration, but NO. I am cool with that. This is a journey. Enjoy it, listen to your body, be strong! I am very proud of you!

    First time to get stuck

There is an old song that Ella Fitzgerald use to sing....Chew Chew Chew...Chew Chew Your Bubble Gum! It sticks in my head now when I eat. Sounds funny but it works for me. I am so sorry you went though that. I was overfilled last week and went for an unfill today. I now can speak from experience from that episode! When we experience things for the first time, we sure pray it's the last!

Please help, not sure if it's too tight!!

I am having the same issues. I got my 3rd fill on August 11th and I am now at 6cc. At 5.5cc's I could eat over a cup but not be hungry between meals. Now I can only eat 3-4 bites and it's hard to drink. I am not vomiting or PBing. But it aches. I think I need to call the doc too.

    How much have you lost?

I was told by my nurse this week that the average LB patient loses 50lbs in a years time. That's a lot of weight! Slow is better, so be patient with yourself and ignore the questions. Just tell them you don't weight except for doctor appointments or something to keep them off you. It's all about you anyway....not them. I have lost 50lbs in 12 weeks. With that being said I work my patootie off. I exercise 5 days a week. Belly Dance, Water Aerobics, Treadmill, Eliptical...(need to add weights now). AND....I only eat what is on my list my doctor's office gave me. I do not stray. I have not added bread, pasta or rice to my diet and if I can walk to a destination, I walk. Remember.....everyone is different with the LB and you may be slow out the gate but you will pick up speed. I wish you much joy and love. It's a journey.
  24. Hi! PBing is productive burping. Sliming is when you throw up from something being stuck or not settling well. When you throw up it's slimy and mucous based. I know that does not sound fun. And it isn't! (giggle)

You usually PB first which helps bring up what is stuck or not settling.

  25. Did I over do it? I had a fill this past Tuesday. I now have 6cc's in my 10cc band. I was able to eat more than a cup before with 5.5cc and was not hungry between meals. But now with 6cc's I can only take a few bites or a few sips of something. I am not in any pain. I am not PBing or sliming. I do feel tight after a few bites. So I am eating SLOWLY and gently. I am on soft foods until this weekend but I think I may have to stay on soft foods for a few more days. Literally after a few bites I am FULL. And then my throat, tummy makes all these weird noises. Not sure what to think after all this. ________________________________ UPDATE: It's been four days now and I am as tight as can be. I can only get 3 or 4 bites in, then I feel like I have eaten to much. I remember when I had my 2nd fill I was tight for about two weeks, then it's slowly loosened. I am going to try and get through this and if two weeks pass and I still can't get anything down, then see the doctor. On a good note....I've lost the additional 2lbs so I have hit the magic 50lbs!
